00:00It's the last weekend until voters decide the fate of 24 Kuomintang lawmakers in a critical
00:06RICO vote on July 26. Campaigners are ready to hit the streets of Taipei over the weekend
00:11in the last thrust to sway people's votes. Police say roads around the legislature in
00:16Taipei will be restricted on Saturday for at least 24 hours for a pro-RICO rally.
00:22Pro-RICO groups have also gone on social media, calling on locally registered voters living in
00:26other parts of the country to come home to vote yes, while the KMT has been touring major cities
00:32to urge people to vote no. Meanwhile, a number of controversies around the legality of campaign
00:38activities are fueling partisan tension. In Taoyuan in northern Taiwan, photos are circulating
00:43online of campaign flyers being sent along with election notices, which would be a legal
00:49violation. The local election commission says it's looking into the matter, but the ruling
00:53Democratic Progressive Party has been quick to accuse the KMT of misconduct.
00:58According to the decision-making law, we can't假代 the ballot. If it's假, we may
01:04be prosecuted in three years. This is a new rule. But until now, this is a big deal.
01:11Have you seen the leaders of the Taipei government and the leaders of the Taipei government
01:16who are the leaders of the KMT, who are the leaders of the KMT, who are the leaders of
01:23the KMT. The subject of the controversy, KMT legislator Lu Mingzhe has rejected the claims
01:28and accused the DPP of staging the photos, with camera footage of what he claims as evidence.
01:34The potential interference may come from outside. On Thursday, the Mainland Affairs Council,
01:39which governs relations with China, says posts about Taiwan's RICO movement have gained traction
01:44on Chinese social media.
01:46Who should be prosecuted? Who should not be prosecuted?
01:49There are all the Taiwanese people who have decided to decide.
01:52That's why we don't want to threaten Taiwan.
01:56With just days to go before the critical vote, pro and anti-RICO campaigners are keeping their
02:01feet on the gas to win as much support as they can, awaiting the judgment of the people.
