Hello, I'm Nathan Judo, I'm here with Wolves reporter, Mr Liam Keane, where has finished
00:14
Wolverhampton Wanderers won, the mystery club, the mystery club, Burnley won, Burnley, yes
00:20
it was, Wolves against Burnley this afternoon, and let's do the takeaways first, first of
00:25
the team that started the game, Liam, pretty much I would say, the best available team
00:30
to Vito Pereira, which was quite telling.
00:32
Yeah, I think so, obviously we've got a couple of players that aren't here, Hugo Bueno and
00:36
Rodrigo Gomez, so they can't be taken into account, and that's particularly evident with
00:41
him playing left wing-back in this game, Bellegarde started left wing-back on this occasion, Bueno
00:46
you would imagine would have played there had he been available, so otherwise, yeah, pretty
00:50
much what we would expect to be the best available team, the team that's, you know, going to
00:56
go into the season, bar signing some other players going back, of course, as well, so, and I thought
01:01
actually intensity-wise, I thought he took another step up, I thought Wolves actually started
01:06
very well in the game, got the goal, which I don't want to do it, am I going to take the
01:12
question off you, I'll go straight into it, got a goal, beautiful cross from Keanu Hoover, again,
01:25
another player who may or may not be here going forward, he's done a decent job overall, I think,
01:29
I think that's fair, I think he's done pretty well, and it was Larsson with a very neat finish, sort of
01:35
arriving near post in the far corner, and yeah, very nice goal, he only had a couple of small moments in
01:41
that half, but Wolves overall did pretty well. That's where Vitor want Larsson, though, poaching
01:45
in around that box, and maybe he didn't do enough of that last season, I thought it was a really nice,
01:48
like I say, a nice finish. Yeah, he really was, and I think on Larsson in particular, he showed a
01:53
little bit more devilment about him, I thought, recently, holding the ball up a bit better,
01:57
I think he's a little bit more aggressive, so all of these things play into his and Wolves' advantage
02:02
at the moment. Yeah, interesting on the goalkeeper situation, we didn't see Sam Johnston in the first
02:06
game, but we saw him start today. We did, yeah, and I actually thought he did pretty well.
02:09
Yeah, I thought he did well, claimed it strong. He came out and claimed a really dangerous cross
02:13
at one point, put his body on the lines really well. Look, I know his season didn't go particularly
02:18
well at Wolves, but he is an experienced guy, he knows what he's doing, he knows how to get
02:22
through a pre-season, and I think overall, actually, in training and what we saw in this game,
02:27
he's done pretty well. Totti Gomez, captain today. We see he's captain in the first half
02:32
against Santa Clara, but Matt Doherty, captain in the second half, Matt Doherty went back to that right
02:37
centre-back spot, so he started the game, so it's interesting to see between those two,
02:40
and it was Totti who got the armband and actually played the full 90 minutes.
02:43
He did, and apart from one small error, which didn't really lead to anything in the first
02:50
half down in the far end, I thought he was excellent, to be honest with Totti, I really did.
02:56
Again, it's pre-season, you don't want to go too dramatic on it, but he's very,
03:01
very aggressive, he's very athletic, and obviously being the left footer, the balance of this team
03:06
is really suited to having him in there. I thought he's done really well, and obviously for him to
03:12
be captain and play the 90, which only a couple of players did play the 90, was potentially quite
03:18
telling as well. I'm pleased for him, because he's come on quite a journey at Wolves, and
03:24
yeah, he's looking at a really good play, so a good stride.
03:28
You say Larson opened the scoring, could have been opened a few minutes earlier,
03:31
it was very unlucky, Jean-Marie Bellegarde with a beautiful volley, gorgeous volley from distance
03:35
inside of the post, and then straight into the keeper's hands.
03:38
Yeah, I think it was a corner, wasn't it? It got cleared out into the edge of the box,
03:42
volleys in the first time, I think it was his right foot, was it? I think it was,
03:46
we're sort of sat right behind it as well, beautiful angle of it, and it looks clearly like it's going in,
03:52
either side of the post, straight into the goalkeeper's hands, I think it just couldn't be
03:55
any more unlucky, even just a nasty bounce off the keeper, he might get the goal still, but
03:59
yeah, really unfortunate, but beautiful effort, yeah, would have been a great way to open the score.
04:03
Just a word on Fir Lopez as well, like I said, caught the eye in the back end of that game against
04:06
Santa Clara, and I thought there was some nice movement, coming deep to get the ball, wasn't he?
