Celebrating over 300,000 wishlists additions on Steam, Nordic Trolls, the developer behind Under a Rock, is back once again to give players a very special first glance at the dynamic combat system of the game as they continue to charge ahead towards the next milestones in development. In addition to the new trailer, extended b-roll footage is also available, allowing fans to check out some uninterrupted gameplay and really get a feel for the game.
In this untamed world, survival means facing down prehistoric threats with nothing but primitive weapons and quick reflexes. The latest gameplay footage reveals intense encounters with Neanderthals, a brutish new enemy group that vigorously protects their territory. Players must master skill-based dodging and well timed shield blocks to survive their attacks, retaliating with an arsenal of handcrafted clubs, spears, axes and bows.
Combat in Under a Rock is primal and dynamic, demanding good timing and tactical thinking. The fluid enemy animations and unique attack patterns that ensure each encounter feels distinct and dangerous. Every swing, dodge, and block feels weighty and impactful, creating a combat system where reflexes and weapon mastery determine who survives.
Set in a procedurally generated open world shaped by an alternate evolutionary timeline, Under a Rock blends action, exploration, base building, creature taming, and survival into a colorful, unpredictable sandbox. Whether exploring solo or teaming up in groups of up to 10 players, adventurers must navigate a world that’s as whimsical as it is wild.
