00:00They're the ones who cannot keep up with the fast and frenetic pace of a society and working world in perpetual flux and movement.

00:07They can only hope to be granted relief, recognition, and compassion from time to time for their physical challenge state.

00:13Hence, a week-long fare exemption on the megacity's railway lines has been ordered for them by a leader who cares, as our Bernard Ferrer reports.

00:21Serio was among the first to receive a free ride on MRT3 for persons with disability or PWADs in celebration of National Disability Rights Week.

00:33For Serio, it means a lot that the government recognizes and gives attention to the welfare of PWADs in the country.

00:40The money is safe and fair, he said, would now be allocated for his food expenses.

00:44The free ride program began from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will run until July 23rd.

01:04This initiative is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcus, Jr.,

01:08which aims to ease transportation expenses and give importance to significant national observances.

01:13To avail of the free ride, PWADs simply need to present their valid ID at the station's service gate.

01:20Meanwhile, PWADs and Syrian citizens traveling outside the designated R's can still enjoy a 50% fare discount.

01:28In addition to MRT3, LRT2 is also offering free rides for PWADs,

01:33while LRT1 is providing a 50% fare discount as part of its participation in the National Disability Rights Week celebration.

01:41A sensitivity training was also conducted under the leadership of the Department of Transportation,

01:47Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation, or DOTR SAIC,

01:51in partnership with a well-known mole chain in the country.

01:55The training aims to deepen the understanding and awareness of transportation personnel

01:59regarding the rides to PWADs and to ensure compassionate, fair, and safe treatment in public transportation.

02:06The event was attended by DOTR SAIC staff, drivers and conductors of the ETSA busway,

02:12and various representatives from the transport sector.

02:27And yung mga disabilities, kuminsan yan ay hindi natin nakikita.

02:31Pero nagdudulot ng kung ano ng mga sitwasyon.

02:35The sensitivity training was prompted by a recent incident involving a PWAD

02:39who was beaten and teased inside a bus on the ETSA busway last June.
