00:45you're met with a barrage of in-depth challenges. From word games to target practice, there are
00:51tasks here for everyone to thrive at and enjoy. But don't get too cocky. With a success rate of
00:57just 1.5%, it's one of the most difficult in the entire industry.

01:04Number 19. Death Row, Baton Rouge, United States. Talk about some serious stakes. With only one hour
01:12to flee before you're sent to the electric chair, 13th Gate Escape's Death Row is one of the most
01:18intense games out there. Group members start in individual cells, which they have to free
01:23themselves from before making their way out of the prison. Once that's been mastered, you then have
01:28to comb your way through journals and religious texts belonging to previous inmates to find the
01:33tunnel out. With the threat of execution looming, you'll need plenty of teamwork and tenacity to
01:39make it out. If you think you can take on the challenge, then head on down to Baton Rouge to try
01:44it out yourself. Number 18. The Elevator Shaft, Los Angeles, United States.
01:50I was hired by a man named Edward to make some engineering changes on his old elevator shaft on
01:56his property. Though the chances of true danger are slim, some escape rooms truly feel like failure
02:02will result in disastrous consequences. Los Angeles' The Elevator Shaft is exactly that. You and your group
02:10are placed directly below a broken lift, which slowly descends from the ceiling. This will leave
02:15you scrambling to solve the clues before it reaches you, which is difficult given the sheer amount of
02:20mechanics involved. Not to mention, the area you're left in only holds up to four people, making it even
02:27more tense once the claustrophobia inevitably sets in. With only 45 minutes to find your way out before
02:33being flattened, it's a genuinely challenging and thrilling experience you'll never forget.
02:41Number 17. Steal the Car, Montreal, Canada. The concept of an escape game doesn't have to be
02:47limited to an indoor space. At Amaze, they shook up the format entirely with their challenge,
02:53Steal the Car. Participants were tasked with breaking into and stealing a vehicle that belonged
02:58to a local criminal so that they could turn it into the police and clear their names. The only catch?
03:04They only had 20 minutes before facing the wrath of Big Vanko. That left players scrambling to find
03:10keys and flee the lot, all while over a dozen people searched alongside them. Though it's no longer an

03:49to make it out in time. With a realistic set and several themed puzzles, including multiples centered
03:55around music, it's designed to feel authentic and genuinely challenging all at once. So come brave

04:08Greece. Forget having one hour to free yourself. Try three instead. Paradox Project in Athens breaks

05:54violent tests, Saw has been terrifying and entertaining audiences for two decades. Stretched across a total of
06:0013 timed areas, the official Saw Escape allows participants to become a part of their favorite
06:06movies. You and your team have to make your way throughout the building, taking on some of Jigsaw's
06:11traps and doing your best to evade his wrath. Not only is it frightening, but you need to be smart.
06:18Each one is connected, with some requiring you to remember facets of past rooms. So if you ever head

06:50to prove themselves to him. It takes the concept of a prison-themed experience and completely
06:55transforms it into a completely unique experience. They're then tasked with solving a series of
07:01puzzles and challenges that only a true artist like Houdini could solve. Should they complete them
07:07in time, then they prove themselves as master escapologists and get to join his legendary ranks
07:13for good? Number 11. Kingdom of Cats. Various Locations. For many, being thrown into a feline
07:21run world would be a dream come true. However, Kingdom of Cats turned that fantasy into a full-on
07:27nightmare to flee from. This year, you found yourselves at the doorsteps of this magical kingdom.
07:34Or so you thought. There, humans weren't allowed. And should their challenges be failed,
07:39then they may turn the loser into a living, breathing, scratching post. Several of the
07:44puzzles required Thinking Like a Cat to succeed, making it a genuinely enchanting and quirky experience
07:50that was bound to be remembered long after completing it. Unfortunately, this particular
07:55room is no longer in operation. But fear not. Om Escape has added on to the lore with a sequel
08:00that's filled to the brim with plenty of thrilling feline fun.
08:04Only by defeating the cat king will grant you the authority to leave the kingdom of cats
08:09and return home. Number 10. Team Escape Hamburg. Hamburg, Germany.

