Print-on-Demand Sellers Using ChatGPT
Transcript
00:00People say that print-on-demand is oversaturated.
00:03Now, you can believe that if you want,
00:05but the truth is, if your designs are bad,
00:08you're never going to stand out in the market.
00:11You're never going to sell.
00:13Now, I've done $1.2 million in Shopify print-on-demand sales
00:17this past year selling graphic T-shirts,
00:20and today I'm already up to 3,300 in Shopify sales
00:26in this exact market that people say is oversaturated.
00:31And I'm able to stand out because I use ChatGPT
00:34to outthink 99% of other sellers,
00:38not by using it to generate cookie-cutter designs,
00:41but by using it to understand my audience
00:44better than they understand themselves.
00:47Now, in this video, I'll show you how to uncover
00:49the emotional drivers behind your audience
00:52so that you can use that insight to create designs
00:55that connect, and more importantly,
00:58that convert into sales like this.
01:01Now, let me take you back a second.
01:03When I started print-on-demand back in 2020,
01:07ChatGPT didn't exist.
01:08In fact, AI wasn't even a part of the conversation
01:11at that point.
01:12I was doing everything manually.
01:15I was scraping through Etsy listings,
01:17digging into Amazon reviews.
01:18I was Googling for hours trying to find other brands
01:23that were similar to the ones that I wanted to build.
01:25And I was analyzing what everybody else was doing.
01:29Now, that kind of research definitely helped,
01:33but I still felt like I was guessing.
01:35I didn't really know my customer,
01:37at least not like I do now.
01:39I didn't quite understand their humor,
01:41what triggered them emotionally,
01:42or what they actually cared about.
01:45And that's why my early designs were honestly hit or miss.
01:49It was kind of like throwing spaghetti at the wall.
01:51And that's also why I've had so much more success
01:55with my current brand,
01:56because I'm designing designs
01:58that my niche actually wants.
02:02Now, fast forward to today,
02:04my process looks completely different
02:06from what I was doing back in 2020.
02:09Now, I still do research,
02:10but now I use ChatGPT to go way deeper
02:13than any marketplace search ever could.
02:16And I'm not using it to just generate
02:18generic t-shirt slogans.
02:20I'm using it to dig into my buyer's psychology.
02:23I'm talking about what they believe in,
02:26what frustrates them,
02:27what they celebrate,
02:29and what they feel proud to wear.
02:31This is the stuff that makes a design
02:33hit an emotional level.
02:36And that's exactly what 99% of sellers completely miss.
02:42Now, to show you exactly how I go through this process,
02:45I created an Excalibraw board
02:47that maps out every single step of the system
02:51from prompting ChatGPT
02:53to breaking down the audience's emotions.
02:56Now, let's head over there
02:58so that I can actually walk you through it.
03:00And if you want a copy of this full board
03:02with all the prompts and examples
03:04and the framework that I use,
03:05you can grab it for free
03:07by joining my school community.
03:08That's linked in the description below.
03:10Inside my school community,
03:12you'll get instant access to this board
03:14plus 51 hours of free
03:16Shopify print-on-demand course content
03:19and a vault of bonus tools and resources
03:22to help make your print-on-demand journey
03:24just a little bit easier.
03:26All right, now let's take a look at the board.
03:29This is the exact system that I use
03:31when I want to understand a niche
03:33at the level most sellers
03:35will absolutely never think about.
03:37I break my research down
03:39into nine distinct buckets.
03:41This helps me build a complete,
03:43emotionally rich customer profile.
03:45The first bucket being core demographics.
03:48I'm looking at the age, the gender split,
03:50the income that people in this niche make,
03:53their education level.
03:54If they have a political lean
03:56to one side or the other.
03:57The next bucket being daily life and routine.
04:00I'll look at their hobbies, their rituals.
04:02What do they do on the weekday versus the weekend?
04:04Do they use any specific pieces of technology?
04:07And what does their outdoor time look like?
04:09Three, I'll look at animals and archetypes,
04:12meaning symbolic creatures,
04:14mythos, spiritual symbols
04:15that they may use in this niche.
04:18Four, being geographic insights.
04:20So are there certain state clusters,
04:22zip code clusters, urban versus rural living?
04:26Are there any climate traits
04:28that I should be made aware of?
04:29Because if I'm selling, you know,
04:31hoodies for people that live primarily
04:34in near the equator,
04:35I'm probably not going to sell a lot of those.
04:37The fifth bucket, cross niche passions.
04:39Are there any overlapping interests
04:41or hybrid communities
04:42that I could potentially tap into with my designs?
04:45Six, language and slang.
04:47Are there any catchphrases,
04:49memes that connect with this group,
04:51idioms, or even emojis that they use often?
04:55Seven, being work life snapshot.
04:58What kind of job types do they use?
