00:00And I see your Schwartz is as big as mine.
00:04Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best and funniest spoof
00:08scenes in movies, no matter how big or small the reference is.
00:11You're behind the couch.
00:15What?
00:16How do you know that?
00:17I can see your feet.
00:20Number 20.
00:21The Snozzberries from Willy Wonka.
00:23Super Troopers.
00:24Vermont state troopers pull over a car where the occupants are using narcotics.
00:28They tried to ditch the drugs by ingesting a ton and throwing some out the window, but
00:32it didn't work.
00:33Are you okay?
00:34Yeah, sure.
00:35Yes, sir.
00:36Yes, sir.
00:37Now, did you say yes, sir?
00:38I think he said yeah, sure.
00:40The troopers, Thorny and Rabbit, enjoy messing with the guys before they place them in the
00:44back of a patrol car.
00:45A bit later, after a high-speed chase, one of the guys is seen licking the divider window
00:49of the car and says that the Snozzberries taste like Snozzberries.
00:52In Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, one of the products produced by Wonka is lickable
00:57wallpaper, where if you like certain fruits, it'll taste like said fruits, and included
01:01is the Snozzberry.
01:02Try some more.
01:03The strawberries taste like strawberries.
01:05The Snozzberries taste like Snozzberries.
01:08Number 19.
01:09T-1000 from Terminator 2 Judgment Day.
01:12Wayne's World.
01:13Wayne's World is filled with tons of classic bits, but perhaps one of the most surprising
01:17is the appearance of the T-1000.
01:19Hey, do you know this guy?
01:22Nah, I don't know.
01:23When Wayne races over to where Cassandra is shooting a music video, he's pulled over by
01:27a police officer on a motorcycle.
01:29There's a slow build-up as the cop walks up to the Garth Mobile, takes off his helmet,
01:33and holds up a picture asking Wayne if he's seen the boy.
01:36Yes, officer.
01:37Is there something wrong?
01:39Have you seen this boy?
01:40Of course, it's Robert Patrick reprising his role from Terminator 2 Judgment Day.
01:46Understandably, Wayne takes off screaming.
01:48We would too.
01:49Number 18.
01:51The Notepad from North by Northwest.
01:53The Big Lebowski.
01:54The dude gets caught up in an elaborate extortion plot when he's mistaken as Jeffrey Lebowski,
01:59given that he and the other Lebowski share the same name.
02:02This brings the dude into contact with Jackie Treehorn, a big-time producer of erotica.
02:07How's the smut business, Jackie?
02:08I wouldn't know, dude.
02:11I deal in publishing, entertainment, political advocacy.
02:17Which one's logjamming?
02:18Yes, regrettably, it's true.
02:20Standards have fallen in adult entertainment.
02:22He meets Treehorn at his home, where they're trying to work out a solution to their problem.
02:27Suddenly, Treehorn gets a call and writes something down on a notepad.
02:30He momentarily leaves the room, and the dude cleverly shades the notepad Treehorn used only
02:35to find he drew a dirty sketch.
02:36Excuse me.
02:38This is a spoof on North by Northwest, where the same technique is used, but it yields useful information.
02:50Number 17.
02:51Dawn of Man from 2001, A Space Odyssey.
02:53Zoolander.
02:54The fashion industry has been behind many political assassinations over the years,
02:58and the Malaysian prime minister is the next target.
03:01Almost five.
03:02What?
03:02Hey, guys, that show is in three hours.
03:06Derek is dead unless we get that evidence.
03:08Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald break into the office of Zoolander's agent to recover
03:12incriminating computer files.
03:14However, the duo aren't exactly the brightest, and don't actually know how to operate or even
03:18turn on the computer.
03:19Puzzled, they resort to slapping and hitting the machine while making ape vocalizations.
03:23This is very similar to how the apes in 2001, A Space Odyssey react once the monolith appears.
03:35Hansel is even about to use a bone to strike the computer, but he's stopped by Derek.
03:39Number 16.
03:40Kevin Costner from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.
03:43Robin Hood, Men in Tights.
03:44After being captured during the Crusades, Robin of Loxley returns to England to find that
03:49his home has been repossessed, and that King John, along with the Sheriff of Rottingham,
03:53have been unfairly treating the citizens of the land.
03:55I shall tell all that I see, that there is one man in England who is not afraid to stand
04:00up to Rottingham and his men.
04:01Good.
04:02Tell them that.
04:03And tell them also that I vow to put an end to the injustice.
04:06Robin decides to confront the king at a lavish banquet.
04:08He openly accuses John of being an usurper, and demands that he stops levying new taxes,
04:13where he will lead the people of England in a rebellion.
04:16When John asks why people should listen to him, Robin replies that he can actually speak
04:20with an English accent.
04:21And why should the people listen to you?
04:24Because, unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent.
