The valley of light

00:00The man never imagined that after just a few years at war, his hometown would become
00:04unrecognizable. Not a single relative came to welcome him home. Even worse, his childhood
00:09home was now occupied by strangers. Confused and heartbroken he went to the town and found
00:14one of his father's old friends. That's when he learned his parents had passed away a year earlier,
00:18and the house, it had been inherited by his younger brother who got arrested for breaking
00:22the law. Because of that the property was seized and auctioned off. Devastated, the man went to
00:27the prison to visit his brother. He had planned to lecture him about responsibility, but the
00:31moment his brother opened his mouth, he couldn't say a word.
00:35You don't understand how hard it was with mama sick. I had to get out. I couldn't breathe.
00:46They said I could go to mama's funeral, but I'd have to be in chains, and I couldn't do that there.
00:55His brother blamed himself, but the man knew deep down, he too was at fault. He hadn't been there
01:00when their mother was sick. Maybe if he had his brother wouldn't have gone down this path.
01:05Racked with guilt, he went to the warden, and begged him to release his brother. But the warden refused.
01:10No matter your heroism, he said, your brother broke the law, and justice must be served.
01:15The man left in silence, feeling even more lost than before. Now without family or a home,
01:20he wandered aimlessly. He fished in rivers to fill his stomach. He pitched a tent whenever he was
01:25tired. After walking hundreds of kilometers, he started to find comfort in this nomadic freedom.
01:30It seemed to ease the torment left by war. But one day, just as he was about to cast his line,
01:35an old man appeared beside him. The stranger took one look at his guarded posture, and knew he was a
01:40soldier. They began to talk while fishing in silence. But something about the old man felt off.
01:45He claimed that not long ago, he had seen someone traveling with the man.
01:49When the old man described them, the man froze. It sounded like his parents. But that made no
01:54sense. They were already gone, disturbed. He tried to ignore the stranger. But before parting,
01:59the old man told him of a place he'd never heard of. A place he said,
02:03where all his questions would finally be answered.
