00:00And that only, you only get here by being in the presence of God.
00:04That's why the Bible says, be still and know that I am God.
00:10We got to get back into the most holy place in the Bible was what?
00:14The Holy of Holies. What do you, what's in the Holy of Holies?
00:18Nothing but God. Maybe the ark. In the days of Jesus there was no ark. It was just God.
00:23You and God. Nothing. That's the holiest place to be with God. Just with God.
00:28That's the Holy of Holies. When you're there it's as holy as the Holy of Holies when you have your secret time.
00:34In other words, Selah. Selah. You see it? What does it mean? It's a mystery word.
00:40It's there in the, it's there in the Psalms. Selah.
00:44What it, what it, what it most likely comes from a Hebrew word, Hebrew root word that means
00:50hang it up. And it may mean that they had the harp.
00:54Hang up the harp for a moment. Hang it up. Now even the harp's stopping here.
00:58Selah. Stop. So it says something. Stop. Just take it in now.
01:03Take it in. Now the Psalms are beautiful.
01:06But your life needs also Selah's so you, your life can become beautiful like a Psalm.
01:12In order for your life to become beautiful, your heart to be beautiful, your mind have peace.
01:18You have to be more like a Psalm. And that means you need Selah. Stop. Okay.
01:22Stop. Be still. Be still with God.
01:26Rest in the Lord. It says in the Psalm.
01:29It says rest. It doesn't just say rest. It doesn't say sleep.
01:32You ever praying to God and you actually fall asleep?
01:35That's not resting in God.
01:39That's falling asleep in the middle of talking to God and God saying, okay, come on.
01:43What do you want to say? What's going on here?
01:45I was on the phone with somebody once and my friend is going on and on and I'm lying in bed
01:49and I don't know what happened, but I fell asleep on the phone.
01:53And I, I wake up. It was kind of a, I wake up. I don't know it was like, like 10 minutes, 15 minutes late.
01:59And he's not, and there's nothing on the phone.
02:02And I said, I said hello. I said Paul. I said John. He said John. He's Jonathan.
02:06He stopped talking because I stopped talking. So he's just waiting to find out what's going on.
02:11But I felt, but we could do that with God. But that's not, that, that, that's when you're too tired.
02:15You're resting from God. This is rest in the Lord. It's not about just what you're resting.
02:20When we think about rest, I'm taking a rest from. But here it's saying rest in.
02:25That means it's not just to rest from. It's that I want to rest in, that I'm resting in the love of God.
02:31I'm, I'm surrounded by God. I'm resting in God's peace. I'm resting in His, under His wings.
02:39I'm resting in His arms. That's where refreshing comes. I'm resting in His faithfulness.
02:44I can rest because I know He's faithful. I'm surrounded by Him. That's what,
02:49it's to be able to learn how to rest in God. That's what refreshes your soul.
02:54You can't rest in shallow sleep. When I was a kid, I'd stay up late.
02:59How many people stayed up later than you were supposed to? Okay. Bad people.
03:05But you know what happened, you know what, and the lights were, you know, and, and, and I had the lights
03:09off and my parents would look lights off, you know, and then, but then, then I'd get out my flashlight
03:12and I'd go under the covers with a flashlight and I'd look at the comic books and look at all that
03:18under the covers, you know, and sometimes, you know, you know, you know, and then sometimes they come in,
03:22they turn the light on and I'm just like, I have to be like fake like I'm sleeping.
03:26You ever do that? I can't believe we have these kind of people here.
03:30And, and you know, you know, and, but, but God wants us to, the key is to get, get deep into it.
03:39It takes a while when your soul's not used to it, but get deep in it. That's where, and where you,
03:43where now I'm in it. Now I don't want to get out. That's where the refreshing comes.
03:49You know, I remember I was one time in my life and it was a storm going on. I mean,
03:53new in the Lord and tons of things were going all over the place. And I just kept thinking about it,
03:58thinking about it. And I remember I had to just constantly, I just had to, I just had to focus
04:02on the Lord. See, I saw like the Lord looking over the Galilee and saying, be still, peace, be still.
04:08I just kept seeing Him. And that's what, that's what gave me peace. That's what gave me refreshing.
04:13You know, in the natural you need, in a, in a house you need insulation to, to in order,
04:18otherwise all you have is the outside world coming in. You got cold, it's cold inside, you got hot.
04:22But if you have insulation, you know, well you need, resting in God is your insulation
04:27from the world. It's the, it's the antidote that keeps you at peace no matter what's going on.
04:33It's your antidote. It doesn't matter what's happening in the world. If you're strong
04:37in God's presence, you will have peace no matter what's going on.
