Born on July 10, 1942, in Kankipadu, a village in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district, Kota began his artistic journey in theater before transitioning to films. Pranam Khareedu, released in 1978, marked his entry into the film industry. Over a span of more than four decades, he appeared in over 750 films, not just in Telugu, but also in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.Known for his commanding screen presence and versatility, Kota portrayed a wide range of roles-villains, comic characters, and supporting parts. He brought a distinctive style to negative roles, often blending menace with sarcasm or humour. His performances in films like Aha Naa Pellanta, Pratighatana, Yamudiki Mogudu, Siva, Bommarillu, Athadu, and Race Gurram were widely noted. His last theatrical release was Suvarna Sundari in 2023.
