00:00I must say member states find absolutely unacceptable and unjustified.
00:05Today we discussed the state of play and prospects for EU-US trade relations, including possible EU countermeasures,
00:12in light of the ongoing negotiations for an agreement in principle,
00:17as well as President Trump's announcement over the weekend of 30% general tariffs on the EU from the 1st of August,
00:24which, I must say, member states find absolutely unacceptable and unjustified.
00:31The EU, as you know very well, never walks away without genuine effort,
00:38especially considering the hard work invested, how close we find ourselves to making a deal,
00:44and the clear benefits of the negotiated solution.
00:48But as I have said before, it takes two hands to clap.
00:51It was also very clear today, and I have to say that comparing to the previous discussions we had with the ministers,
00:59now it came very clear across the table.
01:01So if this is a situation, we have to protect the jobs, we have to protect the businesses,
01:06we have to protect EU economy, and we need to go for these rebalancing measures.
01:10The message was the strongest I've witnessed since we started the discussion with the US.
