Long queues were reported in all major entry points nationwide after tens of thousands of foreigners were unable to use the autogate facility.

However, Malaysian passport holders were able to use the autogates without any issues.

The breakdown, which started at about noon on Friday (July 18), has been described as the worst ever, involving more than 200 autogates nationwide.

00:09The breakdown, which started around noon on Friday, affected over 200 autogates, making it the worst breakdown.
00:16Malaysian passport holders, however, remain unaffected and were still able to use the autogates.
00:22Among the affected major gateways included were KLIA Terminal 1 and 2, the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar CIQ in Johor Bahru, and the Sultan Abu Bakar CIQ in Gilang Patah.
00:35Immigration officers were instructed to open all counters and process passports manually to speed up clearance.
00:42Authorities say they are working to fix the system and have not ruled out sabotage or hacking.
00:47The public is urged to be patient as investigations continue.
