Nimisha Priya’s execution in Yemen has been officially postponed following the intervention of Kerala-based Islamic scholar Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, Grand Mufti. Acting out of a sense of national responsibility, he reached out to renowned Yemeni Sufi scholar Habib Umar bin Hafeez, who initiated talks with legal authorities and the victim’s family. A high-level emergency meeting was held, and key figures, including judges and tribal leaders, got involved. As a result, the Yemeni court issued an order to delay the execution, bringing renewed hope for a possible resolution.
