00:00I haven't shaved my legs or my armpits in over six years and I used to shave on a very regular basis
00:06for years and it did feel like a chore but it also felt necessary to as a woman to feel beautiful
00:12and hygienic and attractive but over time I did wonder to myself why am I doing this and here
00:18are four reasons why I stopped shaving. First it's honestly such a hassle and the spikiness that
00:24would begin to grow back after just a day after shaving was quite uncomfortable and not to
00:29mention the ingrown hairs that would sometimes occur it became another thing on my list another
00:34thing I was trying to fix within myself that wasn't inherently broken. Second I started to question the
00:39double standard why is it considered totally normal for men to have body hair but for women it's
00:44considered unattractive and unhygienic. Hair in itself isn't inherently dirty and it's not shameful it
00:51actually plays an important function for our body otherwise why would we have it it helps balance
00:56our temperature it even holds pheromones and it's protective and yet as women we've been told
01:01to strip it away as if our natural body is something to change. Third the products most of us use to
01:07actually remove armpit and leg hair are completely full of hormone disrupting chemicals. Fragrants,
01:13parabens, phthalates, chemical coated blades we're using them on warm and open pores directly over lymph
01:21nodes and sensitive areas and over time you really have to wonder what is this constant exposure
01:26doing to our hormones, our skin barrier, our liver, our overall system. Fourth I wanted to feel at home
01:34in my body again just wild and natural and I didn't realize just how much how many aspects of my beauty
01:42routine were just trying to cover up parts of myself and allowing my hair to grow back again was one of
01:47pieces of the puzzle that allowed me to trust my natural rhythm again with a softness and a wild
01:53beauty that wasn't shaped by trends or pressures. The purpose of this video isn't to tell you to stop
01:59shaving if it feels good for you genuinely then continue but I would definitely opt for more stainless
02:05steel razor instead of a plastic one and for natural oils and creams instead of synthetic lotions
02:13or shaving cream but if it feels like a chore more of a shame based choice or a should then maybe
02:19it's time to ask why because true beauty doesn't come from erasing natural parts of ourselves it comes
02:26from our own confident choices that are good for us from authentic embodiment from being unapologetically
02:32fully you what do you think about this topic drop a comment below