04:30This is a direct reference to Kevin Costner's performance in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves,
04:34where he doesn't exactly sound like an English native.
04:37Number 15.
04:38The post-credits scene from Ferris Bueller.
04:40Deadpool.
04:40Deadpool is known for breaking the fourth wall and addressing the audience, so it should
04:45be no surprise that he pays tribute to Ferris Bueller, another character who frequently looks
04:49into the camera.
04:50A, you can never go too far.
04:52B, if I'm going to get busted, it is not going to be by a guy like that.
04:55Of course, post-credits scenes are fairly common, especially for superhero movies.
05:00And at the end of Deadpool, we're treated to Mr. Pool in a bathrobe, telling us to go home,
05:04because there's not going to be a teaser for Deadpool 2.
05:06Oh, you're expecting a teaser for Deadpool 2.
05:09Well, we don't have that kind of money.
05:11This takes a page from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, where post-credits, Ferris berates the
05:15audience for sticking around after the film is over.
05:17It's a nice touch.
05:18Number 14.
05:19You Like Apples from Good Will Hunting.
05:21Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
05:23In order to stop a movie being made about their comic book alter egos, Jay and Silent
05:27Bob travel to Hollywood.
05:29Come on, Silent Bob.
05:30We're going to Hollywood.
05:33When they finally arrive in Tinseltown, they sneak into Miramax's studio lot, and we get
05:38to take a look at some of the other projects going on.
05:40Jay and Silent Bob find themselves on the set of Good Will Hunting 2, Hunting Season.
05:44They revisit the bar scene from Good Will Hunting, where Will faces off against Clark.
05:49Everything about this scene is over the top, from director Gus Van Zandt counting money
05:52in the corner, to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's performance as fictionalized versions of themselves.
05:57I don't like the sound of them apples, Will.
05:59What are we going to do?
06:01Jackie?
06:02Yeah?
06:04It's hunting season.
06:11Applesauce, bitch.
06:12Number 13.
06:13Warehouse Dance from Footloose.
06:15Hot Rod
06:16Looking to make a name for himself and earn the respect of his stepfather, Frank, Rod Kimball
06:20returns home one day to find out that Frank needs a heart transplant or he'll die.
06:24All I want is to earn your respect, Frank.
06:26How can I do that if you won't fight me?
06:28Well, maybe you should have thought of that before you sucked at being a man all your life.
06:32Oh my god, I hate you so much.
06:34I just want to smash your face in.
06:37Looking to vent his frustrations, Rod goes to his quiet place, which is in the middle of
06:40the forest.
06:41Here, he dances out his pent-up anger in a similar fashion to Kevin Bacon's Wren McCormick
06:46and Footloose.
06:47Rod's dancing may not be as smooth as Wren's, but the whole scenario is quite humorous, especially
06:51when it abruptly ends rolling down a hill for what seems like an eternity.
06:54Hot wings, you shit!
07:01Number 12.
07:03Feeling Lucky from Dirty Harry.
07:05The Mask.
07:05Stanley Ipkiss's life changes when he comes across a mysterious mask.
07:09He goes from a down-on-his-luck pushover to a wild, charismatic, and confident individual.
07:13It's party time!
07:22P-A-R-T.
07:23Why?
07:24Because I gotta!
07:26Towards the end of the movie, in order to rescue the girl and save the day, as the mask,
07:30he confronts Dorian Tyrell's henchmen.
07:32He pulls out a huge arsenal of weaponry and asks them if they feel lucky.
07:36This is, of course, a reference to Dirty Harry, complete with Jim Carrey's spot-on impression
07:40of Clint Eastwood.
07:41Now you have to ask yourself one question.
07:43Do I feel lucky?
07:47Well...
07:48Do ya?
07:52Punks?
07:54Much like Harry Callahan, the masked weapons are empty, but that's revealed after the henchmen
07:58run away.
07:59Number 11.
08:00Makeover from She's All That.
08:02Not Another Teen Movie.
08:04Although it parodies several teen rom-coms, perhaps one of the funniest moments from Not Another
08:08Teen Movie is when Janie Biggs receives a makeover.
08:11That's it.
08:13I've got it.
08:15What?
08:16It might seem crazy, but you're just gonna have to trust me.
08:19The moment is lifted from She's All That, where Laney Boggs is given a makeover by Zack
08:23Siler's sister before going out to party.
08:26The previously nerdy Boggs is revealed to be drop-dead gorgeous.
08:29When Janie gets her makeover by simply having her glasses removed and her hair let down,
08:33it highlights the fact that the supposed unattractive nerdy characters are played by attractive
08:38actresses.
08:39That's it.
08:39The scene is capped off by Janie falling through the stairs when she reveals her new look.
08:47Number 10.
08:48Disco Dancing from Saturday Night Fever.
08:50Airplane.
