At a summer camp in the woods, Max (Carl Fredericks), one of the counselors, decides to regale the campers and other counselors with a frightening tale of a local serial killer, Madman Marz (Paul Ehlers). As the story goes, if his name is uttered above a whisper, he will return to the area to kill. Unimpressed and unafraid, an impudent teen, Richie (Jimmy Steele), feels compelled to test the legend -- despite the deadly consequences. Within moments, Madman Marz is back again for blood.

00:00:00Oh
00:02:00A tree appeared with the breeze to kill them and to drag off their bodies.
00:02:14A chill in the air, the scent of death crawling, full moon the witness, as one by one they trespassed his ground and chose to take chances.
00:03:08And the doom, the wind held his mind, and a man turns to murder.
00:03:17Black gusts in the night, damp with their blood, death's breath in the night, dripping their blood, dripping their blood.
00:03:38Now it's time for my story.
00:03:48My story deals with a man who used to live in that old dilapidated house behind those trees.
00:03:56We're not supposed to be this close to it because many strange things happen around here.
00:04:04He was a farmer with his family, wife and two children.
00:04:10He was an evil man.
00:04:12Ugly and mean.
00:04:15He'd beat his wife and brutally punish his children.
00:04:21He'd drink at the tavern and fight all the time.
00:04:26He once had a piece of his nose bitten off in a brawl and didn't feel a thing.
00:04:31It was a night like tonight.
00:04:34Many, many years ago.
00:04:37Wait a minute.
00:04:38Now that I think about it, it was the same night as tonight.
00:04:44The woods, quiet and dark, the farmer, for no apparent reason, went stark raving mad.
00:04:57He walked into his bedroom with an axe in his hand and chopped his sleeping wife into little pieces.
00:05:04Then, with his bloodlust awakened, he walked down the hall to his son's room and took an axe to him.
00:05:12And he still wasn't finished.
00:05:14He walked across the hall to his daughter's room.
00:05:17And without so much as a word, he chopped her into little pieces too.
00:05:22Then, he calmly walked into the tavern, lifted the bloody axe onto the bar and ordered himself a beer.
00:05:31Well, it wasn't long before the town found out what happened.
00:05:34And when it did, it was all over for the mad farmer.
00:05:38Or so they thought.
00:05:39Ten men jumped him and dragged him screaming to the nearest tree where they quickly looped a thick rope around his neck and hoisted him high into the air.
00:05:49One of them grabbed the bloody axe and swung it at the farmer's head, leaving a deep, bloody gash in the side of his face.
00:05:56They left him there, hanging for dead.
00:06:00Next morning, when they went to cut him down, he was gone.
00:06:04It was then they noticed the bodies of his wife and children were missing.
00:06:08And their bodies have never been found.
00:06:12Oh, Max, come on.
00:06:14How could their bodies never be found?
00:06:16I mean, where could they be?
00:06:17I don't know, Richie.
00:06:19All I do know is that uncertain nights, when the moon is full, he's out there stalking in the woods, searching for people so he can chop their heads off with an axe or hang them from a tree.
00:06:35If you're trying to be funny or something, what's this farmer's name anyway?
00:06:39Huh, Richie.
00:06:40I have a good reason I haven't told you his name.
00:06:42A very good reason.
00:06:44You see, it is said also that if you say his name above a whisper in the woods, he will hear you, because he can be anywhere, anytime.
00:06:58And if he hears you call his name, he'll come for you.
00:07:03And if he comes for you, he'll get you.
00:07:07One by one, he'll start to fall before night's over.
00:07:14I'll get you all.
00:07:17His name is Madman Mars.
00:07:26What do you say?
00:07:27I couldn't hear him.
00:07:28His name is Mars.
00:07:30Madman Mars.
00:07:32Madman Mars.
00:07:33Hey Mars!
00:07:34Madman Mars!
00:07:35Here we are!
00:07:36Come and get us, Madman!
00:07:37Madman Mars!
00:07:38Oh, Richie, now you've done it.
00:07:39Don't you realize you're fooling with things beyond your control?
00:07:42The Madman Mars doesn't understand anymore.
00:07:43That Madman Mars thinks you're making fun of him.
00:07:44He didn't mean it, Mars!
00:07:45He's young and foolish and doesn't know what he's doing.
00:07:46Stay where you are.
00:07:47We mean you no harm.
