A potential tropical storm is brewing in the Gulf, and Florida and Texas are right in its path. The National Hurricane Center is tracking Invest 93L — a system that could strengthen into Tropical Storm Dexter later this week. Even if it doesn’t form fully, it’s already bringing heavy rain, flash flooding risks, and widespread storms across the Southeast. Here’s everything you need to know to stay prepared.

00:00Heads up, Florida and Texas, the tropics are heating up.
00:03A growing system off Florida's east coast has caught the eye of the National Hurricane Center.
00:08It's disorganized now, but by the time it crosses Florida and hits the Gulf, things could get serious.
00:14They're calling it Invest 93L, and it's already soaking parts of central Florida with up to 4 inches of rain.
00:21By Wednesday, it'll slide into the northeastern Gulf, where conditions are more favorable for development.
00:26And yes, that means it could turn into a tropical depression or even the season's next name storm, Dexter.
00:33The NHC now gives it a 40% chance of developing over the next few days.
00:38But here's the twist. Even if it doesn't become a storm, it's still going to drench the region.
00:44From Florida's panhandle to the Texas coastline, flash flooding could be a real threat by mid to late week.
00:50So while it's still uncertain what this system becomes, what's clear is that heavy rain is coming.
00:54Stay weather aware, because the Gulf might just be waking up.
