The Grand Canyon wildfire, known as the Dragon Bravo Fire, has devastated the North Rim, destroying the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and 70 other structures. Sparked by lightning on July 4, the Grand Canyon wildfire rapidly grew due to record-dry forest conditions, displacing around 280 National Park Service workers. Officials have come under fire for allowing the blaze to burn unchecked for a week before initiating full suppression. As the Grand Canyon wildfire continues to burn across 8,570 acres, the North Rim will remain closed for the rest of the 2025 season, reigniting debate over managed wildfire strategies in national parks.
