00:00Bristol City have confirmed the appointment of Tom Rawcliffe as their new CEO,
00:07filling a position that has been vacant since September 2023.
00:11Rawcliffe, who joined the club in 2021 as head of finance,
00:14became finance director in early 2023,
00:17before stepping up as chief operating officer following Phil Alexander's departure.
00:23Now he takes the reins as chief exec, leading the day-to-day running of the club from Ashton Gate.
00:28Owner Steve Lanslow praised the appointment, saying,
00:32Over the past four years, Tom has shown his value to the club and thoroughly deserves his appointment.
00:38Having specialised in finance and operations, he's in a strong position to lead our next stage of development.
00:46The Robins' leadership group, which includes Rawcliffe, John Lanslow, Gavin Marshall,
00:51technical director Brian Tinian and the head coach,
00:54had collectively steered the club during the CEO vacancy.
00:58With Rawcliffe now in place, City have a clear structure in place as they head into a pivotal season.
01:04They've got to build on the squad they had from last season.
01:07They're starting to do that with some moves in the transfer market.
01:08They've also got to build on the playing style.
01:11It obviously remains to be seen as to how much Gerhard Stuber will move away from what Liam Manning created with Bristol City.
01:18But I think, to be honest, supporters will just be happy that they've got someone in who seems to get the club
01:23and seems to be very happy to be there and wants the club to make progress.
01:27He's already spoken about integrating a lot of the academy prospects into the first team
01:31and giving them a real pathway as well.
01:32So that's a positive.
01:33So overall, things looking good for Bristol City.
01:35City's aims remain year on year as progression as the long-awaited top six finish under Liam Manning happened last season.
01:45However, challenges lie ahead with promoted clubs like Birmingham City and Wrexham expected to be competitive.
01:53Rawcliffe's appointment adds further stability as the Lansdowne continue to explore potential new investment
02:00in the club's long-term future.
02:02His financial expertise and deep understanding of the club's structure
02:05make him a logical choice to lead City through this transitional phase, both on and off the pitch.
