00:00The Bevan Commission welcomes the ambition set out by the Cabinet Secretary.
00:04The focus on prevention, shifting care closer to home and harnessing digital innovation
00:09strongly reflects the principles of food and health care and the direction established in a healthier Wales
00:16which the Commission has both informed and long championed.
00:20The commitment to becoming a marmot nation is a really great opportunity for us to work together
00:25to address those long-standing inequalities also identified some time back in the Inverse Care Law.
00:32Strengthening regional collaboration is also important to ensure we use all those skills and resources to best affect Wales.
00:41These are critical shifts that will help create more sustainable and equitable health, well-being and care for people in Wales in the future.
00:50However, the fundamental challenge in all of this will be in delivering the agenda
00:56while simultaneously tackling immense immediate pressures alongside the bold long-term transformational change
01:04we need to be fit for the future.
01:07The plan rightly demands rapid improvements in waiting times and urgent care.
01:12The true transformation, the kind that moves the system from treatment to prevention
01:17and engages and engages and supports people and communities in their own well-being
01:21requires dedicated capacity, investment and space to innovate.
01:28For this vision to become a reality, we need everyone to share responsibility
01:32people, professionals, NHS leaders
01:35and staff must be supported to help them balance these competing demands and expectations.
01:40The urgent short-term targets must not inadvertently stifle the long-term transformation
01:48that will be essential to secure the health of future generations
01:52consistent with the Future Generations Act.
01:57We look forward to continuing to share our thinking on this
02:00and working with all partners to ensure we help navigate this difficult path
02:04sharing ideas, skills, insights and resources to achieve healthier people
02:11in thriving communities across Wales.
