Nancy Tengler, CEO & CIO At Laffer Tengler Investments, explains why volatility is actually your friend.
Transcript
00:00What would you say the best strategy is, though, to deal with some of the volatility that we could continue to see in order to keep your money safe?
00:08Is it kind of sitting tight? Is it buying on the dips? Is it dollar cost averaging? What's your advice?
00:15Yeah, I think it's all of the above, Caroline. So we're long term investors. Our time horizon is three to five years. We're not traders.
00:22So we have a saying in the firm that volatility is your friend. And during that period, we were adding to names.
00:27I mentioned some of them. We also added to Tesla. And many of those names are up 15 to 30 percent just since April.
00:36So you want to take advantage. You want to buy companies you can own for a lifetime so that when you are faced with volatility, you have the confidence to step in the management team.
00:47Amazon's another one we added to Andy Jassy is one of the best operators, I think, in technology.
00:52And so you want to be able to add to those names and not get let, as the great Peter Lynch said, don't let the market scare you out of stocks.
