At a press briefing, DHS Sec. Kristi Noem responded to Democratic lawmakers visiting "Alligator Alcatraz."
Transcript
00:00...a chance to grow up with. Yes, sir?
00:02Back to Alligator Alcatraz, we've seen today from Democratic lawmakers here of the state of Florida
00:07talking about being turned away on an unannounced visit, and I understand...
00:11Listen, it's a state-run facility, so it's the governor's and the state's position how they conduct visits.
00:16I will tell you, these Democrat legislators before have put us in jeopardy
00:21by just showing up unannounced with a bunch of violent protesters trying to break into ICE facilities.
00:26So at our federal facilities, we have a protocol in place for when you want to visit.
00:30I need to make sure I have enough officers there that I can keep everybody safe when they visit.
00:34You don't get to just show up with a bunch of protesters and break down a fence and break into a federal facility.
00:39That's never been allowed, and I'm not going to allow it on my watch.
00:42Florida at Alligator Alcatraz can make the same decisions if that is what they think is appropriate,
00:48but I'll leave that up to them because as far as I'm concerned,
00:51the governor and his team have made wise decisions in this area before.
