00:00Liverpool signed a future Ballon d'or winner. Richard Hughes has signed a future Ballon d'or
00:04winner for Liverpool. The club's new sporting director is getting a lot of praise this summer.
00:09Hughes deserves it. He's been brilliant in his recruitment bringing in Florian Wurz,
00:13Milos Kerkhez, Jeremy Frimpong, Freddie Woodman and Armin Pexi. Diogo Hoda. Thank you. All of
00:19them are astute signings. Although obviously, the Wurz signing takes precedence above all.
00:24In the German, Hughes brought in a generational player, while beating Manchester City to his
00:28signature. The same can be said of Kerkhez, of course, who was also wanted by Real Madrid and
00:33Manchester City but chose Liverpool. Much of that is down to Arnslott and the club's performances on
00:38the pitch. However, credit must be given to Hughes as well who played a key role in negotiations
00:42and convincing these players to choose the club above all. Hughes' best signing though may not
00:47even be Wurz nor Kerkhez. In fact, everyone is already forgetting that he brought in a generational
00:51signing beating Manchester City to his signature last summer. Read more. Diogo Hoda's legacy is
00:57bigger than any of us realized. Yes, that's right. Hughes' best signing may be Rio Ngumaha,
01:02who he lured away from Chelsea last summer and beat Manchester City to his signature in what may go
01:06down as an incredible transfer. We saw why against Accrington Stanley last season when Ngumaha became
01:11the youngest ever player to start a game for Liverpool at just 16 years old. In that game,
01:15Ngumaha already showcased his brilliant ability. He was a joy to watch as he mesmerized his opponents
01:20and pretty much dominated the play in the first half of that match. Now we've seen another glimpse
01:25of his exquisite talent against Preston North End. Arnslott named him in Liverpool's starting lineup
01:29alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah, Dominic Soboslay and Ryan Gravenberge. Yet despite all
01:35the star power on the pitch, it was Ngumaha who shone the brightest. He completed the most dribbles
01:39on the pitch, too, in the first half and always looked comfortable receiving the ball. What was
01:44really encouraging is that the Liverpool stars kept looking up to find him and were always playing
01:48balls into Ngumaha. Primarily because he was the one player on the pitch making things happen.
01:53Being able to do that as an academy player in just your second appearance with the first team is
01:57special. Being able to do that at 16 years old is even more special. But that's the kind of talent
02:02Liverpool have Ngumaha. He's generational and in years to come, he could prove to be the star of
02:07slots team. Already, he's showing signs that he can compete with the first team and even earn himself
02:12a spot in the squad. But he harbors bigger ambitions. Speaking in an interview with Inside the Academy
02:17back in October 2024, Ngumaha revealed he wanted to win the Ballon d'Or.
02:22I truly believe I can win the Ballon d'Or one day. I want to be regarded as one of the best players to
02:27ever play football and be a legend of the game, he said. Based on what he has shown so far,
02:32he's definitely proved he's got the potential to do that. There's just something unique about him,
02:36something that reminds you of the very best players, almost Lamanumal-esque.

02:44This is why Hugh's best signing may not have been Wurtz nor Kerkes but Ngumaha.
02:48A player who has all the potential in the world to fulfill his ambition of one day winning the
02:52Ballon d'Or. Yes, he's that special.
