00:00Apparently there are over 10 million dogs in the UK and a quarter of all adults own a dog.

00:07I don't blame them. This is Sky the Golden Doodle. Now Skoda, one of the most family friendly car

00:12makers out there, are also very dog friendly. That's nice isn't it? They even sponsor Crufts.

00:44So the new Skoda Elrock, it's the little brother of the Enyaq which has been really successful. So

00:58Skoda, all electric obviously. Now this car heralds a whole new dawn for Skoda. It's the start of a new

01:05modern solid design theme. Modern solid, yeah I'll let you look that up but I don't think it looks

01:11great. What do you reckon Skye? Yeah Skye just said it looks resplendent in red. Well done Skye,

01:16that's a very big word. But there's a few little features I really like on the front. These new

01:20LED lights are quite cool, you hide the main headlights underneath and this is called a tech

01:27deck apparently. Did you know that Skye? Yes, apparently Skye says it hides all the gubbings

01:34for all the safety stuff, the cameras and the sensors and all that sort of stuff that you might have boxed

01:38away on the car elsewhere. So it's quite clever, keeps it all looking quite clean. This car is

01:43super aerodynamic as well. What's that for Skye? Yes it's for efficiency and this car in my experience,

01:49I've been driving this for the past few days, it's really quite efficient too. Should we go and have

01:54a look at the back Skye? Yep, okay we're gonna have a look at the back. Come on. So Skye wants to show

02:00you the back of the car don't you Skye? Come on let's have a look at this, what do you think?

02:04Er, she's really not that bothered but she tells me that apparently it's quite familiar compared to

02:11the front end which is all new. You've got the familiar c-shaped lights there, some clever aerodynamic

02:17stuff going on and this Skoda lettering, the big word mark they call it, what's that Skye? Skye?

02:25She's not saying anything but she did tell me earlier that apparently chrome is really bad for the

02:30environment so this is a chrome effect thing, it's sort of a darker chrome and Skye likes things that

02:35are good for the environment don't you? Do you? Yep you can see she's really into the environment.

02:40How long can I keep this up for? Oh Skye says all video please. Let's have a look inside.

02:47What do you think of this Skye? Come and have a look. What do you think inside? Yeah it looks quite nice

02:51doesn't it? I have to say the interior is really nice and lots of sustainable materials Skye, yeah that's good.

02:58We like sustainable materials this material on the on the seats. Who needs leather when

03:02materials look this posh and this warm and this material that's used across the dash and on the

03:08doors it just warms the interior up but Skoda have taken their own rude 13-inch touchscreen there

03:14they've got some fast keys at the bottom which are very important all the major functions like the

03:19rear demister and stuff like that but you also get a like a dock at the bottom of the screen with all

03:23the important stuff but visibility is good out and there are so many family friendly features big door

03:31bins lots of storage space in the middle couple of usb chargers and wireless charging under there

03:38and of course in the door by you there's an umbrella Skoda has to have an umbrella in its doors

03:44doesn't it? Spacious family friendly but let's have a look in the back shall we? There's loads and loads

03:51of space back here for all the family I think you can get three abreast probably and also more family

03:57friendly features here big pockets there but there's also a little space for you to put your

04:03your mobile phone charging points are plenty heated seats in the back heated seats in the front heated

04:08steering wheel you never knew you needed heated seats in the back until you tried them but yeah this

04:14is another seriously family friendly Skoda

04:21so let's have a look in the boot or Skye's quarters as it's also known this model is the

04:27edition one and you get the delightful electric powered boot door 470 litres of space now in my

04:35view I measure things in Skye space and Skye when you finish with the grass what do you think about

04:39this is this okay yeah Skye says there's plenty of room back here right I'm just going to let Skye

04:45loose in this field for a little bit so I can show you the boot now we've mentioned simply clever I'm

04:50going to show you two of my favorite simply clever features now used to be the case that in the fuel

04:56filler flap there used to be a little ice scraper now these days it's still here but it's in the boot

05:03so I think that's really clever two things two more things here that I absolutely love parcel

05:10shelves now this is a clever parcel shelf because it can go at two different levels there's loads

05:14of little places to put dog leads for example in the back here so this parcel shelf if I get it out of

05:19there it can go down here there we go so a bit of luggage under there and something else on there

05:26I don't think Skye is going to be happy sitting on there in fact when Skye goes in you don't want the

05:31parcel shelf and I love this because the parcel shelf will actually slide down the back there

05:42no longer do I have a selection of car manufacturers parcel shelves I've had to take out because Skye

05:47goes in the back and they all sit in my shed that's really clever see this here that's the charging cable

05:53now if you've got an electric car you know that sometimes if you've got a load of stuff in the boot

05:58and the charging cable is under the boot floor there is a little bit of storage under there

06:03you have to take everything out so Skoda let's put this clever little net that the charging cable

06:09goes in so clever so thoughtful so family friendly dog friendly we like everything so far what is this

06:17car like to drive what do you reckon Skye do you fancy going for a drive oh you're giving me the head

06:23tilt she definitely wants to go for a drive you're driving come on

06:40before we get to the drive let's talk about batteries there are three to choose from 55

06:44kilowatt hours 63 kilowatt hours and 82 kilowatt hours this one's the 82 kilowatt hours

06:50it'll go up to a claimed 360 miles pretty impressive you choose which battery you want

06:56depending on how far you you tend to go what I would say is that the efficiency of this car

07:02let me just have a look and see what I've been doing it's over four miles per kilowatt hour which

07:07in real world efficiency and I've done a lot of motorway driving as well when EVs aren't their most

07:11efficient that's pretty impressive in terms of fast charging yes they do different rates of fast

07:17charging but rule of thumb it's going to take you about 30 minutes on a super fast charger whichever

07:23battery you choose to go from around 20 charge to 80 charge again par for the course and of course

07:30it's an EV so you can just put your foot down and you get a nice little bit of performance

07:35now in terms of the drive one thing that's very important is visibility and I talk a lot about when

07:40you're looking in the rear view mirror it's like looking through a letterbox at last a car with a

07:45decent size rear screen and it has a rear wiper on it how many cars don't have rear wipers here

07:52apparently the aerodynamics tree no it doesn't anyway rear wiper I like that in the old one

07:57decent size mirrors as well as the side visibility is good got a good camera system as well to help you

08:05and I've spoken about this interior which is really really quite comfortable and just easy to live with

08:12and and sometimes just easy to live with is good and this car is easy to drive the steering is is

08:19quite nicely weighted it's no sports car but you know it's just comfortable there's nothing wrong with

08:26being comfortable is there the one thing I would say is that this car is on rather sexy 20 inch wheels now

08:34they look absolutely fabulous but the ride is just a little bit bumpy it's not going to put me off this

08:43car because generally I do really like it so the efficiency is good everything else family friendly

08:49dog friendly but I'm just slightly concerned about the ride quality so I would reckon if you have one

08:57on smaller wheels not these 20s then it will be a little bit more comfortable something to bear in mind

09:03although you know you're going to be tempted by the the sport line trim which is the top trim spec

09:09and that comes with the body kit it looks fantastic nice colors and big wheels this is the addition

09:16moving down the range there's an SEL and an SE and you know I mentioned the battery sizes that the actual

09:23nomenclature of the cars makes no relation to the battery sizes well I think it's 50 60 and 85 are what the

09:31cars are called which frankly is complete gobbledygook when you compare it to what the actual battery

09:39sizes are but there you go so the new Skoda Elrog what do we reckon Sky have Skoda scored a goal or is

09:46it a miss well it's dog friendly family friendly as far as we're concerned it's in the back of the net
