00:08will they not build in india the mystery is finally over tesla is finally here we are in

00:13mumbai at tesla's first experience center in the country with me is the model y which is the

00:18first model to go on sale in india prices start at 59 lakh rupees over this video i'll tell you

00:24all that i know about this model so far as you can tell there is a full frenzy around me

00:34first things first the model y comes to india as a full input the experience center in mumbai will

00:39be followed by one in new delhi that opens soon now onto the car now teslas are known for clean

00:45styling and you see that on the tesla model y it's all very neat very tidy and very minimalist now

00:51for 2025 the front has been redesigned you get this light bar which is something we've seen on

00:56a whole lot of evs already of course the main reason is best aero efficiency and that aero efficiency is

01:04what enables those big range numbers now this being a born electric ev under here is a very large and

01:11very usable front the model y is quite a substantial car measuring 4.8 meters in length and 1.9 meters in

01:18width but the low and curved roof line means the size doesn't necessarily translate into big road

01:23presence the model y for india rides on 19 inch rims now the tesla model y is identifiable by this fast

01:30back like roof line it is a high riding crossover but this roof line is what gives it a very distinctive

01:36look and this roof line is also essential for the aero numbers that make those big range numbers possible

01:42now if you talk of styling at the back again very clean very tesla for 2025 you get these new tail

01:48lights there is a light bar that extends all the way back and practicality is really really impressive

01:56with all seats up you get over 900 liters of luggage capacity it's a flat loading space so really really

02:03good on uh space for your bags and suitcases and if you want more at the touch of these buttons the rear

02:12seats will fall down taking luggage capacity upwards of 2000 liters now tesla set the template for ev

02:20interior design this whole uh wave of minimalism started with tesla now as you'd expect everything is

02:27central and everything is central to this large touchscreen this is a 15.3 inch touchscreen and it

02:33controls almost all the functions on the car if you look around there's really no physical buttons all

02:40you get is an indicator stop nothing else a few buttons a rotary controller for the lights and wipers on the

02:47steering but everything else on this screen now of the other things you get uh pretty comprehensive

02:53ambient lighting it extends all the way to the back as well uh the ac vents are tucked away into the dash

03:00uh at least the first feeling of quality is that this is a pretty nicely done interior

03:05it's got this denim like look the leather seats look uh pleasant they're very well upholstered

03:11and also pretty good on comfort now of course uh being a tesla uh you will get a lot of wireless

03:17features etc so you get two wireless charging pads uh being an ev lots and lots of storage so you get storage

03:25right very deep over here two cup holders here another deep storage right over here to run through

03:31the features on both the front seats are powered heated and ventilated there's an onboard air purifier

03:36ambient lighting and hands-free boot operation the touchscreen measures 15.4 inches and there's

03:41all manners of connectivity features packed in so you can pre-cool the car if needed or remotely access

03:46the cameras to check your vehicle surroundings the adas suite relies on readings from eight cameras and

03:52functions such as forward collision warning auto braking and lane departure assist are standard fit

03:57self-driving capabilities are a 6 lakh rupee option though it's not clear as yet to what extent the

04:02car is programmed for indian conditions now as for space at the back the model y is actually quite

04:08generous and you have to think this is the smallest crossover in tesla's lineup i'm just under six feet

04:13tall and check out the knee room i have at my disposal the seating position is also quite comfortable

04:19it's not that typical knees up that you get or expect in evs seat position also nice the seat is

04:25well cushioned and you also have the option to recline the backrest there's power adjust for that

04:33now of the other things this one gets a full glass roof there's no cover for it so we'll have to see

04:39how it fares against a hot indian summer there is space for three passengers to sit in comfort but if

04:45it's only two of you you can pull down this armrest you get two cup holders here and a tech feature

04:50at the back is this screen which sits above the rear ac vents which is again itself above two usb

04:56charging slots now apart from controlling the climate control system it's also your go-to display for

05:03watching movies on the go and you can even play games so long journeys uh making the most of that range

05:11or just stuck in a traffic jam your rear seat passengers will not be bored thanks to this

05:16little screen at the back tesla has launched the model y in two configurations the standard rwd that

05:22comes priced at 59.89 lakh rupees ex-showroom uses a rear mounted motor that can propel the model y from

05:280 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds wltp range is 500 kilometers tesla hasn't announced battery size or

05:35motor power for india but a comparable version abroad gets a 63 kilowatt hour battery pack and 283 horsepower

05:41rear motor similarly the long range that's priced at 67.89 lakh rupees is understood to use a larger

05:4883 kilowatt hour battery and a 312 horsepower rear motor enabling a wltp range of 622 kilometers

05:54and a 0 to 100 kph time of 5.6 seconds top speed for both is 201 kph beside me is the big daddy of ev

06:03chargers this is the tesla supercharger and the good news is is tesla is establishing its supercharger

06:09network in india to start with there will be four locations with 16 superchargers in and around

06:15mumbai and another four locations in and around delhi with another 16 superchargers now the company

06:21has said that they will expand across the country slowly but surely because they're doing this all on

06:27their own it's not a franchise model it is direct by the company so it will take time but they are fully

06:34committed uh to developing a supercharger network now not to act corny this is the home charger that

06:40will be supplied with your tesla model y uh tesla expects this to be the go-to charging option for

06:48all its buyers in india deliveries for the standard range model start in the coming few weeks deliveries

06:53for the long-range model y start in the fourth quarter of 2025 hopefully we'll be driving the tesla model

06:59y in india in a few days time we'll let you know how it is and how it fits into the india scheme of

07:05things but before i sign off i want to know what do you think of the model y how it's been priced and

07:11will tesla be a hit in india remember it was the world's best selling car in 2023 and 2024 could it