08:51Sure, it may be about nothing more than a group of quirky airport employees, but Airplane
08:55is one of the greatest and most quotable satirical comedies ever.
08:59Listen to you.
09:00I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA.
09:03I'm out there busting my buns every night.
09:07Tell your old man to drag Walton in the near up and down the court for 48 minutes.
09:10Even though it mostly parodies the disaster film genre overall, the best spoof in Airplane
09:15is its pretty much shot-for-shot remake of a famous moment in Saturday Night Fever.
09:19In the scene, the main protagonist, Ted Stryker, is telling the story of how he met his
09:24one true love, Elaine, and it involves a bar, the Bee Gees, and a rather silly version of
09:28a disco dance number originally performed by John Travolta.
09:31From the choreography to the famous zingers, Airplane's level of comedy stays sky-high
09:36throughout, and especially in this scene.
09:38I was captivated, entranced.
09:40It hit me like a thunderbolt.
09:42I had to ask the guy next to me to pinch me to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
09:45Number 9.
09:46Staircase Shootout from The Untouchables and Battleship Potemkin.
09:49Naked Gun 33 and a Third, The Final Insult.
09:52It may be the lowest-grossing naked gun film, but 33 and a Third still brings the spoofs.
10:02In fact, the film's opening is a parody of a parody.
10:05It recreates a famous scene from 1987's The Untouchables, which in turn recreated the famous
10:10Odessa Steps sequence from 1925's Battleship Potemkin.
10:13Frank Trebin is waiting for, uh, something when he decides to help a woman with a baby carriage
10:18up the many, many stairs, much like Kevin Costner.
10:21But once the mobsters show up, Trebin starts a wild shootout that involves multiple falling strollers.
10:26President Clinton, the Pope, mass-murdering mailmen, and awkwardly, O.J. Simpson, just before the infamous murder.
10:33Hey, look! It's the President!
10:37And the Pope!
10:38As if that weren't funny enough, it's all a dream!
10:43Number 8. T-Rex Reveal from Jurassic Park.
10:46Wayne's World 2.
10:47Whether he's crashing weddings like Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, or pulling off the Thelma
10:51and Louise ending, Mike Myers is clearly a movie buff.
10:55Let's just keep going, Wayne!
10:58Okay, Garth!
10:59But for our money, the best spoof scene in Wayne's World 2 is his parody of Jurassic Park,
11:05which was released a mere six months before this sequel.
11:07Wayne and Garth are trying to plan a music festival called Waynestock,
11:10and they're scouting the location on a rainy day.
11:12But all of a sudden, they encounter a T-Rex,
11:15paying homage to an iconic shot in the Steven Spielberg film.
11:18Listen.
11:19What?
11:20How did Wayne and Garth end up in Jurassic Park, you may be asking?
11:31We're not worthy of the answer.
11:33Number 7. Always Been Here from The Shining.
11:35Hot Fuzz.
11:36Like many movies on this list,
11:38this badass British police comedy is a satire of an entire genre's worth of films,
11:42but the scene we've selected parodies something entirely different.
11:45Check in.
11:47But you've always been here.
11:49Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are two police officers
11:51trying to solve a mystery in a quaint little village.
11:54When Pegg's character, Nicholas Angel, is checking into his hotel,
11:57he's met with a line of dialogue eerily reminiscent of The Shining.
12:00However, whereas Jack Torrance's hotel chat is with a ghost,
12:03Sergeant Angel is just trying to get to his room.
12:06Fortunately, the hotel Angel checks into isn't haunted,
12:08and the conversation is followed by a slew of hilarious misunderstandings
12:11involving a crossword puzzle.
12:13I'm Joyce Cooper. I trust you had a pleasant trip.
12:15Fascist.
12:16I beg your pardon?
12:17System of government characterized by extreme dictatorship.
12:22Seven across.
12:23Number 6. Headspin from The Exorcist.
12:26Toy Story.
12:27Like any animated feature worth its salt,
12:29Pixar's breakout movie about the secret life of toys
12:32threw in enough jokes for the adults
12:33to keep parents entertained alongside their kids.
12:36In an effort to teach budding psychopath Sid a lesson and save his buddy Buzz,
12:49Woody enlists the help of Sid's other victims
12:52to scare the bejesus out of the toy torturer.
12:54During the ambush, our favorite cowboy doll takes a page out of The Exorcist's book,
12:59spinning his head around a full 360 much like the possessed Reagan McNeil does in front of two shaken priests.
13:04It may be a little heavy for a kids' movie, but nonetheless, the reference fits perfectly.
13:08We toys can see everything.
13:15So play nice.
13:18That'll see Sid to play nicer with toys.
13:20Number 5.
13:21Chessburster from Alien.
13:22Spaceballs.
