00:00I haven't shaved my legs or my armpits in over six years and I used to shave on a very regular
00:05basis for years and it did feel like a chore but it also felt necessary to as a woman to feel
00:11beautiful and hygienic and attractive but over time I did wonder to myself why am I doing this
00:17and here are four reasons why I stopped shaving. First it's honestly such a hassle and the
00:23spikiness that would begin to grow back after just a day after shaving was quite uncomfortable
00:28and not to mention the ingrown hairs that would sometimes occur. It became another thing on my list
00:34another thing I was trying to fix within myself that wasn't inherently broken. Second I started
00:39to question the double standard why is it considered totally normal for men to have body hair but for
00:44women it's considered unattractive and unhygienic. Hair in itself isn't inherently dirty and it's not
00:50shameful it actually plays an important function for our body otherwise why would we have it. It
00:55helps balance our temperature it even holds pheromones and it's protective and yet as women
01:00we've been told to strip it away as if our natural body is something to change. Third the products most
01:06of us use to actually remove armpit and leg hair are completely full of hormone disrupting chemicals
01:12fragrance parabens phthalates chemical coated blades we're using them on warm and open pores directly
01:20over lymph nodes and sensitive areas and over time you really have to wonder what is this constant
01:26exposure doing to our hormones our skin barrier our liver our overall system. Fourth I wanted to feel
01:34at home in my body again just wild and natural and I didn't realize just how much how many aspects of my
01:41beauty routine were just trying to cover up parts of myself and allowing my hair to grow back again
01:47was one of the pieces of the puzzle that allowed me to trust my natural rhythm again with a softness and a wild beauty that
01:53wasn't shaped by trends or pressures. The purpose of this video isn't to tell you to stop shaving if it feels good for you
02:01genuinely then continue but I would definitely opt for more stainless steel razor instead of a plastic one and for natural oils and
02:09creams instead of synthetic lotions or shaving cream but if it feels like a chore more of a shame based choice or should then maybe it's time to ask why
02:20because true beauty doesn't come from erasing natural parts of ourselves it comes from our own confident choices that are good for us from authentic embodiment from being unapologetically fully you what do you think about this topic drop a comment below
