00:00All season long, the finale, the title decider, under the lights here in Abu Dhabi, it's light
00:06down, away we go and Hamilton gets a decent start and he's already ahead of Max Verstappen,
00:11there's a bit of jockeying going on between Sonoda and Ricciardo, Hamilton leads into the
00:15first corner, Norris goes wide, Sergio Perez slips through in the first place, there comes
00:19Carlos Sainz, but it's Hamilton out in front, the medium tyres working well for him as his
00:24teammate Valtteri Bottas challenges the Ferrari, into the hairpin we go now, Hamilton leads
00:29Bottas leads Perez, then leads Norris, then the two Ferraris, Sainz and Leclerc, it is
00:34a dream, it involves to make a decision one way or another, but it's Hamilton out in front,
00:38will he have to give the place back or will he keep the lead?
00:42I think that's clear cut for me anyway, but we're talking team play here with Red Bull
00:47second and third, Valtteri Bottas has now dropped down to eighth, there we go, go ahead Jonathan
00:55so, I've just seen it again, Max is ahead at the apex, stays on the track, Jonathan, he's
01:01forced him out, sideways, he pushed Lewis out of play, but look at that, the Red Bull of
01:06Verstappen just barely moved initially, did it, it bogged down on him and there is then
01:12Perez taking third place as Lando Norris goes wide, comes back in, doesn't gain any advantage
01:19and you can see Bottas falling behind, focus on, focus on the race now and we've got to
01:23do it, do it the hard way, Christian, there will be a lot of people watching Formula One
01:28for the first time ever, when they're presented with a no action for one incident, no action
01:34for another, they'll find it hard to believe, that's a total lack of consistency, well, you
01:39know, the race director made it very clear before the race that you had to stay within the
01:42white lines, Max did that, you know, Lewis gained an advantage by going off track, he didn't
01:47concede it, he didn't give anything back, so that was our position, but anyway, we're
01:51focused on the race and still a long way to go. Christian, thanks ever so much for
01:55joining us, we appreciate your instant reaction there, that's what we were talking to Christian,
02:00we saw Sebastian Vettel and Lund. Seconds are faster than the tail end of the top 10 and
02:06that's the window they'll be looking for, 23, 24 seconds to get Verstappen in and try and
02:12come up with a new solution. Yeah, the gap that is appearing that I'm sure they'd like to
02:17fit into is just behind Sergio Perez and just in front of Carlos Sainz. Fourth, Hamilton's
02:21made his pit stop, he's second, and if you're a SkyQ or a Skyglass customer and you're just
02:26joining us this afternoon, well, if you press your red button, you can watch the highlights
02:30alongside the live action and this is Charles Leclerc as Max Verstappen comes out of the pits.
02:36Was he distracted, was it something to do with the car?
02:39He got a swapper on, look at that, he was probably, he turned in to three and had to counter-steer
02:44into a massive slide. Remember, he's gone from a turn 15, it's a bit of a handful, it certainly
02:50was then, it was a handful of opposite lock. It certainly was and it's cost him maybe the
02:55chance to get past Carlos Sainz here but he's got DRS, he's got an extra nine miles an hour
02:59so pace advantage but he's too far back. Yeah, I agree with you, that's wrecked his chance
03:04of passing him down the first straight, he's got another chance now but it looks a bit
03:09lumpy coming out of there. From Lewis Hamilton and then comes Max Verstappen after this move,
03:16nicely executed but to be fair, Sainz wasn't really fighting him into turn six.
03:20No, Carlos knows that's not his fight for this evening, he's up against Lando Norris and the
03:25McLaren and his teammate Charles Leclerc as well and a very strong. Somewhat but this is really
03:32playing the team game for Sergio Perez who gave his teammate a brilliant toe to try and help him
03:36to pole in yesterday's qualifying. Sainz is now pitting as you can see in the left-hand side of
03:41your screen but Lewis with a good exit here should be able to get past Perez. Yeah, he'll have DRS,
03:45Perez will have saved his battery for attack down here but he can weave around a bit but in the end
03:52the track is too wide. Lewis will be nervous of the back of the Red Bull and Perez will have a
03:57lunge up the inside. Inevitably, Lewis cuts back underneath him and that's exactly what we expected
04:05to happen. He will now drive past him, give him a cheering little wave and that was about all Perez
04:11could do or was it? Perez with DRS is coming back into turn nine. Can Perez make it into turn nine? He saved
04:18up a bit of energy from that battery store and with a bit of DRS possibly as well has blasted
04:24past Lewis Hamilton so he is going to hold him up just that little extra bit. This is a very very good
04:30tussle here. Perez has absolutely on the limit and as fair as he can be. And parked on the apex of the
04:37slow corners so plenty of battery in DRS and wow he breezed back past didn't he? Didn't he just?
04:44Although the Red Bull certainly with Max Verstappen it might still be his day here in Abu Dhabi this
04:50evening but he's going to have to produce a pretty epic champions drive from here. I did say that back
04:56in 2016. I didn't think it would take until at least 2022 before it happened. So this was on lap 20.
05:04Lewis Hamilton trying to get past Sergio Perez and if he was wary of any contact with the Red Bull he
05:10certainly didn't show it. He left enough space. Michael it's a bit dangerous. Can you warn them?
05:17So it's a lunge back up the inside down into turn six but. Meanwhile as we watch what happened on lap 20
05:25between Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton and how they came very very close together. I think Kimi
05:31Raikkonen's Formula One career has come to an end and he's stopped out on track. He's had a bit of a
05:37front wings flying but let's uh let's see what happened. So this is down into turn six and we had that
05:42that absolutely looked like a braking issue. Yeah it's uh like pulling the hats past at Charles Leclerc
05:49and it just seems that he had better traction coming out of the hairpin and Charles Leclerc as you
05:54mentioned Martin is rear end sliding around a little bit in previous laps just didn't have the
05:59grip to break as late as Bottas either and hold up the.