00:07:48Let's hope that stopped him in time.
00:07:55If not, no one is safe in the woods tonight.
00:07:56Anyone alone in the woods.
00:07:57You can't hear him.
00:07:58You can't hear him.
00:07:59You can't see him.
00:08:00He smells this odor of death.
00:08:01You smell this odor of death.
00:08:02The Madman Mars.
00:08:03He's a fool of one.
00:08:04The Madman Mars doesn't understand anymore.
00:08:05That Madman Mars thinks you're making fun of him.
00:08:06He didn't mean it, Mars!
00:08:07He's young and foolish and doesn't know what he's doing.
00:08:08Stay where you are.
00:08:09We mean you no harm.
00:08:10Let's hope that stopped him in time.
00:08:12If not, no one is safe in the woods tonight.
00:08:15Anyone alone in the woods.
00:08:18You can't hear him.
00:08:20You can't see him.

00:14:20All right, you guys.
00:14:43You're released.
00:14:44Finish packing cleanups in a half hour.
00:14:46Who is it?
00:14:57It's me, Stacy.
00:14:59Come on in.
00:15:00What's up?
00:15:07Nothing.
00:15:08You feeling okay?
00:15:10Yeah, I'm fine.
00:15:11I always get quiet when it's over for the season.
00:15:14He never lets go, does he?
00:15:16No, he doesn't.
00:15:18He wants it to go on and on and on.
00:15:21You gonna see him in town?
00:15:23I don't know.
00:15:23Maybe I need some breathing room.
00:15:26Well, I'm happy to hear that you recognize the signs of a possessive male.
00:15:31They should have a big red warning light screwed into their foreheads flashing.
00:15:35Beware, beware.
00:15:36That wouldn't make it easier, wouldn't you?
00:15:39You could see them a mile away.
00:15:41Beep-boop, beep-boop, beep-boop.
00:15:45And yet there are things that I like about him.
00:15:48When we're alone, he's soft and tender.
00:15:50I don't know.
00:15:52It's so confusing.
00:15:53Tell me about it.
00:15:54They chase you till you have dead, get you, then try to get rid of you.
00:15:58Personally, I don't care which way they want it.
00:16:00Only make up your mind.
00:16:02You've had an interesting life, Stacy.
00:16:05Boring Betsy.
00:16:06I'm looking forward to finding me one man, and I'm gonna stay put.
00:16:11Anybody special in mind?
00:16:12A couple?
00:16:13I didn't say I wanted to stay put that fast.
00:16:16But my past is no secret to you.
00:16:20Listen, Stacy, I want to thank you for having an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.
00:16:26There were times I needed it.
00:16:27Okay, enough hearts and flowers.
00:16:30I'm glad you're feeling better.
00:16:31I just wanted to check and make sure.
00:16:33Thanks, I feel better.
00:16:36You know, Betsy, I don't have many women friends, and I think you're one of them.
00:16:41Well, I am.
00:16:42Hey, give me your number in the city, huh?
00:16:44Yeah, tomorrow.
00:16:45Better hurry, we've got clean up in a couple of minutes.
00:16:47See you later.
00:16:48Bye-bye.
00:16:49Bye.
00:16:50Hey, Max.
00:16:53Is your offer of 100 bucks to anyone who could pull the sacks out of here still good?
00:16:56Yeah, that's still good.
00:17:08Come on, Max.
00:17:09Give me a hand.
00:17:10Let's get the sacks out of here.
00:17:11Come on, Dippy.
00:17:23Come on, Dippy.
00:17:25Give us a hand.
00:17:26Oh, let it go, T.P.
00:17:43We lost.
00:17:44We lost.
00:17:46There'll be another time.
00:17:47Maybe.
00:17:47But I don't like losing.
00:17:49Losing, winning.
00:17:50What's the difference?
00:17:52Play the game with a fair heart, and you'll always be able to look yourself in the mirror.
00:17:58Play too hard to win, and you might not like what you become.
00:18:03You become a winner.
00:18:06That's what you become.
00:18:08Dippy, it's empty.
00:18:23There'll be another time.
00:18:25Let's go.
00:18:25I don't like it.
00:18:26Let's go.
00:18:27I don't like it.
00:18:27I don't like it.
00:18:28I don't like it.
00:18:29Oh, my God.
00:18:59I don't see Richie anywhere.
00:19:05He must have stayed back at the campfire.
