00:00Mark Stoops is now the longest tenured head coach in the SEC after Saban leaving last year.
00:07This will be his 13th season as the man with the Wildcats.
00:13And to be fair, I know it's Kentucky, it's a basketball school.
00:18Probably the best job anyone's ever done in terms of football at Kentucky is the job that he's done there.
00:24Here he is talking about now having that distinguishment.
00:27When you have a down year, you have to stand up here, you have to own it, you have to face it,
00:32you know, talk about the things you're doing to address it, and then move on.
00:36I've stood up here after, you know, two ten-win seasons.
00:38That's only happened two times in the history of our school.
00:41You know, and I don't really want to talk about that year.
00:44I want to talk about this year, you know, so there's a fine balance there.
00:48So for me, it's just exciting.
00:49As I mentioned to your colleague there, to your right there,
00:54but, you know, it's really just, you know, excited about the opportunity.
00:58You know, really diving into the challenge that lies ahead of us
01:03and embracing that and having fun with it because, you know, this s*** is hard.
01:08And you might as well go enjoy it and dive into it.
01:11And there's a lot of people that can't do it and didn't do it for 12 years
01:15and didn't do it for 13 years and not in Kentucky.
01:17You look at the history of what we've done, and there's a lot of great ones
01:22that didn't make it very long.
01:23And so I'm proud of the run that we have.
01:27Yeah, I'll give you this.
01:29He has certainly been somewhat successful there
01:33and has made the program relevant in football
01:37at a place that all they care about is basketball.
01:41And that's all they'll ever care about is basketball.
01:43I mean, at UK, they just don't care about football.
01:50That's just it.
01:51And he's made them matter at the very least.
01:55And, you know, they've had success at some level.
01:58You know, he's still not a winning coach.
02:00As a head coach, he's got a losing record.
02:03That's just all there is to it.
02:05Yeah, it is at the end of the day.
02:07All right.
02:08They have a low win total as well
02:09because I think they were picked to be one of the bottom teams,
02:12four and a half, for Kentucky this year.
02:15God bless and good luck to Mark Stoops.
02:18I want to play you this Drinkwitz.
02:20He's, of course, the head coach of Missouri.
02:22This guy does have a little bit of a personality,
02:24but he's also a little out there as well.
02:26A lot of people have ideas, Scotty,
02:28for a new college football playoff format.
02:31I don't know if you need a pen and a paper
02:33or you need to try to keep up here,
02:35but listen to this guy start to rattle off
02:38how many teams he thinks should make it.
02:39My math could be wrong here,
02:42but if we did the 12, okay,
02:44and you had four automatic qualifiers,
02:46everybody thinks that's limiting.
02:47It's not limiting if you think about it from,
02:49you take those four automatic qualifiers
02:51and you divide that up into eight opportunities
02:53of eight play-in games.
02:55So now you're taking the SECs playing in for eight,
02:57you're taking the Big Tens playing in for eight.
03:00Since we've expanded the bubble, the 16,
03:03give three to the Big 12,
03:05three to the ACC, one, one.
03:07Now you've got 30 teams, 30 teams.
03:10Now we're talking about an opportunity for 30 teams,
03:1330 fan bases to be excited and engaged,
03:16engaged in giving revenue.
03:17Got 30 teams with players who have access
03:21to compete for a championship.
03:23And so for me, I think that makes a lot more sense.
03:26You know, again, when you're talking about
03:28the NFL playoff system, not only is it 14 teams,
03:30but you only have to be the best
03:31out of your four-team division.
03:33So you've got to compete against four teams
03:35in order to make the playoffs.
03:37You know, again, when you're at the University of Missouri,
03:39if you say, hey, you just have to finish in the top eight
03:42to have a chance to play in the playoffs,
03:44that's a win every day.
03:46Listen, he's tripping.
03:48He's absolutely tripping.
03:50If he thinks that they're going to have
03:5230 teams in that playoff, that's not happening.
03:56So right now, they're going to expand it.
03:58I think it's going to go to, what, a maximum of 16.
