00:00President Trump suggesting that the FBI should look into the Epstein case,
00:04but not necessarily because of Epstein's actions,
00:07but because he says it's a scam pushed by Democrats.
00:11But they ought to look into the Jeffrey Epstein hoax,
00:15because that's another hoax that's frankly put out by the Democrats,
00:18pushing the Republicans and put out by the Democrats.
00:24Just to be specific on timing,
00:26Epstein was investigated and arrested during Trump's first term.
00:30Now, Trump and Epstein, of course, were once friends.
00:32Trump's talked about that in the same circles decades ago.
00:35This photograph goes all the way back to 1997 in Mar-a-Lago,
00:39so it's a long time ago,
00:40and Trump hasn't been accused of any wrongdoing in the Epstein case.
00:43Out front now is Jack O'Donnell,
00:44the former president and chief operating officer of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.
00:49Jack, you know, just as all this conversation comes up,
00:52you know, we've talked to you many times over the years,
00:54you know, you and I,
00:55but you worked with Trump in an important period,
00:581987 to 1990.
01:00And I know that's, you know,
01:02we talk about a lot of these,
01:03this friendship going back that long.
01:07You heard the name Jeffrey Epstein a lot during the time you worked with Trump.
01:12Can you tell us about their friendship?
01:14Oh, sure, Aaron.
01:17You know, I mean, first off, it's laughable that it wasn't a good friendship,
01:22if not his best friend during those days.
01:26I mean, he frequently came down to Atlantic City,
01:28the two of them,
01:30to attend special events.
01:32I heard reference in several conversations,
01:35and in one conversation where, you know,
01:38where I had to specifically talk to him about Epstein and his presence in the casino.
01:43So it was, I mean, it was, in my mind, it was his best friend,
01:49you know, from really the time I was there for four years.
01:53You know, his name was, you know, not constant,
01:55but it came up quite a bit.
01:57And you're saying they would, from what you would call,
02:01come down to the casino together.
02:03I mean, Trump has called Epstein a terrific guy,
02:05a lot of fun to be with.
02:06Now, that was a New York Magazine interview all the way back in 2002,
02:10predating any of these,
02:12any knowledge of Epstein's nefarious actions.
02:15More recently, Trump has downplayed his relationship with Epstein.
02:18Back in 2019, he said this,
02:21and this is right after Jack Epstein was taken into custody.
02:24I knew him like everybody in Palm Beach knew him.
02:28I mean, people in Palm Beach knew him.
02:30He was a fixture in Palm Beach.
02:32I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you.
02:34I was not a fan of his.
02:37That doesn't really fit with what you're saying.
02:40No, no, Aaron, it doesn't.
02:43And, you know, one incident that I think kind of, you know,
02:46proves their closeness and how much they hung out together.
02:50One time on Monday morning, I came in and the commission was waiting.
02:54The inspectors were waiting in my office.
02:56And Donald and Jeffrey had come into the casino
02:59in the wee hours of Sunday morning, 1, 1.30 in the morning.
03:06You know, two buddies.
03:08They had three women with them.
03:10And the commission was waiting for me
03:13because they had determined that the women that they brought down
03:19were underage to be on the casino.
03:22And when I asked them how they knew that, by the way,
03:25one of them was the number three ranked tennis player in the world, okay?
03:29And this guy happened to be a tennis fan.
03:31And he said, Jack, I know she's 19 years old, okay?
03:35So, you know, and to get on a helicopter with a friend
03:41and three other people and fly down to Atlantic City,
03:44I mean, you can connect those dots.
03:47They were pretty good.
03:47At 1.30 in the morning.
03:48And just to be clear, when you say underage for the casino,
03:52underage for the casino would be 21, right?
03:55So not necessarily legally underage girls, right?
03:58Not in that case.
03:59No, not in the sense of a minor, so to speak,
04:05that's been described with Epstein.
04:07They were underage to be in the casino,
04:09and they knew for fact that one of them was 19 years old.
04:15Nobody carded them, by the way,
04:16because either the commission staff or my staff,
04:20because they were intimidated to do so.
04:22And that's why the commission was actually going to fine me
04:25for Donald's discretion.
04:26Now, one of the things that they made me do
04:28is they made me call him.
04:30And I had to, believe it or not,
04:32read him the riot act about this action
04:35because they gave him a break.
04:36Back in those days, and I think even today,
04:39the fines are substantial.
04:41They can even suspend your license
04:43for letting minors in the casino.
04:45And I had to call them and say,
04:47look, they're giving you a break this time.
04:48But if this happens again,
04:50the fine is going to be substantial
04:51and it's going to be on your head.
