00:00Wait, I'm sorry, are you Lois or are you Lois?
00:02Do I have a program just so I know who everybody is?
00:04Who's Lois now?
00:12Hi, I'm Aaron from Golden Screen Cinemas, Malaysia.
00:15Nice to speak to you all today.
00:16I'll just do my Lois impression.
00:19This is my imaginary tape recorder.
00:21So, David, Rachel, what's it like being Superman and Lois?
00:26Well, great question, Lois.
00:27Wait, I'm sorry, are you Lois or are you Lois?
00:30I don't know what to have.
00:31Can I have a program just so I know who everybody is?
00:33Okay.
00:34What's it like being Lois?
00:36Playing Lois?
00:37Who's Lois now?
00:38I think you from the last time I called.
00:42What?
00:43What it's like being Superman?
00:44Yes.
00:45Playing Superman.
00:45It's really cool to get to play a character who is already so much in the public consciousness.
00:53It's sort of like the most fun version of getting to play a great Shakespearean character
00:58or I guess that's sort of the, I don't know.
01:02It's a little like theater in that all these roles have been embodied by actors that we
01:07admire before us.
01:08They've lived so many different lives before we got to live this one with them.
01:12Yeah.
01:12It's pretty cool.
01:13I love that you mentioned theater because that scene that you guys had, I was like,
01:17I come from a musical background and I was like, okay, these films are like a play and
01:21you guys were perfect in that.
01:23David, also I love that there's a subtle difference in the tone of your voice and your body posture.
01:27Whenever you switch between Clark Kent and Superman, I was wondering if that was inspired
01:32by the late great Christopher Reeve or was that something you and James discussed before
01:36shooting the film?
01:37It was mostly inspired by Chris Reeve who, you know, being the first big screen Superman
01:43and having made such, I mean, it's almost an understatement to just say made an impact.
01:50He created the character on the big screen for so many people and still endures as sort of
01:55the original big screen Superman and that scene where he does it in the original movie
02:00is so iconic.
02:01It's so well done and so much in just the way he changes his voice and his posture.
02:06There are also some great drawings.
02:08I forget whether they're Grant Morrison or Frank Quiley, but some great drawings for the
02:12comics where they're laying out the difference in Clark Kent's posture from Superman's posture.
02:18And in the comics, you don't hear of difference in voice, but you certainly get a difference
02:21in pace of talking and sort of vocabulary.
02:24It's a fun thing to get to play with as an actor playing two characters, especially when
02:28it's in the same scene.
02:29Rachel, as for you, I mean, Louise is so much more than Clark Kent's love interest.
02:34I was wondering what is one aspect about her character that you felt the need to get right
02:38in order to encapsulate the essence of who she is?
02:42I think the balance of these different sides of her.
02:46She's somebody who I think often is portrayed as primarily either a love interest or primarily
02:52a journalist.
02:54And there have obviously been some phenomenal interpretations that I think walk that tightrope
02:59really beautifully.
03:01But it was something that I was focused on.
03:03I love the idea that as someone who is an everyday superhero, somebody who's the top of
03:08her game, somebody who prides herself on being able to be 10 steps ahead of everybody else
03:13and see around every corner, that this love that they share is this thing that knocks her
03:19off her feet, that she can't work out in her head, that she can't logic her way around.
03:26And that's a new feeling for her.
03:30And I feel like James gave us this great roadmap to look at all of the different sides of these
03:35characters, but also to watch her in particular in a way that was fun for me to portray grapple
03:41with that.
03:42Have you been to Malaysia?
03:44No.
03:44Not yet?
03:45Okay, well, we're bringing Malaysia to you guys with a game of this or that.
03:49Great.
03:49Okay, so this is our local delights.
03:52We've got nasi lemak and roti chanai.
03:55Based on first impression, which one would you go for?
03:58Nasi lemak.
03:59Nasi lemak, okay.
04:00The boiled egg does it for me.
04:01All right.
04:02Well, how about teh tarik or Milo ice?
04:04So it's basically milk tea and this chocolatey ice drink called Milo ice.
04:08Milo ice, the chocolate.
04:09Okay, James was like, I hate chocolatey drinks, so you guys can take it up to you.
04:13That's a strange man.
04:14If you had to visit a building in Malaysia, Fetanas KLCC or Merdeka11,
04:19which one would you go for?
04:21KLCC.
04:22I don't know whether it's just a photograph, but that's a pretty cool looking building.
04:25It's a really unique building.
04:26Yeah, it's like a shopping center.
04:28Oh, even better.
04:30We love shopping.
04:31Love to shop.
04:32And the last question is, this is our Malaysian superheroes.
04:36Chichak Man is basically, the direct translation is Lizard Man.
04:40And Kaluang Man, he's like a vigilante.
04:41He uses his strength with, you know the drill?
04:44I'm not hinting at anything, by the way.
04:45So I was wondering, which one would you choose as Superman's sidekick?
04:48Right into the town.
04:49Chichak Man it is.
04:50Okay, cool.
04:50Well, thank you guys.
04:51Thank you so much.
04:52Thank you so much.
04:52Thank you so much.