00:19:07What are we going to do?
00:19:08We make up his bed like he's sleeping.
00:19:10We've got to give him more time to get back.
00:19:13Richie knows what he's doing.
00:19:29Richie knows what he's doing.
00:19:59Richie knows what he's doing.
00:20:29Richie knows what he's doing.
00:20:59I'll make this short and sweet.
00:21:24Thanks.
00:21:25Now I'll never stop.
00:21:26I think you all contributed something to the growth of the people as individuals and the kids in general that will stay with them the rest of their lives.
00:21:35Yeah, they'll never go out in the woods alone, ever again.
00:21:41Max, I'd like to say something about the campfire.
00:21:43Sure, Betsy.
00:21:46I know how you enjoy telling stories around a fire and I don't want to ruin it.
00:21:50But I'm concerned with the effect it has on the younger ones. They're in tears by the time it's over. I don't think it's good for them.
00:21:55Well, that's a good point. I never thought of that. I don't have any objections to excluding the younger kids from the campfire.
00:22:01Well, next year I'll scare the hell out of only the older ones. Okay, Betsy?
00:22:05I like to keep my staff happy. Within reason, of course.
00:22:09All right, I'm going into town to pick up the shutters from Sonny's and play some cards.
00:22:13Anybody need anything?
00:22:14Yeah, but you ain't going to find it. It's sunny.
00:22:18Down, girl. You'll be back in the big city in a day or two. You can get anything you want there.
00:22:24Hold it. I'm getting a bit too old for this kind of talk. I'm leaving.
00:22:30Oh, before I forget, that beer you've got hidden in the bottom of the refrigerator against orders?
00:22:36Save me one. I'll be back in a couple of hours. Keep a sharp eye on the kids.
00:22:43D.P., you're in charge.
00:22:44I'd like to get into something a bit more personal.
00:22:55Tonight, you all witnessed a scene between Betsy and me up at the campfire that should have never happened.
00:23:02I'd like to publicly apologize to Betsy and to the rest of you for subjecting you to my petty and selfish attitude.
00:23:10That's it, folks.
00:23:11I propose a toast.
00:23:21To friends and friendship, to love and lovers, may you always have more than you need.
00:23:41If you're going to ask why is this, why is that, it's up to you.
00:23:52And if you're going to ask why is this, why is this, why is that, it's up to you.
00:24:02But if you're going to ask me why, I love you like I do, I don't think I can explain, got no words to say it, I'd really rather play it out with you.
00:24:29Only know the feelings, chemistry revealing this simple truth. Should you feel it too? Please let your feelings through. Lord, get a grip on us too. Don't need words to know.
00:24:59Don't need words to know. How I feel about you. Don't need words.
00:25:18Magician does his magic, thrills you with a slick trick you never know.
00:25:27Just how he makes it happen. Find yourself just clapping and feeling good.
00:25:37Should the magic get you high. No need to wonder why. Come with me together. Let's count all the stars in the sky.
00:25:57Don't need words to know. How I feel about you. Don't need words. Don't need words.
00:26:17That's right. I was right in the middle. You didn't let me finish that.
00:26:20I was right in the middle.
00:26:43You didn't let me finish.
00:26:44You didn't let me finish.
00:26:50You didn't let me finish.
00:27:20You didn't let me finish.
00:27:22You didn't let me finish.
00:27:50Where am I?
00:28:20Damn.
00:28:50Okay girl, let's go, we can do it, up, that's it, go.
00:29:20Yes!
00:29:50Thanks, I love to feel the flames devour the wood, who says there's no beauty in destruction?
00:29:57I don't think there's beauty in any kind of destruction, for any reason.
00:30:03I'd say that depends on the reason, for as long as our reason stays reasonable.
00:30:10It's a frightening thing about us humans.
00:30:17You never really know what's in my mind at any given time.
00:30:24You never really know what's in my mind at any given time.
00:30:37You never know if I'm thinking rationally or if I've created some other reality that seems to fit, that seems to be normal.
00:30:50But you never really know what normal is to me.
00:30:57You never really know.
00:31:02Dave, are you okay?
00:31:04I'm not a poor self.
00:31:05I'm letting my emotions overcome my intellect.
00:31:09See what happens.
00:31:11See how easy it is to question another human mind.
00:31:17I can judge by your faces.
00:31:20There's a question about me.
00:31:22A touch of fear in your eyes.