04:53And oh, by the way, it's not going to look good.
04:55You and this guy Epstein coming down here
04:58with these young women.
04:59What did he say?
05:02Oh, well, he was shocked
05:06that they let him off the hook, first off.
05:08You know, he was flabbergasted.
05:10He said, I can't believe they're letting,
05:11you know, they're not throwing the book at me.
05:12Nobody gives me a break.
05:15And that really was his reaction.
05:17You know, and I did tell him in that conversation,
05:20you know, I don't think you should be hanging out
05:22with this guy, you know, just so you know.
05:24And you certainly shouldn't be doing that
05:26in Atlantic City.
05:28All right.
05:29Jack O'Donnell, thank you very much.
05:31And for all of this and sharing your recollections here,
05:35I appreciate it.
05:36It's always good to talk to you.
05:38So now you hear what Jack had to say.
05:40I want to go to the veteran investigative journalist,
05:42Barry Levine,
05:42who is the former executive editor
05:44of the National Enquirer.
05:45He was in that role for 17 years.
05:46The author of The Spider Inside the Criminal Web
05:50of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,
05:52where he led an exhaustive investigation into Epstein.
05:57So Barry, you know, you hear what Jack had to say.
06:00You know the Jeffrey Epstein case
06:04better than almost anyone.
06:06So when you take a step back
06:07and you look at all this firestorm right now
06:10that is out there,
06:12what key information
06:13is still being withheld from the public?
06:17Well, Aaron, certainly,
06:19I first want to say that
06:20calling this thing a hoax
06:22is such an insult
06:24to Jeffrey Epstein's victims.
06:27As the Justice Department told us,
06:28there's about 1,000 victims
06:30who had been abused.
06:33And for this to be called a hoax
06:36is just horrible.
06:38Say that to the woman
06:39who swam from his island to escape.
06:42Say that to the families
06:43of three of his victims
06:45who have passed on,
06:48one from suicide,
06:50two from accidental overdoses.
06:53So, you know,
06:54I'm absolutely appalled
06:55at how Trump is handling this situation.
06:59But there is still so much
07:01that we can learn
07:02from these files.
07:03And I think that,
07:04as the speaker said,
07:07let's see transparency here
07:08because not only
07:10can we learn more about
07:11men who are in his circle,
07:14who are in his web,
07:16as I wrote in my book,
07:17who were involved in this,
07:19but we can also learn
07:20the financial connections
07:22of how the money
07:23was distributed to him.
07:25I mean, it took millions of dollars
07:27for him to maintain
07:28this operation
07:29over two decades.
07:31And we need to see
07:33exactly how the FBI
07:34treated this,
07:36who they investigated,
07:37what their financial crimes here
07:38of individuals
07:39that need to be looked at.
07:43So just a few moments ago,
07:45Barry, before you and I
07:46were speaking,
07:46just before the show came to air,
07:48the federal prosecutor
07:49for Epstein
07:50and Ghislaine Maxwell,
07:52Maureen Comey.
07:53All right, that's her name.
07:55Does the name sound familiar?
07:55It should because she happens
07:57to be the daughter
07:58of the former FBI
07:59director, James Comey.
08:02Okay, so she was just fired.
08:05All right, she was just fired.
08:08She is James Comey's daughter.
08:10She was the one
08:10looking at this case.
08:12I just take politics out of it
08:14because I know there'll be
08:14politics all over this one, right?
08:16It'll be flies over a carcass.
08:19But you're very familiar
08:20with her work.
08:22What do you make of her firing?
08:23You know, it is another situation
08:29here in this week
08:30of absolutely horrible things
08:32that have come out of Trump
08:34in terms of this firing
08:36that's taken place.
08:37She was such an advocate
08:38for the victims of sexual abuse.
08:41She took part
08:42in the successful prosecution
08:43of Ghislaine Maxwell.
08:45She was on the team
08:46for the Jeffrey Epstein
08:49prosecution in 2019.
08:51Just an excellent part
08:52of that team in New York
08:54and the Southern District.
08:56And for this to go down,
08:57the circumstances,
09:00they're too similar
09:01as to what he said
09:03about her father.
09:04And then you have this result.
09:06So it looks to me
09:07like it is just
09:08she was knocked down
09:11because of her dad.
09:13And it's sad.
09:15Well, it's important.
09:16You know, you've written the book
09:17and done so much on this.
09:18It's important
09:18that you can talk
09:19for the facts
09:20of her performance
09:21and who she was
09:22and what she was doing
09:23and that's what matters.
09:25So, Barry, thanks so much.
09:25I appreciate your time
09:26and you taking the time
09:27to talk to me.