04:42He says, I remember, I mean the, it says, it says, I remember at that time when I was, I was saying,
04:49Lord I just need your peace. And that scripture says, He will keep in perfect peace the one whose heart,
04:55mind is fixed on Him. So there's a choice. I've got to be fixed on Him if I want peace.
05:00The Bible says in Hebrews, there remains a Sabbath for us to enter Him.
05:06What is that Sabbath? It's the Sabbath of Messiah. And it, and it says in order to get into it,
05:11the one who gets into it is the one who rests from His works as God has rested from His.
05:16The Lord on the cross said, it is finished. He rested and it was Sabbath.
05:21In order to enter the Sabbath of Messiah, we have to be finished from our works. It doesn't matter
05:26if it's good or bad. Even the bad of your life. You've got to be finished with it. It's done.
05:30You lifted it to God. It's over. You don't dwell on it anymore. It's in God.
05:34And then I rest in His finished work. Because no matter what I do, it's never going to be finished.
05:40No matter what I do, what you do, it's never going to be perfect. But when God's work, when I'm focusing on
05:45God's work in my life, that's perfect. God's work finishes my work. God's work completes your work.
05:52God's work completes your life. And that's what you've got to rest in, not your.
05:56It says, it says in that Psalm, don't worry. Fret not. Don't worry.
06:00Well how can you not worry? It goes together. If you want to have the peace and the refreshing God,
06:04you've got to stop worrying. How can you stop worrying? If God, you know, if God,
06:08if God is driving, you can rest. I remember when you were a kid, sometimes you were in your parents' car
06:13and you fell asleep. And you, they just, they drove you. You're sleeping at the end. They wake you up
06:17or they carry you up to bed. And you remember something like that? Well, you could rest because
06:22their parents were driving. Well, if you don't trust that God is driving, you're not going to rest.
06:26You've got to be able to rest because you know that God is driving. It says, he who keeps Israel will not slumber
06:31or sleep. He's staying up so you can rest. You've got to be able to trust him. You want refreshing? You've got to,
06:36Lord, this is in your hands. I trust you, Lord. I thank you that you're going to, we're going to work
06:40it out. I don't have to know how. You're going to work it out. It says in Philippians, be anxious for
06:45nothing, but in everything give it up to God and give thanks for him. I remember as we bring this home,
06:51I was in Israel. We're on one of the tours. We're looking for a place for communion. And we, they chose
06:56a place but it ended up, there was like a, there was like an auto repair shop there and it just wasn't
07:01conducive. And so I said, let's just go down towards the waters to see Galilee.
07:05We go down and we find this place and it turns out we said, well this is the place. We had it there
07:10and we had it. We had an awesome time in God's presence. It turned out that we found out afterwards
07:14that ancient tradition, there's ancient tradition that that place is the place where the Lord told
07:21his disciples, come away to a quiet place for a time. And that they, the first believers, Jewish believers used
07:29to gather there. Wonderful place. And you see it doesn't matter, that turned out to be one of the
07:34greatest times in Israel. And it was doing nothing just being in the presence of God. But you can have
07:39that anywhere you are. You can have that holy place. God says come away with me. Every day we need to
07:48come away with him. There's a holy place. Come away. It says in Psalm 37 it says rest in the Lord or rest to
07:56the Lord. Le Adonai. Same words that are on the high priest's crown where it says holy to Adonai.
08:04Same thing. Means you always have a way of entering the Holy of Holies no matter where you are in your life.
08:10And the, but the key is you've got to turn away. It says to the Lord. You've got to turn away from the
08:14problem. Forget that. Turn to him. You can deal, he'll deal with that. You can deal with it another
08:19time with him. But the most holy, the greatest thing you have is that I am to the Lord. I'm going to be
08:25focusing on God. It's the only thing I see here. The Lord said come to me all you who are weary and burdened
08:32down. And I will give you what? Rest. Take my yoke. It's easy. Come to me. So the Lord is saying that and
08:40he's saying to each of us. I'm, listen. I, take it personally. God is saying come away with me.
08:47As in the Song of Solomon. Come away my beloved. Come away. Rest in me and I will give you new strength.
08:55You need new strength. You need to be revived. You need renewal. You need refreshing.
09:01Come away with me and I will give you that. And your strength will be renewed. You will mount up
09:08with wings as eagles. You will run and not be weary. You will be revived. And times of refreshing
09:17will come from the presence of the Lord. Your life shall be renewed. Your youth shall be like the eagle.
09:24And your life shall become like a well-watered garden, says the Lord.
