01:04Could you imagine being the king of the monsters and locking eyes on Lockjaw here?
01:08Before that, we get a closer look at the new Star Race Godzilla vs. Kong Mechagodzilla Deluxe version.
01:12I'd like to first back it up a bit and thank the team at Star Race that provided this sample.
01:16This statue is slated to drop the third quarter of 2025.
01:20The online sites that usually have listings for Star Race also have the pre-order for this guy up right now
01:25for $399.99.
01:28Some assembly is required. It's actually just the back of the tail.
01:31I'll show you guys how that attaches in a moment.
01:33And this guy also does light up.
01:35There's a lot that we're going to be able to talk about,
01:37but the first thing I really want to tell you guys is just how tall it actually is.
01:40First, though, for its height and then for its length.
01:42For its height, Mechagodzilla stands at 11 inches.
01:47That's going to translate, though, to a statue that's 28 centimeters tall.
01:51Then we're going to go ahead and just spin the statue,
01:53and you can see really how big it is once you attach the tail.
01:56From the end of its tail to then the front of its snout,
01:59Mechagodzilla is going to be 16 inches in length, or roughly 40 centimeters long.
02:05As for the things that come in clear with the statue,
02:07first you get yourself an instruction sheet.
02:09Actually, you get an instruction sheet times two.
02:11One side, though, does show you the installation of the tail,
02:14but basically you're just going to take the tail and twist it onto the back of its body.
02:18If the images don't seem clear enough, don't worry,
02:21I'll show you guys how that attaches in a second.
02:23The second sheet shows you that there is some articulation.
02:26It's actually more just in the hands.
02:27It does also give you a warning for the tail that even though it does bend,
02:30don't bend it to extremes.
02:32And it also does show you, though, in the deluxe version where you can plug in the adapter.
02:36It does come with a cable, which I'll also show you.
02:38It's right over there.
02:39But there is also a possibility that you can pick up the portable charger.
02:43It's also sold separately.
02:45Let's move that off to the side.
02:46Now, I did say that it comes in clear with a charging cable.
02:48The cable, to be fair, though, isn't very long.
02:51One thing, at least, though, is it uses USB-C.
02:54So we're just going to go and slide this out of the bag.
02:57It's still tied up just because I actually have myself a USB-C cable right over here.
03:01I'll plug it in in a second.
03:02But I did want to be able to at least do it, so I wanted to make sure it was long enough
03:06to connect my cord over there.
03:07I'm sure, though, if you have yourself a little USB-enabled, like a hub, a little portable
03:13charger, for example, you could also even just plug it in that way.
03:16You can also go as well and pick up the portable adapter or the portable charger and all of a
03:20sudden have it.
03:21If it's, say, out of your way and it's just out of your reach, you don't really have accessibility
03:24to a USB port, then you could also use yourself the little charger pack.
03:30I'm going to put this back in the bag, though, just because, again, I already have myself
03:32a cable plugged in.
03:33Good and ready.
03:35Also, too, getting things good and ready, you're going to also have to attach the tail.
03:38Now, the tail, I'm just going to twist this off here for a second.
03:42It attaches by, well, first of all, you've got yourself two screws on the back of its body.
03:47And then, if you look at this, how this works is there's basically like a little slot
03:51here, a little canal.
03:52See, it starts on this side and makes its way over here.
03:56So, when you attach the tail, what you have to do is you attach it so that the spines
04:00are facing this way, because you're going to have to twist the tail around.
04:04So, you just slot it in place, line up the grooves, and then when you have everything
04:08in place, twist the tail up, and then it locks everything in place.
04:13Now, the tail does have some flexibility, but even as listed in the instructions, you don't
04:17want to go too extreme, just because, again, like the light's going to have to run all the
04:20way through this.
04:21The light actually does a pretty good job of illuminating the entire tail, but I would
04:25personally, myself, only just bend the tail just a little bit.
04:28You don't want to really bend it too much, because it may also start to crack the plastic.
04:31But the tail looks really neat, very long, very imposing.