13:23Following a Han Solo-like character and his half-man, half-dog sidekick
13:27as they travel the galaxy to defeat the evil Lord Dark Helmet and save a princess,
13:31this Mel Brooks space spoof tackles Star Wars,
13:34parroting everything from Imperial cruisers to near declarations of paternity.
13:38I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.
13:46What's that make us?
13:49Absolutely nothing.
13:50But it's got a dead-on alien spoof we just can't forget.
13:53In their travels, Captain Lone Star and Barf stop at a diner,
13:57where John Hurt also happens to be eating.
13:59What follows is a scene we swear we've seen somewhere before.
14:02Making this otherwise disgusting alien parody even funnier
14:05is the fact that the Chessburster then performs a charming musical number,
14:08a la Michigan J. Frog.
14:14Say what you will, but that's adorable.
14:17Number 4.
14:18Fatherly Reveal from The Empire Strikes Back.
14:20Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me.
14:22One of the most hilarious spoof scenes in this satire of James Bond
14:26is actually another parody of Star Wars.
14:28Austin and Dr. Evil have finally caught up with each other on the villain's moon base
14:32when the good doctor makes a stunning reveal.
14:34I am your father.
14:47However, unlike The Empire Strikes Back,
14:49Dr. Evil is of course not Austin's father
14:51and admits how ridiculous his claim is.
14:53Hey, at least he was honest, right?
14:55What ups the funny factor of this scene even more
14:57is how out of nowhere it is.
14:58No, not really.
15:00I can't back that up.
15:02Right.
15:03Idiot.
15:04Yes.
15:05And lucky for Austin Powers fans,
15:06this spoof scene is one of many.
15:08Number 3.
15:09Bulletproof Vest Trick from A Fistful of Dollars.
15:12Back to the Future Part 3.
15:14The third installment of the B.T.T.F. franchise
15:16follows Marty McFly and Doc Brown to 1885
15:19where they can reference as many movies as they want
15:21and no one will know what they're talking about.
15:23You talking to me?
15:28You talking to me, Tannen?
15:34Well, I'm the only one here.
15:36In fact, while in the Old West,
15:37Marty goes by the name of Clint Eastwood
15:39and that piece of foreshadowing comes into play
15:41near the end of the film.
15:42Marty, or Clint,
15:44has agreed to face Mad Dog Tannen in a gunfight
15:46but, being from 1985,
15:48he has a century's worth of wisdom
15:49to help him out at the showdown.
15:51I thought we could settle this like men!
15:56You thought wrong, dude.
16:00Marty taps into his film knowledge,
16:02copying the real Clint Eastwood's move
16:04in A Fistful of Dollars
16:05by taking a boilerplate
16:06and using it as a makeshift bulletproof vest.
16:09Bad. Ass.
16:11Number 2.
16:11Garage Door Death from Scream.
16:13Scary Movie.
16:14If you remember the 90s,
16:16you know that teen horror flicks
16:17made a big comeback during that decade
16:19and with them,
16:20they brought the inevitable spoofs.
16:22Hello?
16:24Who's there?
16:28Oh my god.
16:29Oh my god.
16:30Please don't.
16:31Please.
16:32I'm just a day player.
16:33Scary Movie takes aim
16:35at many popular horror films
16:36but the scene we've chosen
16:37mocks an iconic death
16:38from 1996's Scream.
16:40A young party-goer
16:41is trapped in the garage by Ghostface
16:43but where things diverge
16:44from the source material
16:45is when the girl tries to escape
16:46through the kitty flap
16:47in the garage door.
16:48This girl doesn't get her head crushed
16:50by the opening garage.
16:51No.
16:51Due to her weight,
16:52she causes everything
16:53to collapse on top of her.
16:54Seeing Ghostface's reaction
16:56to the incident
16:56makes this moment comedic gold.

17:17Number 1.
17:18Defoe Death from Platoon
17:20Tropic Thunder
17:21Since this Ben Stiller joint
17:22is a satire
17:23of the film industry as a whole,
17:25it's littered
17:25with hysterical references
17:26to past films and actors.
17:28Who left the fridge open?
17:31But one of the most memorable
17:32spoof scenes
17:32comes at the beginning
17:33of the movie
17:34where the actors are filming
17:35an intense and expensive
17:36action sequence
17:37for their fictional film,
17:39also called
17:39Drop of Thunder.
17:40Stiller's character,
17:41Tug Speedman,
17:42is running out of the jungle,
17:43hands to the sky,
17:44as he's shot multiple times.
17:49This moment was,
17:50of course,
17:51originally made famous
17:52by Willem Dafoe
17:53in Oliver Stone's Platoon,
17:54and Stiller and co
17:55do it comedic justice.
17:56The scene is so overly dramatic,
17:58it's perfect,
17:59and it makes us cry
17:59tears of laughter every time.

18:03Let us know in the comments.
18:04Funny, isn't it?

18:07is a professional dancer.
