00:00The Marcus Jr.'s administration sets the tone for a bagong Pilipinas with its biggest budget yet.

00:24With the goal of further improving the country's overall state,
00:27President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr. has approved the proposed national budget for 2026,
00:33amounting to 6.793 trillion pesos.
00:37This proposed budget aims to strengthen education and fund key programs
00:40designed to ease the daily living condition of Filipinos.

00:48ay hindi lamang pang economic growth, kundi maiangat ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino

01:02at ang kinabukasan ng taong bayan, tungo sa mas progresibo at maunlad na bagong Pilipinas.
01:09According to the Department of Budget and Management or DBM,
01:12the proposed 2026 budget is 7.4% higher than this year's approved 6.326 trillion pesos.
01:19It is also equivalent to 22% of the country's gross domestic product or GDP.
01:25The 2026 National Expenditure Program prioritizes social services, particularly education,
01:31in line with the chief executive's directives.
01:33The president's direct involvement in the budget process helped align agency priorities with national goals,
01:39which played a crucial role in streamlining and finalizing the fund requirements for the coming year.
01:44The NEP is grounded in the Philippine Development Plan, which focuses on three core objectives,
01:49developing and protecting the potential of every Filipino and their families,
01:53strengthening production sectors to generate more jobs,
01:56and promoting a safe and enabling environment for sustainable growth.
01:59Under the proposal, government agencies will receive 4.305 trillion pesos,
02:05while local governments will be allocated 1.350 trillion pesos.
02:09Government-owned and controlled corporations will get 188.3 billion pesos in subsidies,
02:15equity infusions, and net lending support.
02:18The president is expected to submit the National Expenditure Program to Congress
02:21within 30 days after the opening of the regular session.
02:25After submission, the House and Senate will begin budget hearings for each government agency.
