00:00And Damian Lillard, JY, back in Portland after that buyout with the Milwaukee Bucs
00:06made him a free agent.
00:08Yeah, I mean, it was when you really peel back and think about it,
00:11part of the thing that I think Milwaukee was upset about
00:14is that Damian Lillard said he wanted to rehab in Portland.
00:17So, I mean, back to the fact that he played such a long time
00:20with the Portland Trailblazers, he's still got his kids out there.
00:26If you want to talk about him wanting to win a championship,
00:29this is not what it's about.
00:30This is about what he feels comfortable doing.
00:33He got three years, $42 million.
00:35He's rehabbing back home, so he doesn't have to leave.
00:38He's probably got his house still there.
00:40So it kind of changes the thought process of what we think about Damian Lillard.
00:44You know, this is a guy that went to the Western Conference Finals one time.
00:48It did not work in Milwaukee.
00:50And for him, this is about the wrap-up of his career.
00:52So you start, it's almost like, where do you put him in regards to
00:58the players that played a long time in one city and didn't win a championship?
01:05If you go back to the earlier eras, right, where you talk about Ewing or Malone
01:10or Stockton or Miller, or even though he got traded a couple of times,
01:16Barkley, right?
01:17This is where you start to look.
01:19Dominique Wilkins, where does he line up?
01:23Well, here's the thing you have to realize, folks, we're off the jump.
01:25Every player that I just mentioned, besides Dominique, made it to at least one NBA final.
01:33And I think that is where, you know, when you look at some of those older guys,
01:38they had to go through Jordan, right?
01:40Now these younger guys have to go through LeBron, right?
01:43If you want to look at, like, how you have to, your pathway.
01:46But not Lillard, because Lillard was in the Western Conference pretty much the majority
01:49of his career, and LeBron was in the East.
01:51So you, to me, as great as Dame is, you can't put him in that pathion of those great players
01:59of the 80s and 90s that didn't get to a finals, because for most part of them, a lot of them
02:05were Eastern Conference guys, or, you know, in the case of Stockton, they got to a final
02:10and they lost to Jordan in the finals.
02:12So to me, great career, but I wonder where he ranks an all-time great because of not winning
02:18a final, but also, in a lesser degree, in Portland, where does he rank with guys like
02:24Clyde Drexler and obviously Bill Walton?
02:27Yeah, there's a lot to get here with Dame.
02:28We'll also head over to Coach's Corner during our show and talk about some of the Coach
02:33of the Year odds that are out.
02:34A lot of the NBA award markets have started to trickle out, and there are some sleeper
02:38names that you can keep your eye on.
02:40So we'll talk about that as well.
02:42But sticking with the Damian Lillard move, for anybody that might have missed it, Damian Lillard,
02:45after the buyout with Milwaukee, a free agent was connected to some contenders.
02:51Apparently, Jason Tatum of the Boston Celtics was heavily recruiting Damian Lillard.
02:55I guess the idea for both players coming off of a torn Achilles is not this season, but
02:59next season, we're going to be locked and loaded, and you should be a part of what we
03:03could possibly do here in Boston.
03:06Miami and Dame have had an affinity for one another for a long time, and that was also
03:10tossed around as well.
03:13For Damian Lillard to land in Portland, it is jarring.
03:19And I don't really understand it from a Blazer perspective when I look at the contract.
03:24Damian Lillard wants to be in Portland, JY.
03:28That seems to be obvious.
03:29You mentioned that you said that's where he wanted to rehab.
03:32I think it is also one of the situations with his kids.
03:36It's seemingly still live in Portland, so he wants to be close to his family.
03:39And that is all understandable.
03:42How did Damian Lillard just sign a contract where he's getting paid $18 million this upcoming
03:49season, where he is not projected to play any basketball?
03:53I do not understand how after Dame forced his way out of Portland, which we backed and thought
04:01was the right move because it was time to see if Damian Lillard could win at a high level
04:05in a different situation.
04:06How did he then come back and get more money than I would imagine any team would have even
04:12potentially ever considered giving him?
04:15What a cool way to do to do is that he was not fingertips, but that could serve as an auditorium.
04:23Okay, welcome back.
04:25Maybe he was with Damian Lillard будет.
04:27And we have to pay the 25% of the blade somehow.
04:28And then we have to take after the rope as theächen of B 니 Ian monument.
04:30Now okay, let me know.
04:31There's one way that is where this thing should take without a chance to eligible.
04:35You can think that will have an excellent time.
04:37Two feet with his fingers, but then he will have an ounce of the agency.
04:39I will be looking at it than the legen or as it might be with him that will be better.