04:59Are there any specific pain points
05:01that people in this niche face?
05:04What does the work culture look like?
05:06And are there any time constraints
05:08that this niche could potentially have?
05:11Bucket number eight is food and drinks.
05:13What are their favorite snacks,
05:14their cultural meals?
05:16Do they have any drink rituals?
05:18And finally, nine, values and emotional drivers.
05:22What are these people's deep beliefs,
05:25their aspirations, their identity cues,
05:28and their emotional triggers?
05:30When you do this level of research,
05:32you stop designing from just your own bias,
05:35and you start designing only for the customer
05:39based off of real insight.
05:42And that, I think, is the biggest key
05:44that new sellers need to overcome.
05:46A lot of times when you're new to the space,
05:48we only know what we like,
05:51and we will design something that we like
05:53that we also think the niche may also like.
05:56But a lot of times that's just us designing in the blind.
05:59So by breaking it up into these nine specific buckets,
06:02we are able to get so granular
06:04of knowing about our niche
06:06that you're gonna end up knowing them
06:08better than they know themselves.
06:11So let's walk through this
06:12using the astrology niche as an example.
06:15Now, as you can see,
06:16I gave ChatGPT a prompt
06:18structured around those nine different buckets.
06:21Now, I did this by using ChatGPT 03
06:24for deeper, more contextual outputs,
06:28rather than the standard 4.0
06:30that ChatGPT initially prompts you to use.
06:34Now, here is what I got.
06:36You'll see that the age is around 18 to 40-year-olds.
06:39It's a 70% female market,
06:41and they tend to lean socially liberal.
06:44Their daily rituals could be moon-phase journaling,
06:47tarot cards, horoscope apps
06:49that they potentially start their day by using.
06:52Symbols would be the phoenix for rebirth,
06:54the owl for intuition,
06:56and the serpent for transformation.
06:58So those are all animals
06:59that we could potentially bring into our designs.
07:01Now, geographically speaking,
07:03a lot of people in this niche
07:05live in California, Oregon, Colorado, New York.
07:08Could we tailor designs to those specific states?
07:11Their culture,
07:12they tend to like to drink kombucha.
07:13They frequent vegan cafes, moon feasts,
07:17and enjoy herbal teas.
07:19Now, some slang that may be used
07:21is mercury and retrograde,
07:22big three, and even some emojis.
07:25Now, the emojis I may not use necessarily in a design,
07:29but those emojis will definitely help us
07:31when we go to market our designs using Facebook ads.
07:35If you've gone through my training
07:36in my free school community,
07:37you'll see that we use emojis in all of our ads.
07:41So that is definitely a great thing
07:43that we can continue to use through the entire process.
07:47Now, jobs, they like to be in the creative fields.
07:50Some are in retail, wellness practitioners,
07:52and some people even have remote roles.
07:55So are there certain things
07:56that we could potentially tap into there?
07:58Now, pain points for this demographic
08:01would be burnout, quarter-life crisis,
08:04feeling like they have a lack of purpose.
08:06So those are some emotions
08:08that we could potentially tap into with our designs.
08:10They value self-discovery, spiritual growth,
08:14and cosmic belonging.
08:16Now, I don't have to tell you
08:17how much this is just pure gold.
08:20This is how you make designs that truly feel personal,
08:24like you're connecting with that person
08:26better than any other brand
08:28has ever connected with them before.
08:31So after I get my nice, beautiful table,
08:34I asked ChachBT to turn that profile
08:37into design concepts.
08:38Now, the actual prompt that I used
08:40was using the U.S. astrology enthusiast
08:43buyer profile one-page cheat sheet,
08:46can you come up with creative ideas
08:47that can make t-shirt designs about this niche?
08:51And ChachBT delivered a full table
08:54with titles, visual concepts,
08:56and even the tone,
08:57and all emotionally aligning to this niche.
09:01I then added real-world inspiration.
09:03I just quickly went to Etsy
09:05and found very similar styles
09:07that are popular within this niche.
09:09And I asked ChachBT to basically
09:11take these design inspirations,
09:13these styles,
09:14which is amazing
09:15because it's not like
09:16we are just completely copying a design.
09:19I said,
09:19let's use these very common styles
09:21across the niche
09:22and then take the first concept
09:24that you gave us in that table
09:26and make me a design.
09:28And what it created wasn't a copy.
09:31It was a totally original,
09:33emotionally rich,
09:35audience-specific design idea
09:36ready for you to now throw onto Printify,
09:41connect to either your Shopify store
09:42or even Etsy,
09:43and start testing.
09:45Now, this type of research
09:46is complete gold.
09:48You can simply rinse and repeat
09:50this entire process
09:51to create hundreds
09:53of high-quality concepts
09:54that speak directly to your customer
09:57and rise above
09:58all the other generic
09:59just AI clutter
10:01that everybody else is making.