04:35It is also going to give you an option to light this up with, if you get the deluxe version,
04:40that is.
04:40Deluxe version is going to be the statue that does light up.
04:44It does have some possibility.
04:45I guess we can kind of run through that quickly.
04:46The hands are the only thing really on the statue that do twist around, so you can take
04:51like the big giant claws, turn it on this one, and you can also turn it up on here.
04:55I do wish that they could have found a way to maybe incorporate some head articulation,
04:59just so you'd be able to turn this around.
05:01My guess, though, is they wanted to really make a continuous light source, because when
05:05it illuminates, it basically illuminates right from the top all the way down to the tippy
05:08tip of the tail.
05:09Some nice sculpting, though, goes into the Mechagodzilla, whether you like this look
05:13of Godzilla as a Mechagodzilla, or if you really prefer the vintage look of Mechagodzilla.
05:19I really do like the design of this.
05:21I don't know if it's ever really going to trump the design of the original Mechagodzilla.
05:25That's still my personal favorite.
05:27I do think, though, it's very imposing, the way they've sculpted the face.
05:32All of this basically would have been cast, I'm guessing, in the red plastic, and then
05:36they very would have meticulously gone in there and painted the silver over top of it.
05:40So again, you've got a really nice-looking head sculpt.
05:42You can see as well that on the inside of the mouth, there seems to be almost like an
05:46even sculpted tongue.
05:47Nothing, again, on this does move, nor the head, nor the arms.
05:51Only really the hands are the only thing that does have some mobility.
05:54So nice sculpting also went into the arms and the rest of the body as well.
05:58Now, there is a panel.
06:00I'll show you guys where the panel is to connect the power source.
06:03But again, just to show you guys all the sculpting went into this.
06:05And being that it's also made of the material it is, it's very light.
06:09You don't really have to worry of picking this up and feeling like it's overly heavy.
06:13Because again, being that it's made of vinyl, it's an easy thing to carry from one area of
06:16your room to the other and then have it displayed there.
06:19But again, it's got some really nice paint being used in here.
06:21It's not really just the dark gray alone, the gunmetal gray.
06:24No, no, no.
06:25They've added a whole lot of nice lighter silver in there as well.
06:29Maybe perhaps there could have been an opportunity where they could have added a darker wash,
06:32at the very least, maybe to the face.
06:35So because there's so much sculpting going on to the head,
06:38the little wash of black paint, I think, could have gone a long way to bring out some of these
06:42details.
06:43But still, you can probably even make out that there's the eyes.
06:45There's a nice silver all around that.
06:47Silver on the top and the bottom.
06:48I guess what would be its manageable teeth.
06:51Yeah, it's a very cool sculpted statue.
06:54Like I said, though, it does light up, though.
06:55And in order to access the light source, you have to go to the back of its thigh.
06:59There are two panels.
07:00There's this one here and one over here.
07:02Only one of them obviously access the power supply.
07:05So what you're going to have to do is this little angles down like this.
07:09Just take your finger and just grab it from the sides and wiggle it back and forth.
07:14Now, you can only do it on the one side.
07:16If you try to do it on the other, there's no way that this is ever going to come off.
07:19And you'll see right there, there's the connecting port to plug in your USB-C.
07:24Now, and again, preparation for this.
07:25I got myself a longer cable just because it would be a lot easier.
07:28Here, just grab it over here.
07:30It would just be so much easier.
07:31I've got this.
07:32I mean, this thing's like probably like four feet long, but I'm going to plug this in.
07:35There's no on and off switch.
07:37So the moment you do plug this in, it'll illuminate right away.
07:41Just fit the plug in place.
07:43And there you can see now it illuminates the inside of the mouth, which probably would
07:47be the reason why they chose not to have this rotating or any possibility in the head.
07:51You can see how the eyes light up a burning red, as well as the interior of the mouth.
07:57Where they have not gone in there and painted, you can see now like the rib cage, for example,
08:02illuminate the side of the neck, all really the top of its spine section here and all the
08:07way down the tail.
