00:00Security authorities. Now let's listen to Jorge, to Minister Diostado Cabello. This
00:10moment is offering statement. Let's listen. Well, Venezuelan from here, from the airport,
00:20finishing the welcoming, the last of the 252 Venezuelans, kidnapped by miserable Nayib Bukele,
00:31by criminal Nayib Bukele of El Salvador. They were freed. Look, those men came with wounds.
00:40All of them were beaten on a daily basis. They shot at them with rubber bullets. They
00:52have marks all over their body. The food was a disaster. Only once a day they received
01:00a meal. What was the intention? To harm Venezuelans. Well, they achieved that. But also they managed
01:08to unite the Venezuelan people and also reinforce the decision of President Maduro when he made
01:15a compromise, even at the high price that we had to pay. Could be high, but it's a group
01:28of Venezuelans that even they say this, they were threatened with 30 and 20 and 30 years
01:36of prison. Under what criteria? These boys are 18, 20, 24. I think the oldest of them has 36
01:47years old. All of them are young men. Nayib Bukele, in an attempt to sabotage the direct negotiations
01:56between the government of Venezuela and the US, this plane, he decided to put trucks in front
02:05of the airplane. They didn't want this second airplane to head for Venezuela because he was
02:12receiving money because of these migrants. And he said goodbye to these boys with rubber
02:20bullets. And he had to speak with the masters, with the negotiators of the US to force him
02:26to let this airplane to depart to Venezuela. And even though he's there saying that thanks
02:34to him, no, thanks to him, no. In spite of him, he was not taken into account. It was a direct
02:41negotiation. And the US said you need to hand over the people you have there. And Bukele impided,
02:48we tried to halt this airplane to depart for Venezuela. But we have reasons to smile. Today,
02:55we received seven boys, five boys and two girls. Also, over 200 Venezuelans arrived. And now,
03:05we are going to keep working to recover all of the Venezuelans and even more those who are
03:11being subjected to persecution and torture in the United States. They need to... This could
03:18mean that they are regretting this reunite, if there is any question. Minister, good evening.
03:32Could you precise, please, because the statement, it was reiterated by the authorities.
03:39You have paid a high price. Could you please precise the number of Venezuelans who were also given
03:54the legal... Well, this has nothing to do. It is a gestion administration of former President
04:04Rodriguez Zapatero. This has nothing to do in this account. Venezuelans did not negotiate
04:11it with the United States. Venezuela, it was a sovereign decision of Venezuela. And the President,
04:17Rodriguez Zapatero, has been, since the very first day, working and making contact. And
04:23it was thanks to Rodriguez Zapatero's actions. And they decided to hand over 10 terrorists, 10 mercenaries.
04:31Even they took a killer condemned to 30 years in prison because he was a U.S. agent. We handed over
04:42mercenaries, a former naval army as well, that had actions in Central America and Iran. And also handed over
04:53agents infiltrated in Venezuela. And we gave them in exchange of these Venezuelans. And for Venezuelans,
05:04we handed over 80. But it is a decision, a sovereign decision of the President, thanks to the President,
05:11of Rodríguez Zapatero. That's the truth. Minister, there could be legal actions against El Salvador,
05:19what actions could be made for, in some way, safeguard the human rights of these people who are
05:25returning at the country. And to know if you mentioned that there were over 252 Venezuelans. Is that ratified?
05:33Are there any Venezuelans in El Salvador already? Well, in the face of these circumstances, of a void of
05:45legality, you don't know where to go. We have been denouncing in the face of all the international
05:52bodies who have done nothing. We have even created a committee of family members evidencing what this
06:01criminal was doing to Venezuelan people. And they decided when they sent 252 Venezuelans, they said they
06:09were going to send others, but that didn't happen. And I asked, and they said that there were only 252.
06:19They said also that there were women, but they handed over back to them. And it was irrational to send
06:27someone to a country where they didn't commit any crime there. There are 7 with grave felonies of 252 people.
06:37Only 7 have criminal charges. All that rhetoric and narrative to speak about them of being criminals.
06:47They are young men. Is it a crime to be a Venezuelan citizen? Is it a crime to be willing to work?
