00:00Hi Sasa Girl!
00:05Hello girls! Good to see you again!
00:07I miss you madam!
00:10Hello, how are you?
00:12I'm really glad that Madam is featured on the show.
00:16It was a very popular show at KMJS.
00:19And I'm really glad that I didn't have featured as high option.
00:24I'm also a gay person.
00:26I'm really good, Sasa Girl.
00:28There are a lot of new people who are endangered.
00:32It's so good.
00:34Madam, hello!
00:36Hello!
00:38The legendary, of course.
00:40We've been teaching it to Madam.
00:42You've been teaching?
00:44Why?
00:45Why?
00:46She has a lot of influence in the industry.
00:49Especially the way she reports.
00:52Of course, she gives the truth to our audience.
00:56How are you?
01:00I'm good.
01:01It's my 40th year this year.
01:04So, dun sa 75 years ng GMA, 40 yung covered ko.
01:10Wow!
01:11Kasi I started working in GMA in 1985.
01:14So, ikka-40th year ko na to.
01:16And I'm happy and honored to have witnessed so much.
01:20Ang laki nung in expand ng GMA through the years.
01:26Ang dami nang nangyari.
01:28So, I'm also privileged to have witnessed so much history.
01:32But at the same time, I'd also like to pay tribute dun sa mga pioneer ng GMA News.
01:38Of course.
01:39Of course.
01:40Kasi sila talaga yung nagtatag ng aming news organization.
01:45Ang ganda nung history actually eh.
01:48So, if you'd care to listen, yung mga bata alam ko medyo pag-history na ah.
01:52Hindi.
01:53Interesado sila dito.
01:54Pero alam nyo, ang umpisa ng GMA was something like may mga nawalan ng trabaho sa ABS-CBN during martial law.
02:03Nagsara yung ABS-CBN for the first time.
02:08And then, so there was this bunch of former newsmen nawalan trabaho.
02:14And they thought, one day, bili tayo ng airtime. Mag-block time tayo sa GMA.
02:19So, they bought airtime and that was how GMA News was born.
02:24Kasi nung araw daw, ang kwento sa amin, si Uncle Bob would just grab the newspaper and read the news.
02:30Okay.
02:34Until this bunch of newsmen thought of buying black time in GMA and put up GMA News.
02:40So, until na-absorb na sila ng network.
02:43So, we really owe them our legs and our wings, itong mga pioneer ng GMA News.
02:50And of course, syempre, thank you din sa talaga namang passion ng pag-servisyo at pag lahat ng katotohanan sa mga.
02:57Yes. Yung values namin ngayon, we cannot claim credit for that.
03:01Because as you know, Martin, everything in news and public affairs is teamwork.
03:06Hindi pwedeng i-claim ng isang tao yan.
03:09Exactly.
03:10So, yung values namin ngayon, we owe that to the pioneers.
03:14Yung fairness, yung balance, responsible news coverage and reporting.
03:21Of course, accuracy, vital yun.
03:24Lahat siyan, minana namin from our pioneers.
03:27So, yun.
03:29And briefly, if I could mention all their names,
03:32Mr. Tony Seva, Tina Monzon Palma, Ray Vidal, June Bautista, Tony Lozano,
03:38si Mang Vic, our director, si Tata Steve Serna,
04:09So, nasisenti lang ako kasi it's the 75th year of GMA.
04:14So, I'd like to pay homage and tribute dun sa mga nakasama namin through the years.
04:20Ma'am Jess, you mentioned this is your 40th anniversary here.
04:24Napakaraming mong napagdaanan.
04:26Meron ka bang memorable moment, memorable coverage
04:29na mapipick out mo dyan na talagang favorite ko to?
04:33Hindi ko makakalimutan to.
04:34Hindi ko makakalimutan, Martin. Unfortunately, yung mga masasama.
04:38Uy! Okay.
04:39Yung mga buwis-buhay na coverage namin.
04:41Correct.
04:42And how we survived to tell the story, diba?
04:45Wow.
04:46We survived a landmine in explosion in Afghanistan.
04:50Laging pinapalatas tas yan.
04:52We survived going to the Spratlys.
04:55At the time na wala pang masyadong alam yung mga kababayan natin kung nasan ba yung Spratlys.
05:02We rode a small Air Force airplane.
05:06And then, hindi nahanap yung Pag-asa Island, the biggest island na kiniklaim ng Pilipinas.
05:12And then, we returned back.
05:15We were supposed to go back to Puerto Princesa, pero naligaw yung aming aeroplano.
05:23In the meantime, we were given up for dead in Manila.
05:26And my office mates were already preparing our obituaries.
05:30And our relatives had been told.
05:32And they were already praying for us.
05:34But fortunately, by some miracle, our pilot found a small island
05:42where he managed to land the plane with very little fuel.
05:47So, pag land nung aeroplano, bug. Tumigil na.
05:52Wala na siyang gasolina. Konti na lang.
05:55So, that's the story of yung adventure namin or misadventure namin sa Spratlys.
06:01And so many others.
06:03I also covered yung kaguluhan dati in Israel
06:07when there was some conflict in Bethlehem, which is very ironic
06:15Hanggang ngayon, walang katahimikan doon.
06:23And from 85 until before year 2000.
06:30Ang daming ko attempts noon.
06:32Sunod-sunod.
06:33And I was covering the defense and military.
06:35And those were really very dangerous days.
06:38But thank God, we survived everything.
06:41So, nandito ko na ikukwento ko sa inyo.
06:44Yeah.
06:45So, lessons in history.
06:51Unfortunately, Ma'am Jess, we have to wrap it up.
06:53But just on a final note here, how proud are you of GMA News first off, that it got to where it is right now?
07:02I'm wearing it.
07:03You're wearing it?
07:04Yes.
07:05Exactly.
07:06This is GMA News.
07:07And that you're part of the 75th anniversary.
07:08Yes.
07:09It says,
07:10Oh, ano?
07:11Walang kinikilingan, walang pinoprotektahan, servisyong totoo lamang.
07:18Wow.
07:19So, I wear my belief.
07:22Si Ma'am Jess lang.
07:23Ang nakapag-customize niyan kay Mr. Garin Ma.
07:27O, hindi ka mo naman.
07:28I paid for this, ha.
07:29Kaya, napadesign ko yung gusto ko.
07:33The old logo, di ba?
07:35With some...
07:36O, yung building din.
07:37Oh, yung building.
07:38Wow.
07:39See?
07:40Okay.
07:41Ma'am Jess, thank you so much.