00:31:25Who is this man?
00:31:26Where does he come from?
00:31:28I could take your bodies one at a time and hide them so no one would ever find them.
00:31:38I could chop off your head!
00:31:58There's a couple of things too.
00:32:02What did you do?
00:32:04Leave a cry for toothless.
00:32:05I didn't like it, I could.
00:32:07I don't let them know.
00:32:09I don't know.
00:32:10I haven't.
00:32:12I don't know.
00:32:13I don't know.
00:32:14I can't hear you.
00:32:16I don't know.
00:32:17Huh?
00:32:18I never know.
00:32:19A touch of faith.
00:32:21I don't know.
00:32:23I don't know.
00:32:24I hate it.
00:32:27Jimmy, can you tell me anything about where Richie the Wise Guy is?
00:32:41Okay, get back to sleep.
00:32:45Nobody leaves this cabin.
00:32:47That's an order.
00:32:57I'm going to try and find them.
00:33:06Why don't you get Bill and Dave to help?
00:33:08I lost them.
00:33:09It's my responsibility to find them.
00:33:11So dark out there.
00:33:12More people looking, the better.
00:33:14Don't worry.
00:33:14I'm just going to take a quick look.
00:33:15If I don't find them, I'll be back in a while to get the others.
00:33:18You wait in the office and stay awake.
00:33:20Yes, sir.

00:39:43Toughодeller How do you have a nap?
00:39:44It happens at least twice a year.
00:39:45Last year it took us about three hours to try down a kid who made a left instead of
00:39:56of a right and wound up in the north fork.
00:39:58That was in broad daylight.
00:40:00He didn't know you was such a warrior.
00:40:02Why the strange look in your eyes?
00:40:04As T.P. was leaving, I saw something by the side of the house.
00:40:08It was big. I couldn't make any features because of the shadows.
00:40:11Okay, Betsy, I get your point. I'll go looking for him.
00:40:14No need to make up any more stories for the dramatic effect.
00:40:18I'm not making up any story.
00:40:19What happened to this shadow?
00:40:21Well, the next time I looked up, it was gone.
00:40:25Okay, I'm leaving. Look, see how fast I'm moving?
00:40:28Dave, don't make fun of me, please.
00:40:30Okay, I'm sorry.
00:40:31Don't worry so much.
00:40:35I'll find him one, two, three.
00:40:40Keep her company till we get back, okay?
00:40:51I saw something out there.
00:40:54I did.
00:40:57At least I think I did.
00:41:01I feel like I'm leaving.

00:46:51I'm going to go find Bill and Ellie and then take a ride to the end of the trail.
00:46:54I think we should both stay here.
00:46:56Well, Betsy, that's the difference between you and me.
00:46:59You're content to sit behind and I'm not.
00:47:01I'd like to know what's going on.
00:47:02I'll see you in a little while.
00:47:03I'll see you in a little while.

00:47:11I'll see you in a little while.
00:47:12I'll see you in a little while.
00:47:17Stacey, don't you ever knock?
00:47:28Sorry.
00:47:28I don't usually bust in like this, but we need you both up in the office.
00:47:32What's the matter?
00:47:33I don't know.
00:47:35Richie's been missing since the campfire and Teepee went to find him and then Dave went
00:47:39to find them and nobody's returned yet.
00:47:41So I figured it would be better if we're all available for duty, so to speak.
00:47:45How long have they been gone?
00:47:46I don't know for sure.
00:47:48Too long as far as I'm concerned.
00:47:50I gotta get back.
00:47:51Sorry again, you two.
00:47:53Don't rush, but hurry, if you know what I mean.

00:51:02I wish Max would get back.
00:51:04He always knows what to do in an emergency.
00:51:07Easy, Ellie. This isn't exactly an emergency.
00:51:09Max would do what we're doing.
00:51:11We got a search for a lost kid.
00:51:13Only TP should have called the whole group together instead of going off on his own.
00:51:16The more people you have searching, the better it is.
00:51:19What are you going to do?
00:51:20I want to catch up with Stacy.
00:51:21What about you?
00:51:22Well, if it's better to have more people looking, then I'll go with you.
00:51:27You okay here alone?
00:51:29Alone? I've got five kids to look after. Who's alone?
00:51:33Only get back as soon as you can, hmm?
00:51:36I don't want Max to find everybody gone.
00:51:37He's funny that way.
