00:00The White House is giving an update on the president's health.
00:04After photos circulated online showing President Donald Trump with swelling in his legs, his
00:09administration is now sharing new details on his well-being.
00:14With White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt telling reporters during a briefing
00:19July 17th.
00:21In recent weeks, President Trump noted mild swelling in his lower legs.
00:25In keeping with routine medical care and out of an abundance of caution, this concern
00:30was thoroughly evaluated by the White House Medical Unit.
00:33Going on to reveal that the commander-in-chief has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.
00:40According to the Cleveland Clinic, the non-life-threatening condition causes a person's legs to become
00:46painful, swollen and discolored due to blood pooling in the veins.
00:51The medical condition is common in elderly and often obese individuals.
00:56With Trump's latest physical from April reporting the 79-year-old is overweight, adding an additional
01:02risk factor to the chronic condition.
01:04However, Press Secretary Levitt goes on to share that Trump is taking aspirin to address
01:09the issue and will continue to carry out his presidential duties.
01:15An echocardiogram was also performed and confirmed normal cardiac structure and function.
01:20No signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness were identified.
01:26And the president remains in excellent health, which I think all of you witness on a daily basis
01:31here.
