A tenant from hell left his home littered with 3,000 empty beer cans stacked higher than the furniture - after only paying rent once in SEVEN years.

Landlords Sandra Considine, 58, and her husband Chris, 70, rented out the two-bedroomed flat in Nuneaton, Warks., to a friend in need for just £30-a-week in 2018.

But the couple say the man went silent just weeks into the lease - before he blocked access to the property for the next seven years, refused to leave and never paid rent.

Shocking footage shows the 'inhumane' state of extreme squalor which greeted the couple as they returned to the property they originally bought for their daughter.

00:00Basically a lot of beer cans with wee in it, rubbish, secretion, fetus in there.
00:09It's a pretty major ransack of the place and made a mess of it.
00:15It just needs all doing. It has been cleared out, a good half of it's been cleared out already.
00:20There's still a lot of work to go.
00:23The front bedroom there is just piled up with beer cans and rubbish.
00:28Just a complete mess at the end of the day.
00:31How did this all come to be?
00:33Just somebody from work, a supposed friend who was seemingly down on his luck so I helped him out.
00:41It was going to be for a short spell.
00:43Ended up being seven years with excuse after excuse to stay there.
00:49Basically it was paid for him and it doesn't say really.
00:54How do you feel about all this?
00:57Bad. Guilty for allowing it to happen. Should have seen what was coming but when it happened it was a bit too late then.
01:07And for allowing it to go on. Something should have been done but it hasn't been.
01:12Now he's gone we've just got a complete mess to have to clear up now and deal with.
01:18How are your family taking it?
01:21Pretty well considered. My wife was upset to start with when she did see it.
01:28When she came down but no she's accepted that what's done is done.
01:32Have you thought about what you'd like to do with the flat provided you get it cleaned?
01:44Well I don't think she won't be keeping it. It was bought for the daughter anyway some years ago.
02:00For her to live in and now we wouldn't trust anybody anyway so when it's gone it'll done it'll be good.
02:10I think she can get rid of it and do that yeah.
02:14Yeah.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Yeah.
02:18Yeah.
