On Saturday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem spoke about the scripture that was left in her hotel room by her advance team.

00:00What most people don't know is that the team that I have around me,
00:03they leave me encouraging notes once in a while.
00:06They leave me little notes either on my desk,
00:09they might leave it in the vehicle when I get in the vehicle.
00:12If I check into a hotel room really late,
00:14they might leave a note on the desk in there.
00:16I want to tell you what note they left for me last night
00:19when I got here really late and checked into my hotel room.
00:22My advance team left for me a scripture verse.
00:25The scripture verse was from Hebrews 13, 6.
00:28And this is what it said.
00:30It said, so we say with confidence that the Lord is my helper.
00:35I will not be afraid.
00:38What can mere mortals do to me?
00:41And I just was so overwhelmed by them,
00:44the fact that they are so kind enough to be encouragers to me
00:48and to leave me notes like that and to remind me of perspective.
00:53That in this life that all we need is a little bit of perspective
00:56about what life is, what hard things are,
01:00what challenging things are in front of us,
01:02but also what blessings we have in front of us.
01:05That scripture verse meant the world to me
01:07because in my job many times we're dealing with people who can be violent,
01:11with criminals.
01:12I'm standing in situations where we're surrounded by people who've been impacted
01:16by criminal activity,
01:19and we're taking action against very dangerous people.
01:23Now, I don't wake up in my days being scared.
01:26I don't spend any time worrying or being afraid
01:28because I just think that's a waste of energy.
01:29But I will tell you that scripture verses like that that say
01:33we can say with confidence that we will not be afraid,
01:36that we will stand,
01:38and that what can mere mortals do for this?
01:44You see, I would challenge each of you to live a life of significance.
01:48You could make a decision right here today
01:50that you are deciding to live a life of significance,
01:53a life that matters,
01:54a life that will impact people and make a difference for the future.
01:58And I'm here just to tell you that we need you,
02:01that we absolutely need you for the future of this country.
