09:17I don't know.
09:19My family's defended the Alliance since it was founded.
09:21My father, grandfather, great-grandmother, they all picked up a rifle and swore the oath of service.
09:27I guess we just tend to think of Earth centrists as our own.
09:31It doesn't sound like you've worked with aliens before.
09:35No, sir.
09:36Mainly I've been ground side, part of the service garrison forces.
09:39I did get a rotation on a space station for training.
09:42Every Marine a rifleman, every rifleman ZG certified.
09:49That's odd.
09:50Your record is spotless and your technical scores are exemplary.
09:53You should be serving with the fleet.
09:55Anyway, that's why I haven't served with many aliens, commander.
10:01I come from a military family, too.
10:03My parents were both navy.
10:04Anybody in your family we might know?
10:06Couldn't say, commander.
10:08We probably have a lot in common.
10:10You join up to carry on the tradition?
10:14Mainly I wanted to serve.
10:16Protect the Alliance, save lives, you know.
10:19Glad to hear it.
10:20I'd hate to think you were out here for a free college education.
10:23All right, I can see where your concerns are coming from, Williams.
10:34But this is a multilateral mission.
10:36You're going to have to work with aliens, like it or not.
10:39It won't be a problem, commander.
10:41You say jump, I say how high.
10:43You tell me to kiss a Torian, I'll ask which cheek.
10:46Would you kiss anyone I ordered you to?
10:50That depends, sir.
10:52If you ordered me to kiss a superior officer,
10:54that would be a violation of the regs concerning fraternization.
10:57That would make it an illegal order.
10:59I'd be required to decline and relieve you of command.
11:03Sir.
11:04We'll talk later, Williams.
11:08Looking forward to it, sir.
11:10Hey, commander, you know that quarry in Tally?
11:34She's been spending all her time down here asking me about our engines.
11:37I'll tell her to leave you alone.
11:39What? No, she's amazing.
11:41I wish my guys were half as smart as she is.
11:44Give her a month on board and she'll know more about our engines than I do.
11:47She's got a real knack for technology, that one.
11:50I can see why you wanted her to come along.
11:54I figured she'd be a real asset to the team.
11:56You've got an eye for Tally, commander.
11:58But I'm guessing that's not why you came down here.
12:01Fill me in on the IES stealth systems.
12:03How does it work, exactly?
12:05You can't hide a ship out in space.
12:07They emit too much heat and radiation.
12:09Too easy for sensors to pick them up.
12:11Unless you find a way to capture those emissions.
12:13So our stealth systems trap the energy we give off in storage sinks built into the ship itself.
12:18No emissions to give away our location.
12:20Eventually the sinks have to be vented.
12:22More than a few hours silent running and they overheat, cook us inside our own hull.
12:28There's no way for anyone to detect us?
12:31A visual scan can still pick us up.
12:33Anyone looking out a window can see us plain as day.
12:35But you have to be pretty close to get an actual visual out in space.
12:39Most vessels rely on scanners.
12:41As long as the stealth systems are engaged, they can't see us.
12:44Not unless we accelerate to FTL speeds.
12:47Why doesn't it work with faster than light travel?
12:49Cranking up the FTL, blue shifts our emissions.
12:52Pushes them into frequencies too high to capture in the sinks.
12:55As soon as we make the jump, it's like setting off a flare.
12:58Sensors can pick up our location whenever we enter or exit FTL flight.
13:02But for short range missions, our stealth systems are amazing.
13:05And we've got the only one.
13:09Where else have you served, Adams?
13:11If you name a class of Alliance ship, I've probably served on it.
13:14Everything from dreadnoughts and carriers, right down to frigates like the Normandy.
13:18My last assignment was on the Tokyo.
13:20Only a cruiser, but she was a good ship.
13:23Couldn't hold a candle to the Normandy though.
13:26I want to know more about the Normandy.
13:28She's the best ship I've ever served on.
13:30Probably the fastest vessel ever designed.
13:33If she's the only one using the new Tantalus Drive Corps.
13:36What's so special about the Tantalus Drive Corps?
13:39Proportionally, it's about twice the size of any other vessel.
13:42Not only are we faster, but we can run at FTL speeds longer before we have to discharge the Corps.
13:49Carry on, Adams.
13:51Aye aye, Commander.
14:00Shepard, I need to talk to you. It's important.
14:04Something wrong?
14:05You know the data you took from those Geth control nodes? The information you uploaded to Alliance control? I want a copy of it.
14:14You want to bring this data back to the Migrant fleet?
14:17Those files have information that could be vital to our efforts to understand the Geth. It could be the key to helping us reclaim our homeworld.
14:27If I give you this data, your pilgrimage is over. You'll go back to your own people.
14:32Not right away. I'll stay with you as long as it takes to stop Seren. But my people need this.
14:40You think you can use this information to destroy your enemy?
14:43Not right away. We will need to study it. It could take years, but it will give us new insight into how the Geth have changed and evolved over the past centuries.
14:53Go ahead. Make a copy.
14:55My people, I, owe you a great debt. One I can never repay. The only thing I can offer in return is what you already have. My solemn promise to stay with you until Seren and his Geth armies are defeated.
15:12I never wanted anything more.
15:14Thank you, Shepard.
15:25Thank you, Shepard.
15:55Transmission coming in, Commander. I think you're going to want to hear this one.
16:00Greetings, Commander Shepard. I represent a party interested in obtaining information on Cerberus activities.
16:07Who are you and who do you represent?
16:09Who I am is inconsequential. Suffice to say, I am an agent for the Shadow Broker.
16:15You see, Admiral Cahoku contacted my employer looking for information on the location of any Cerberus facilities.
16:22We provided that information on the promise that he would turn over copies of all files gathered from the Cerberus systems to us.
16:31Did you have anything to do with Admiral Cahoku ending up dead?
16:34We had no reason to harm him. He was going to provide us with information about Cerberus. Information that is now in your possession.
16:42You must have some connection to Cerberus. How else could you tell Cahoku where to find them?
16:47Information is our business, Commander.
16:49To our contacts, we were able to determine that the Cerberus group was active in the Voyager cluster.
16:55Unfortunately, that was all we were able to find out.
16:58That is why we are so interested in acquiring copies of the files from you.
17:02These are classified Alliance files. I'm not handing them over to you.
17:06Be reasonable, Commander. Cerberus was operating outside Alliance jurisdiction. You don't know them any loyalty.
17:12The Alliance is just going to file this information away in some archive. No secret stays hidden forever. Eventually, someone somewhere will deliver it to our hands.
17:22Might as well be you. Transmit the files to us and you will be well compensated.
17:28What are you going to do with this information?
17:32Information is a commodity. It can be bought, sold or traded. Why my employer desires this information is not my concern. I am only the buyer.
17:42I'll transmit the files. I knew you were a reasonable man, Commander. My employer will remember this the next time you need something from us.
17:52The next video is the entire video. I will transmit the files in the comments.
17:58See you!
18:00We'll see you!
19:33Patch it through.
19:35Commander, we've got a situation that requires your expertise.
19:39A group of fanatical biotics have kidnapped the chairman of the Parliament's subcommittee on transhuman studies.
19:45Their freighter sustained damage and is dead in space.
19:49Get in there and take them down.
19:51What kind of resistance should I expect?
19:54The biotics were seen loading equipment into the freighter.
19:57Expect traps and combat drones.
19:59Nothing you can't handle.
20:02What are the biotics asking for?
20:04They're L2 biotics, and most of them are suffering major side effects from the implants.
20:08The subcommittee denied a request for reparations to all L2 biotics.
20:16Apparently, they'd like the chairman to reconsider.