04:10
But you can see visually, he knows where to thread the ball through. Some things didn't come off,
04:14
a little bit, but I think physically, you look at him, and we'll look at him maybe when he did the
04:18
interview, and he's quite a slight guy, but on the pitch he commands, he's got that more physical
04:21
presence, you know, I think he's not going to be someone who's just going to be weights off the
04:24
ball, I think he'll come into this and he'll hold his own. Yeah, for sure, and to start with a very
04:28
small negative, something that I picked up on, I think he was holding onto the ball a bit too much
04:33
at times, turning into danger a couple of times, but when he does open his body up, when he does turn
04:37
into space, he's very intelligent, great vision, picked out a lovely pass, picked out one particularly
04:43
really nice pass in the first half of Munezzi, and who, by the way, Munezzi I thought did pretty
04:48
well actually in the front three, came into midfield in the second half and was a little bit quieter,
04:51
thought in the front three, actually did pretty well today in the first half, but that ball through
04:55
to him was beautiful, and he's able to pick that sort of moment of magic, there's little special
05:00
moments that can unlock defences, look, he's still young, he's going to need a bit of time, but if he can
05:05
adapt and get used to Premier League and start to do these in Premier League games, do these moves, have these
05:09
moments with your passes, he can unlock things and open things up for dangerous forwards. Yeah, and
05:13
just an interesting one, and one for I guess for the season, it'd be interesting to see if he does
05:17
do that, but set pieces, especially corners, really good delivery as well from that left foot. Yeah,
05:22
really good, so they were doing a lot of in-swinging corners, really good from Fairlopers on the
05:27
right-hand side in-swing with his left foot, and actually Belegaard was taken on the other side,
05:30
and put some fantastic corners, it's a really, really good one. It's nice that we can get past the first man, to be fair.
05:34
Well, you took the words right over my mouth. Couldn't you in Sarabia either side, I mean Craig.
05:37
We were used to watching it, and to be fair, even before that, I think Jermotinho was pinging them
05:43
off the first man every time. But there were some really good ones, and in-swinging ones,
05:47
right on top of the goalkeeper. None of them came off today, but it's really difficult for the
05:52
goalkeeper to deal with, and you've got big guys like Agba and Larsson throwing their bodies at it,
05:55
so Minetsi as well. So yeah, those hopefully can be an area the Wolves will improve on for next season,
06:01
because we know that they've not scored anywhere near enough goals from set pieces or from defenders
06:05
in the last few years. Well, they were changing the second half, but the majority of the players
06:08
started the second half, apart from the goalkeeper Dan Bentley came in, but it was a bit more disjointed,
06:13
as you'd expect. Yeah, as you'd expect. They played about 60, it was about the 62nd minute,
06:18
I think it was, and then, yeah, a raft about eight or nine changes at that point, and yeah,
06:23
it wasn't the most exciting second half, really. Burnley obviously got their goal, got their equaliser,
06:28
Pedro Lima got beaten at the far post, and then sort of dropped into the box, and it was a finish.
06:35
Otherwise, there wasn't really a lot to talk about in that second half, it was very much a training
06:38
game, wasn't it? Which is, you know, the whole purpose of them being here at the moment, so yeah,
06:42
1-1 and not too much to take away from that second half, but yeah, Wolves' time in Portugal comes to
06:48
end with a draw. Not too much to take away in that second half, a lot to take away from last night,
06:53
Liam. What a great segue. Because we went back to the team hotel for the final time,
06:57
and we got an exclusive interview with Mr Vito Pereira, who was on good form, you will know what,
07:02
part of what he said, if you're watching this video later on this evening, or maybe you haven't,
07:07
if you're watching it earlier, but he was very strong, very passionate, and it was an excellent
07:11
interview, wasn't it? Really, really good, really, really good, and obviously it's important for us to
07:15
talk about it on the podcast and videos, because there's only so much you can do to convey in the
07:20
written word exactly what he was like. But his demeanor's very relaxed, very relaxed,
07:25
he obviously wants signings, and he obviously wants players to come in. It's a perfect timing
07:31
to get attacked while I'm trying to explain the most important part of the video.
07:34
All your fans, all your fans. What is it, flies to what? That's poor, that's very poor.
07:40
Yeah, obviously you want to try and convey exactly what he's like. Very relaxed, you know,
07:45
you've gotten well with him and he's very easy to talk to, but equally, he knows what he wants.
07:49
Yeah. But there's no, there's this sort of drama that's been made out of falling out,
07:55
it's just not accurate. So the atmosphere has been very good, but he also is a manager that needs,
08:01
needs is an important word, and wants more signings. So there'll be lots to come from this interview,
08:06
and we're looking forward to putting it out. Absolutely we are. Our time in Portugal comes to a close,
08:11
but we're back next week in sunny old England. Hopefully sunny. At Stoke on Saturday.
08:16
Come on. It's a bit different. And yeah, there'll be plenty more content to come. And of course,
08:20
that Vitor Pereira interview today, there'll be some more tomorrow, plenty on Monday,
08:24
and all the way through next week. There's some really, really interesting things that he said to
08:27
us from me from Keno. Have a good one. Take care.