08:21stars, you know that they're delivering a phenomenal experience. At Team Escape Hamburg,
08:26there are 8 rooms spread across 2 locations where you and your friends can put your problem-solving
08:31skills to the test. And really, you can't go wrong whichever one you choose. That being said,
08:36the gallery and the Hoffman formula appear to be fan favorites. Team Escape Hamburg prides themselves
08:42on their compelling narratives and immersive experience. But don't lose yourself appreciating
08:46the theming. The clock is ticking. Number 9. Five Wits. Various Locations, United States.
08:54Founded in 2004, Five Wits has built up such a reputation for themselves that they've been contracted
08:59to design and construct walk-through adventures for museums and theme parks. Thankfully, they've
09:04also got their own locations in Massachusetts, New York State, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
09:10Technically, Five Wits doesn't consider the experience they offer to be escape games,
09:14but rather goal-oriented team missions in an interactive setting. We think it's close enough.

09:26And considering how incredible these experiences are, we couldn't leave them off the list. These
09:31challenges are high-tech, painstakingly themed, and incredibly satisfying. You really need to try
09:36one out for yourself to understand. Number 8. Room Escape Stockholm by Fox in a Box. Stockholm, Sweden.
09:43Sweden is a bit of a mecca for escape game enthusiasts, boasting a high number of high-quality
09:48establishments, each with their own unique offerings. But if you had a stopover in Sweden
09:53and only time to visit one, Room Escape Stockholm would have to be it. Seven different escape
09:58games are spread across two neighboring addresses, and while they change regularly, 2018 saw such
10:03notable narratives as Zodiac Killer and Tesla's Mystery. One of the most interesting experiences
10:14offered by Room Escape Stockholm is Prison Break, head-to-head, which pits two teams against
10:19one another in identical prison settings. Number 7. Trapped in a Room with a Zombie. Various Locations.
10:26Any zombie fans in the audience today? Great. We've got an escape room with your name on it.
10:31Wasn't this supposed to be a zombie?
10:36This narrative adds an actor into the mix to make the experience extra immersive, and in this
10:41particular case, terrifying. The aptly named Trapped in a Room with a Zombie locks players into a room

10:59Adventures, has since been licensed across the United States, and has even popped up in the UK and Spain.

11:11this chain of escape rooms means business. Based out of Russia, Claustrophobia has over 100 escape
11:17rooms throughout Europe. Their conquest of the market is the result of more than just good marketing,
11:21though. Claustrophobia is constantly pushing the boundaries of this entertainment medium.
11:25The theming of their escape rooms is always excellent, and they've expanded the concept of
11:30escape rooms to involve more actors, with the performance format encouraging players to take
11:34on specific roles that push the narrative forward.
11:39True to its name, Claustrophobia always delivers a pulse-pounding, emotional experience.
11:45Number 5. The Escape Game. Various Locations. United States.
11:49Not all escape rooms are created equal, and sometimes the theming or puzzles can be a little redundant.

13:07Housed in an ominous and imposing building where things only get stranger inside,
13:12Mr. X Puzzle House sets itself apart from other escape rooms.

13:18It's like you've stepped into one giant cabinet of curiosities.
13:22There are multiple rooms to choose from, and each one is like a trip down the rabbit hole,
13:26or to a different dimension.
13:28Whereas Western escape rooms tend to make your path relatively clear,
13:31Mr. X Puzzle House provides little in terms of guidance.
13:34This is not for the inexperienced, but even if you fail, the incredible theming is worth every penny.
13:40Number 2. Sherlocked, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
13:44It's known as the best escape room in Amsterdam,
13:47but some would argue it's the best in the Netherlands, if not the world.
13:51Located in the basement of a historic building, two escape experiences await,
13:55the architect and the vault.
13:56Both are rich in narrative and theming, likely to be among the best escape rooms you've ever tried.
14:01But the vault is arguably the better of the two.
14:03Critically acclaimed, it was called the best escape room in the world in 2018,
14:08when it took home the Golden Lock-in Award.
14:10It's also considered one of the most challenging escape rooms ever created.
