00:00Like the country's farmers and fisher folk who help put food on the Filipino meal table,

00:05there is a soft spot in the President's heart for the homeland's vulnerable sector,

00:09in particular the elderly and the physically challenged.

00:12To provide them even greater relief in meeting the high costs of survival,

00:16a 50% slash on train fares and all railway lines have been ordered

00:21as we hear more from our Kenneth Paciente.

00:23Liza usually takes the MRT3 to get to work, traveling from Guadalupe Station to Santolan and back.

00:31Although there is already a 20% discount, she still struggles with the fare because according to her,

00:37her earnings as a golf course worker isn't that high.

00:40Kasi kagaya ng ganyan, minsan pag umuulan, walang income, no worth, no peace.

00:44To further ease the burden of commuters, especially senior citizens and persons with disability,

00:49President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. himself led the launching of a 50% fare discount for the said sectors.

00:55This covers all train lines including LRT1, LRT2, and MRT3.

01:00Ang makikinabang dito sa programang ito ay siguro mga 13 milyong senior citizen at saka 7 milyon na PWD.

01:10Kaya alam naman natin, yan ang mga grupong yan, mga estudyante, ang PWD, mga senior citizens,

01:21ay talaga naman kailangan ng tulong natin dahil very limited ang kanilang income.

01:29Kaya tinaisip namin, ito ay maaari natin gawin upang tulungan ang mga ating mga commuter na PWD

01:38at yung mga senior citizen na nandito kasama natin ngayong kumaga.

01:46Beneficiaries expressed joy over the discount, saying it will help them save a lot.

01:50Maganda po, kasi kagaya sa akin, hindi naman permamentinin ang sika po, malaking bagay po sa akin yan.

01:58Kaling mahirap, makasipid lang kami, kahit siyo, kahit ibang makano, malaking tulungan.

02:05Just this June, a 50% discount was also given to students across all railway transit lines.

02:11And to make daily commuting even more convenient, the President announced that after 10 years,

02:173 out of the 48 Dalian trains purchased by the government in 2014 are now in use.

02:22Kaya itong train na nakikita natin sa harap natin ito, na ayos na ito, pwede nang gamitin.

02:29Kaya mula ngayon, magagamit tayo, meron na tayong magamit na karagdagang,

02:36we will use 3 trains, 3 cars.

02:40So makakapagbuo na tayo ngayon pa lang, 3 trains na tatlong karuahe.

02:46So 9 nitong cars na ito, dun sa 48, tuloy-tuloy natin na titignan at gagawa ng paraan para naman magamit.

02:57He also emphasized that repairs will continue for the remaining Dalian trains to better serve thousands of passengers.
