Former Labor leader Mark Latham has made a lengthy statement to the media following allegations of inappropriate behaviour in parliament and abuse accusations from an ex-partner.
00:00Independent NSW State MP Mark Latham has faced mounting political pressure over the week
00:08over alleged inappropriate behaviour in NSW Parliament and his relationship with former partner Natalie Matthews.
00:15The former federal Labor leader has again denied allegations of emotional and physical abuse levelled at him by Ms Matthews.
00:21In a media statement lasting more than half an hour, he also addressed reports that he participated in a consensual sex video in his office.
00:28While refusing to confirm or deny whether he had sex in his office, he's insisted he had no knowledge of any such video.
00:36I have checked my devices and I can't find any material she has filmed involving me and sent me and that includes NSW Parliament House.
00:46If she has recorded these videos, it has been without my knowledge and consent and there's a question about the legality of such a practice.
00:54Mr Latham also addressed media reports that he took photos of female colleagues in Parliament and made disparaging comments about them in private messages.
01:02I did though make a mistake in taking two photos in the chamber and then trusting them privately to Natalie Matthews.
01:08I've apologised to both Susan Carter and Abigail Boyd and they've accepted my apology for which I thank them both sincerely.
01:14While NSW Premier Chris Minns has suggested he be investigated by the Privileges Committee, Mr Latham has maintained he broke no rules in Parliament and has again insisted he's received no notification of any complaints about his conduct.
01:30May others indeed...
01:36I hope so.
