07:36I'm sorry.
07:37I'm sorry.
07:38I know what to do.
07:40I'm sorry.
07:42I'm sorry.
07:43I'm sorry.
07:44I'm sorry.
07:46I'm sorry.
08:03Hello, how are you? I'm Jerónimo from Colombia and the truth, I grew up listening to Black Sabbath, Ozzy as a reference.
08:21I tattooed my fingers because when I was very little I saw Ozzy and it made me a lot of fun to pare myself or do things like him.
08:36So I would like to be part of this last event of the Maestro of Maestros and the Dios of Metal.
08:51If you had a tattoo you were a certain type of person and it was a statement, you know, which was I think the same as what Black Sabbath were doing.
09:05You know, making a point of not fitting in and not being normal and not being safe, which is always exciting for me.
09:13Tattooing is so mainstream now that it's kind of hard to see what it was, but for a long time if you had a tattoo you were like, oh, I'm not sure if I should trust this guy.
09:27And I think that was kind of, not the point, but it was, you know, if I'm going to get a tattoo, it's to be outside.
09:35And I think with tattooing, you know, maybe not so much these days, but obviously tattoos were supposed to be something that kind of stood out and were shocking and anti-establishment.
09:45So I think the two just kind of went hand in hand. If you are going to get a tattoo, you get something that's kind of spits in the face of the norm. And obviously that was what Black Sabbath were about.
09:55Birmingham's a really working class place and it always will be. People are very real. People don't take themselves too seriously. And I think sometimes people always trying to chase us being like a Leeds or a Manchester or a London, but that's, that's not who we are.
10:15They're a very real band, a very working class band. And even when you see like Ozzy talking on TV and stuff, he's still very much that doesn't take himself too seriously. Good sense of humour. Like hasn't really changed.
10:34I think Birmingham can get a bad rap. I don't think people have like other cities. I don't think they see it as the second city.
10:43And I think when you're from Birmingham, like you're proud of things that are from Birmingham and like, like we gave people metal. Look what we did. It's kind of like, I suppose, like stealing a bit of glory.
10:58Hi, I just want to say congratulations to Black Sabbath as they get back to the beginning on July 5th. I hope everything is well and God bless you.
11:14This is Daniel. I am from Costa Rica. I just want to say thank you guys for everything. Your music inspired me to travel from Costa Rica to England some years ago. Also having a meet and greet with Ozzy himself was a life changing experience for me. So thank you so much. We love you.
11:31Thank you. Thank you for making history in the music. Thank you so much.
11:36Hey, what's up? This is Dave from Tucson, Arizona. I just want to say thank you to Ozzy and the rest of Black Sabbath. And I also want to give a big shout out and thanks to my mom because she got me into you guys and your music. And I just want to say thank you and have fun.
11:50Saluti dall'Italia.
11:54Thank you, Black Sabbath, for bringing me up on rock. Birmingham forever. Legends were born.
12:04This is Dingo, Two Socks, Silk here, McDingleberry and Black Sabbath is absolutely one of his favorite bands. My name is Glenel. These are my little friends behind me. I'm from Canada and everybody all around the world. Big cheer for Black Sabbath. Oh, my God. It's a lifetime of memories.
12:19Time of memories. Damn, we're going to miss you guys.
12:22Ivan Mitchell from Monterrey, Mexico. Thank you for giving us a passion, a reason to live. And don't forget to go fucking crazy.
12:31Thank you for being on the spirit of creatures of this ineffable thing called Merle. Thank you for coming to Colombia in 2015. Thank you for exploring.
12:49Absolutely everything. Yes, you are metal man. You've changed the life since you began.
12:54Sabbath have never been in fashion. They've never been out of fashion either. And so fans are there for life. Once you're a fan, you're always a fan.
13:03Digbeth was really like the Wild West in the early days, like anything could happen. There were these empty warehouse spaces and we really lent into this sort of post-industrial area of Birmingham.
13:18Behind doors of these spaces, you'll find artists and musicians. It's a real nod to sort of the counterculture scene that's happening in Birmingham.
13:25There are young musicians that are plugging in their guitars, turning up the volume and making heavy metal music and that comes from Black Sabbath, who 15 years old,
13:44There are young musicians that are plugging in their guitars, turning up the volume and
13:49making heavy metal music and that comes from Black Sabbath who, 15 years on, came from
13:56Birmingham.
13:57They came from this place and that is their legacy, that this music is as vibrant as it
14:01was when they started out over 50 years ago.
14:04I think people often assume that Sabbath fans are like men in their 60s.
14:09It's such a diverse fan base, it's a global fan base.
14:12I don't think we can stereotype who a Sabbath fan is.
14:15Their influence on fashion and that aesthetic is about being yourself and doing it on your
14:20own terms and really pushing against the mainstream.
14:26Black Sabbath leant into that darker side and they were really uncompromising in both their
14:31sound and their look and that has influenced counterculture, whether that's from grunge
14:35to punk to heavy metal.
14:38And I think they've done things in their own way.
14:40And I think that it's not so much about the look as it's a way of being.
14:45For me, heaviness isn't just about amplification.
14:48It can be about lyrics, it can be about a way of being, it's the world that we're existing
14:52in.
14:53And I think that continues to drive creativity and Sabbath were the first ones to do that.
15:00It can be about a way of being, it can be about a way of being, it can be about a way of being.
15:15Give it up for Lamb of God, that was amazing.
15:22Growing up, heavy metal was a safe haven for others like me, just like you.
15:29It was a coping mechanism for the rebels, the renegades, the disfranchised, all of us, the
15:35defiant ones.
15:38This music inspired us to challenge the system, to be activists of change, and it connected
15:43us and allowed us to find our own kind of peace in a world of chaos.
15:48I look out here today and I see that this is still our safe haven and we are still here.
15:55The music of Black Sabbath has influenced and inspired musicians of many different genres
16:00who feel the same way.
16:02And we are fortunate to have an incredible cast of insanely talented musicians gathering
16:08to pay tribute to Ozzy and Black Sabbath.
16:11Some of them were inspired by the music of Ozzy Osbourne and some of them are here to, who
16:16helped create the music of Ozzy Osbourne.
16:19So please, I want to introduce and welcome Lizzy Hale, Nuno Betancourt from Xtreme, David Ellipson
16:27from Megadeth, drummer for Ozzy for 15 years, Mike Borden from Faith No More, and long-time
16:36Ozzy keyboardist Adam Wakeman, and Mr. Jake E. Lee.
16:48Here we go!
16:49Here we go!
16:50Here we go!
16:55Here we go!
17:13Anybody seen Jakey Lee?
17:17Anybody seen Jakey Lee?
17:26Now that's how a fucking rock star rolls in right there.
