00:00So, Mr. Wade, I got to ask you, right?
00:03My dad's been incarcerated since I was 12.
00:06And I've been writing letters to him for many years.
00:08What was it like as a young kid being your mom's pen pal?
00:11What was it like for her to say that on air yesterday?
00:14Like, did she get emotional?
00:16When we was writing letters to each other?
00:18I mean, it was the greatest pen pal that I've ever had to be able to like,
00:23you know, have a connection still to my mom.
00:26You know, even though she wasn't there in the physical,
00:30we still had like a connection, we still shared things.
00:33Right.
00:34So she was still there for me, and I knew that she was going to get out.
00:37And so I just wanted to be there for her as much as I could as well.
00:40So I still have the letters.
00:44No way.
00:44I still have the letters.
00:45So I go back and I read them sometimes, you know, to see like,
00:48no matter where you go in life, you always got to go back,
00:50you got to take a look, you know, to appreciate things.
00:52Now, what message would you give to anyone who might be dealing with that?
00:55A lot of young people follow you and look up to you.
00:57What's your message to them if they have an incarcerated parent?
01:00I mean, you know, we're all going to deal with things our own way.
01:04You know, I just say the biggest thing is my mom, I knew she needed my love.
01:10I knew she needed, my family knew she needed our love.
01:13We wanted to make sure she came home to us.
01:15And, you know, I don't know, I haven't been inside there,
01:18but I definitely knew that it wasn't the life that she was living before she went in.
01:23So we wanted to make sure that she understood that it was love out here waiting for her.
01:27You know what I mean?
01:28And that, you know, we wasn't judging her.
01:30We wasn't pointing fingers at her.
01:32We just loved her.
01:33We just wanted her to come home to us.
01:34So that message kept her going.
01:37You know, we wanted her to be a grandmother.
01:39We wanted her to be, you know, a mother as well and all the things.
01:42So can we do a quick fit check to this?
01:45No, not with what I'm wearing.
01:46What? This is not bad.
01:48It's actually funky.
01:49I'm real chill.
01:49This is everything from my, from my, from my brand.
01:52This is all Wade gear.
01:53Where are you off to next?
01:54What are you guys coming up?
01:55I'll be here hosting today's show.
01:57That's what I'm doing.
01:57Is this going to be a regular gig?
01:59Because you've been here quite a lot.
02:01I mean, only if people really want me to be here.
02:03We do.
02:04Then they'll put pressure on NBC.
02:05That was me.
02:06That was me.
