00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Betz and I'm afraid I have some
00:04awful news for you. We're reaching the end of Oasis's set of reunion gigs here in Manchester
00:09and that simply means that there's nothing for anyone to talk about anymore. So we thought
00:12as a last hurrah we'd have a look at the impact of the gigs and talk about what may come next.
00:17Now obviously I'm not the person to best sum up the impact but Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater
00:21Manchester, might be. So let's have a look at his response. Firstly the Mayor has thanked those who
00:26attended the performances, stating that they helped to create something very special. There have
00:30predictably been some instances of disquiet and trouble over transport with some public disorder
00:34but considering that over the course of the week around 400,000 people graced Heaton Park to see
00:39the brothers play, most things have been handled with grace and calm with nowhere near as many issues
00:43as you may expect from numbers like that. One of the more controversial issues was the boarding up
00:47of the area near Gallagher Hill which was used by a few thousand people over the first few gigs to
00:51watch without tickets. People did manage to sneak through the boardings on Wednesday too and got
00:55away with watching and it has split some opinion. Some people who paid for tickets maybe feel
00:59slightly resentful but others approved the technique considering the cost and demand of
01:03the tickets. It's crossed generations and has excited the whole city with merch stores selling
01:07shirts and jackets by the bucket load and I won't even mention the bucket hats. The gigs have been
01:11engaging and fun with buzz around the place palpable there are set of shows that will live long in
01:16the memory of everyone that attended. So what comes next? Well some fans are anticipating this
01:20leading to some more music but a piece on our website states that bookmakers are optimistic that at the
01:25very least a live album will be released after these gigs so for those that couldn't attend they'll
01:29still be able to experience some of the magic from their own homes. It's been a special week
01:32and will never be forgotten but I'm sure that there will be some who hope that the topic dies down for
01:36a bit now so we'll try our best to focus on different topics for a while. Thank you very much for
01:41watching Manchester World. That's all for now and we'll see you again next time.
