At a press briefing on Saturday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was asked about asylum processes.
Transcript
00:00and to be a part of the American Dream.
00:01Secretary, is that still the idea of folks leaving and coming back legally?
00:05It makes sense, but there have been ICE agents and others at immigration courts
00:09and folks presumably trying to go through that legal process, the asylum process, and immigration courts.
00:14Well, asylum's completely different, though, than a work visa.
00:18I mean, asylum, you have to be threatened by your government,
00:20and you have to have a real threat against you.
00:23And we are adding integrity back into these programs and how they're utilized.
00:28So we're not going to allow somebody to claim asylum that doesn't qualify like Joe Biden did.
00:32Joe Biden just let people walk into this country and say,
00:35okay, asylum, go be free, and did that for tens of thousands of people
00:39who were violent and a part of MS-13 and TDA.
00:43So...
00:43Not people who have overstayed, who we had to go look for,
00:50people who had final removal orders, people that didn't follow the law.
00:54I don't know how you explain that to the American people.
00:57Say, okay, you have to obey every single law,
01:00and when you break the law, there's consequences for it.
01:02But then you say, but anybody from any other country, you get to wave that away?
01:06That's absolutely insanity.
01:08No country does that.
01:09There's nobody that actually defends that,
01:12except for the fake news and a bunch of liberals,
01:15who actually are turning out to be communists and Marxists.
01:17They're not just liberals anymore.
01:19If you look at the Democrat Party, they're a party of communists and Marxists and socialists.
01:23So I would completely say nobody defends that.
01:26No American that I've talked to on the streets across this country
01:29will defend allowing illegal aliens to be treated better than American citizens.
01:34That's not what our founders intended.
01:36They came here to be free and to have liberty and fought for this country.
01:41And they fought the biggest military giant in the world that existed
01:45with their own personal handguns and muskets that they used to feed their families
01:49to give us this country.
01:51You think we're just going to let it go away?
01:53Absolutely not.
01:54I've got kids and grandkids that I'm going to fight every day for
01:57to make sure that they get the same chance to grow up with the opportunities
01:59that I had the chance to grow up with.
