00:00Hello. Yes, more than 200 firefighters tackled three separate grass fires in East London
00:09on Monday evening. Some residents in Dagenham were asked to temporarily leave their homes
00:16after eight hectares of grass, shrubland and trees, fences and garden furniture caught
00:24a light near Beam Parklands. Wildfire beaters were later used to tackle those flames that
00:30destroyed an area of grassland near Wingletai Lane, Hornchurch and then firefighters brought
00:38a third fire under control at Walthamstow Marshes in North East London. The flames have now been
00:47put out and the cause of the fire is under investigation. As London Fire Brigade warns
00:53it could be a challenging summer due to warm and dry weather conditions. About 125 firefighters
01:02tackled the blaze in Dagenham, which reached neighbouring houses. Storm Commander Matt Hayward
01:08has said that firefighters worked extremely hard. The fire had reached some garden fences,
01:14sheds and garden furniture. Jets and wildfire beaters were used to stop flames reaching the
01:21properties. The London Fire Brigade added that fire breaks instilled by the local authority
01:27had been important in preventing the fire from spreading to residential areas. The London Brigade
01:37has urged Londoners to act responsibly to prevent further fires.