06:55They were satanized. They were humiliated in front of the world. Now they are at peace in Venezuela.
07:03And those who have troubles with justice will have to go and face justice. And now we, as soon as they
07:12went inside the airplane, we said this because their situation from being kidnapped without committing crimes
07:19crimes is very different if you actually committed any crime. And those who are on their charges of
07:27criminal actions in Venezuela will face justice. During the negotiations with the United States, did you
07:35receive any guarantee that no more Venezuelans are going to be sent to El Salvador? It is impossible. It is complex. It is complex.
07:45When someone says something and does the contrary. They shouldn't have sent not even one to El Salvador and they
07:55sent 252. They shouldn't be persecuting Venezuelans, but they do. And they should not be demonizing Venezuelans, but they do.
08:04And we cannot believe in any words in the middle of these negotiations. We acted in consequence of what they
08:15asked for. And we received in return 252. They criminalized them, but only seven of 252 had criminal charges.
08:26Minister, we want to know how many wounded did you count with the denunciation you made? And when can we know who are the
08:3680 opposition leaders who received charges? Some of them have been mentioning these criminal actions.
08:46When with those who have been sitting under the initiative of Rodrigo Zapatero, who has been always attentive of the peace and
08:58tranquility of Venezuela in their democratic process. In a statement we thanked Zapatero, but what you mentioned of who are, they are coming out to the light now.
09:10No, I don't have the list. William Davila came out, as I remember. But I can't remember any other. Because Davila, I know who he is.
09:25But the rest of them, I don't know their names. And that has to do with a negotiation that we have been doing.
09:34They know none of them that are coming out are babies. And they know of what they were charged with. It is a measure to seek peace and
09:49tranquility. President Nicolás Maduro said that this is not the first time it happens, not even now, not even a few years ago.
09:56This revolution hit two times amnesty to Leopoldo López. The wounded. Well, there are young men. In the first batch there were like 20 boys with wounds. And then 30 of them in the second group. If you can see their backs, they have marks all over.
10:23For example, when we used, we are very young to know what pain is, but it's like a table. They were hit with a table. They had the, one of them have an infection in a leg. A boy from La Sabana. An infection that is even close to lose a leg.
10:46Because he never did treatment. It is not like they were treated. They were mistreated as well. They weren't treated as human beings. They were treated as beasts.
10:58This regarding the human condition. Now we are at peace. And in the course of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, they are going to be reunited with their families. And they went from hell to the homeland.
11:15Great night for everyone. We want to thank the return of 252. Thanks to God and the effort of our country. In the case of the children, what's the next step? Today we received seven boys and girls. When are coming the other 25?
11:32I want to take advantage of the president. I want to take advantage of this position. President Nicolás Maduro thanked Donald Trump because it was a direct negotiation. And I also want, and I'm very sure that they are thankful for us because we took a big weight from their shoulders.
11:51It was a negotiation. But beyond that, of what you mean about the boys, many of them were in fear. Most of those who have returned were afraid to mention that their children were left behind.
12:15But now, little by little, they are even denunciating that their boys and girls are there. And we have 32. And now we received and we saved seven. Now we have still 25 more left. And we hope that this list doesn't grow any longer.
12:36The United States is saying that the boys are not a problem of exchange, but a humanitarian path. And we are asking them to return these children to us. They shouldn't be forced to separated from their parents. And in that case, you need to return all of those children that you have kidnapped in the US to Venezuela. This is like a string.
13:04We will have to see what happens. We will have to see what happens. Those were the statements of the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello during the welcoming of these two airplanes with 252 Venezuelan migrants.
13:22And this is a moment in which the whole nation and also the whole world has been seen as a day of victory, a moral victory for Venezuela. We were seeing statements of Minister Diosdado Cabello.
13:36He said that many of these young boys who have returned to the country have even marked on their bodies of the torture they were subjected to. This is a moment precisely of hope. There are many reasons to smile, as the minister said. And this is a moral victory for Venezuela.
13:57252 Venezuelan citizens are already in their homeland. This is hope for the moment, but stay tuned with Telesur English for all the information on this paramount event.
