00:0017 years old David Gulpilil arrives in London en route to the Cannes Film Festival.
00:05Mr Gulpilil, for many people, was the first Aboriginal face on the silver screen.
00:11Something more strong is holding me back.
00:13It was a big start.
00:14And the award goes to David Gulpilil.
00:18In 2021, David Gulpilil passed away in Murray Bridge, South Australia.
00:24But being returned back home to Gulpilil was my father's dying wish.

00:32I live in my land and land is live with me.

00:39Many clans guided the way for his spirit's return.
00:43David's family spread across the region, traveled hundreds of kilometers to perform his sacred rites.
00:50But there was no way to get through to Gulpilil.
00:53It was like mission impossible.
00:55But David wouldn't be buried until everyone had made their contribution.
