00:00President Donald Trump was just diagnosed with a condition that affects up to 40 percent of
00:04Americans, and many don't even know they have it. Reports state the White House announced Thursday
00:09that the president had been diagnosed with a chronic vein condition following speculation
00:13sparked by photos showing bruising on his hand. After noticing swelling in his legs,
00:18the president underwent a comprehensive exam, including vascular testing, according to press
00:23Secretary Caroline Leavitt, who explained that the bruising on his hand is likely due to tissue
00:27damage from frequent handshakes while taking aspirin, which is part of his standard cardiovascular
00:32prevention routine. A note from the White House physician shared with reporters described the
00:37condition as benign and common, particularly among individuals over 70 years old. But some critics
00:42aren't so sure about calling it harmless. One ex-user pointed out, the veins are slow in returning blood
00:48to the heart, and you describe his condition as being in great health. Perhaps he doesn't need a heart.
00:53According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, chronic venous insufficiency, or CVI, occurs when the veins in
01:00your legs can effectively return blood to your heart, which can cause it to flow backwards and
01:05pull in the legs. While reports state CVI is usually manageable and not life-threatening, it can be more
01:11than just a minor inconvenience. And according to Dr. Sean Lydon, chair of vascular surgery at the
01:16Cleveland Clinic, who explained, for most people it's nothing except for some leg swelling. By the time
01:21patients with CVI go to bed, they might notice the, quote, big sock lines, that indent skin where
01:27socks hit. Fortunately, CVI is highly treatable, especially when caught early, with medical reports
01:33stating most patients are advised to wear compression stockings, elevate their legs, and stay physically
01:38active to help improve blood flow. And in some cases, minimally invasive procedures, like vein
01:44ablation or stenting, may be recommended if symptoms worsen, which could be why Trump's medical team
01:49isn't sounding the alarm on anything too serious at the moment. In fact, his physician emphasized
01:54there's no cause for concern, writing that overall the president is in excellent health. But what's