08:09It's so bright.
08:10In fact, actually to the very end of the tail, you can still see a light source reaches
08:13it.
08:14I love the spikes that they've also added to the end of that long row of spikes.
08:18There's about three rows, as you can see there, gradually starting small, working their way
08:23to be much larger, and then again, tapering off to the end of the tail.
08:27Again, like there's a little bit of posability to the tail, so you can extend it fully if
08:31you want.
08:31For the nature of obviously having this taking up so much space, you may choose to probably
08:36have the tail a little bit more curled up, just because it's not going to be taking as
08:40much real estate space.
08:41I did though want to also cut the lights to show you what the statue would look like with
08:45the lights turned off, because then you get the full effect, the full experience of
08:48how this guy illuminates.
08:50Few, I would think, would cut the lights completely, because then you wouldn't be able to make out
08:53the statue.
08:54Why I turned them all off, though, was just so you guys can see how bright the lights
08:58actually glow.
08:59As I spin the statue around, parting that you may be able to hear the cord dragging, you
09:03can see how the eyes, for example, are glowing this bloody red.
09:07The inside of the mouth, for example, probably seems to be the brightest area, and that's
09:11actually a cool thing, too, because it does look like it's charging up a blast.
09:14How all down the side of the neck, for example, it illuminates, all across the front of its
09:19ribcage.
09:20And as I tip the statue up, how brightly you can see that it glows in between its metal
09:25platelets.
09:26Now, if you are wondering the differences between the normal version and deluxe version
09:29of Mechagodzilla, from the sculpting of the statue, they seem to be the same.
09:33In fact, the only thing that is different about the deluxe version is the fact it does illuminate,
09:37and it does require, of course, a plug that goes on the back of its leg.
09:40That's going to translate, though, to a difference between this and the normal of $20.
09:44The normal version was selling for $379.99, whereas the deluxe version was selling for
09:49$3.99.
09:50Now, for a $20 difference, honestly, if I had the choice, I'd definitely go with the
09:54illumination.
09:55It does bring a little bit more color to this.
09:58Now, it does already have that, obviously, on the standard version, but there's something
10:02to be said about the fact that you can go in there and turn the statue on.
10:05The statue doesn't really have an on and off switch, so it really only works by plugging
10:10in the cable.
10:11The USB-C cable is at least included.
10:14It's not very long, though, but if you already have, like I have, a USB cable that's long
10:17enough, you can easily plug this into any USB-enabled device, whether it be a hub or whether it
10:22just be a plug-in socket, and then it would just illuminate all the time.
10:26You can also, as well, go with a portable charger, but that's something that Starry's
10:30sells separately.
10:32If you also just have yourself, like, an external battery supply, I mean, how many people have
10:36those for charging their phones?
10:37It would really work the exact same way.
10:39You just would have to just plug in your USB to that, and then you would just always be
10:43able to illuminate Mechagodzilla.
10:45This one, again, is going to be slating to drop the third quarter of 2025.
10:49The standard is going to be also the same.
10:51I'd like to thank the folks over at Starry's that did provide this sample of the new Godzilla
10:55vs. Kong Mechagodzilla.
10:57And in this review, we had the chance to have a look at the deluxe version.
11:00What do you guys think of this one?
11:01Let me know down below in the comments section.
11:03Have you guys already pre-ordered the Mechagodzilla?
11:05And if you have the choice, would you go with more of the regular version, or would you rather
11:09go with the happier, the cooler feature of having it be an illuminate with the deluxe?
11:14Which version of Mechagodzilla would you guys want to go with instead?
11:18If you guys did also enjoy this video, you can do it certainly a solid by hitting it with
11:21a like.
11:22You guys want to stick around for more so?
11:23Yeah, I hope so.
11:24So, by the way, even though we are kind of wrapping up things right now for a mechanized
11:28Godzilla, there in fact will be some more Starry's Godzilla reviews in the pipeline and
11:33coming your way.
11:34As always, guys, thanks for watching.
11:36See you guys next time.
