00:00Europe is up for their left!
00:05Professionals are denouncing the fate reserved for the agricultural sector
00:09in the draft European budget presented by the European Commission.
00:13According to the budgetary framework for the period 2028-2034,
00:19the share of spending on agriculture will fall from 32% at present
00:23to 16.5% in the proposal presented by the European Executive.
00:27For the farmers who gathered outside the Commission building,
00:31these budget cuts are unacceptable.
00:57The proposed structure of the CAP, the Common Agricultural Policy,
01:03is also provoking anger.
01:05This historic European program will be diluted into a larger fund
01:09alongside, among others, cohesion policy.
01:12The cohesion fund and the agricultural fund are two completely different instruments.
01:17The beneficiaries are completely different.
01:19The cohesion fund is stated that regions and more project-based,
01:22well, farming and the Common Agricultural Policy was one of the few policies we had
01:29which was directed at individual farms and individuals with direct income support.
01:35So the structure of these policies were completely different.
01:37So merging them from a technical point of view was actually already quite a weird thing to do
01:43and not a simplification in our eyes.
01:46For the European farmers' lobby, this draft budget is what they call
01:50a complete renationalization of agricultural policy,
01:54masquerading as administrative simplification.
