00:00:00All right. Hello friends, I'm Pastor Joe Lasswell. I welcome you to our study here at this time.
00:00:15I'm thankful you're joining us. I praise the Lord that you're joining us.
00:00:19I hope that you've been learning quite a lot. I've been learning some new things.
00:00:24You always learn something when you open God's Word. God has promised that to lead us into all truth.
00:00:32And so we trust Him that He's doing that.
00:00:36And so we want to ask and thank the Lord for the Holy Spirit who helps us to discern these things.
00:00:45And so we want to ask for His help to continue as we get back into Daniel chapter 8, the desolator.
00:00:53We're looking at this desolator in Daniel 8, this little horn who desolates the sanctuary of the prince and his host.
00:01:03And so we want to learn exactly what that means.
00:01:06And God has promised to share what that means with us.
00:01:10But before we dig back into it, let's ask our Father in Heaven to bless us as we open His Word this morning.
00:01:16Let's kneel if possible or bow our heads together in our hearts, which is probably more important.
00:01:23And so let's pray.
00:01:25Father in Heaven, we do thank Thee for this time that we have together here.
00:01:30And open Your Word.
00:01:32We thank You that You provided it and protected it all through time.
00:01:36So that we can study it, read it, learn from it, and hopefully with Your grace and strength and the Holy Spirit change us more and more into the image of our dear Savior Jesus.
00:01:55So we may have His character, which is what He came here to show us was possible.
00:02:00Showing that the devil's claims about Your character are completely false.
00:02:07And so Father, we pray for the Holy Spirit to be poured out upon all of us who are opening Your Word here on this most holy Sabbath day.
00:02:15And those who are seeking truth.
00:02:17We pray that the Holy Spirit will help them and guide them and us.
00:02:21Help us to discern these things and to grow in grace.
00:02:27We thank You so much for Jesus.
00:02:30Jesus, who came to this earth, became one of us for eternity.
00:02:34What an incredible thought to contemplate.
00:02:38And then He showed us not only what sin is and what your true character of love is, but how to live a righteous life.
00:02:48He didn't just die for our sins, but He lived a righteous life as an example to each and every one of us.
00:02:57That we don't have to live a life stuck in the gutter of sin.
00:03:00But we can have victory over it through Him.
00:03:03We praise You for that.
00:03:05We praise You for protecting us from the evil one and from evil angels.
00:03:10And for being very near to those who are suffering and helping them to have peace of heart.
00:03:19Father, we pray this morning that You will continue to be with those who are suffering through these tragedies that are happening throughout our country and around the world.
00:03:28And please be very near our brethren in other countries who are suffering severe persecution.
00:03:34We pray that hearts may see this evil and come to know Thee and be saved.
00:03:41Lord, please forgive us our sins.
00:03:44We claim the blood of Jesus that was shed there at Calvary for us.
00:03:48And help us to know these things that we read and study here in Daniel chapter 8.
00:03:53Please give me the words to speak this morning, Lord.
00:03:56May they touch hearts.
00:03:57Prepare hearts for these things.
00:03:59Some of these things are new to people.
00:04:02Help them to have a right understanding.
00:04:04I ask these favors in the name of Jesus who is so worthy.
00:04:10Amen and Amen.
00:04:15Well, we are in a series that I have entitled The Desolator.
00:04:21It's a study of Daniel chapter 8.
00:04:25Our study of Daniel chapter 7, you recall, I called that the Great Pretender.
00:04:32I think that was what I called it.
00:04:35The Bold Pretender.
00:04:36That was it.
00:04:36The Bold Pretender.
00:04:37And we're talking about the little horn.
00:04:39He was the Bold Pretender in Daniel chapter 7.
00:04:42We come into Daniel chapter 8 and we find this same little horn.
00:04:45And now he becomes not just the Bold Pretender.
00:04:49He is the Desolator.
00:04:51The Desolator.
00:04:53And so, as we begin looking at Daniel chapter 8 and verses 11 and 12 here,
00:05:02I want to cover again what we learned in episode number 7.
00:05:06Our last study together.
00:05:08Let's refresh our minds because it's a continual.
00:05:12We talk about the continual.
00:05:14The daily.
00:05:16Right?
00:05:16Or it's a continual study into God's word.
00:05:19Amen?
00:05:20And so, let's refresh our minds.
00:05:22What did we learn the last time we were together?
00:05:25Well, we learned that the Prince's sanctuary is in the literal heavenly temple
00:05:29and in his spiritual church on earth, didn't we?
00:05:33Which consists of those who keep the Ten Commandments of God,
00:05:36who exercise the faith of Jesus,
00:05:38and they have the spirit of prophecy.
00:05:40We learned that Jesus ministers in two places at the same time.
00:05:48Physically in heaven and spiritually on earth through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
00:05:54His heavenly hosts are the angels, we learned, haven't we?
00:05:57And his earthly hosts are his faithful followers.
00:06:00Again, those who have faith in Jesus, the faith of Jesus, and keep his commandments.
00:06:06We learned that the place of the sanctuary is removed from heaven in a spiritual sense.
00:06:13You know, the little horn and Satan didn't go up to heaven
00:06:16and tear down the actual sanctuary that's in heaven.
00:06:20We're talking here about a spiritual battle.
00:06:23And so, this place of the sanctuary is removed from heaven in a spiritual sense.
00:06:28It's set up on earth by papal Rome,
00:06:30who we have abundant evidence and have laid out that is papal Rome.
00:06:36The little horn is papal Rome.
00:06:38We've learned that morning and evening,
00:06:40a lamb was offered upon the altar of sacrifice for the sins of Israel.
00:06:43We were looking at the sanctuary and the implements in the courtyard
00:06:49in the first room called the Holy Place.
00:06:56And so, we were starting to look at that,
00:06:59and we saw a morning and evening lamb was offered upon the altar of sacrifice
00:07:02in the courtyard for the sins of Israel.
00:07:05As long as the Hebrew sanctuary and temple stood,
00:07:09there was never a time when the fire of the altar was not burning.
00:07:13It was continual.
00:07:14This was the daily or continual burnt offering.
00:07:17We covered a bit of that.
00:07:18We learned that the sacrifice of the lamb represented the death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
00:07:24an atonement that is valid for God's people continually.
00:07:30We know that, we read the Gospels,
00:07:32you look at John chapter 1, verse 29,
00:07:351 Peter 1.19, Revelation 13.8 tells us this.
00:07:40We learned that the sacrifice was offered daily,
00:07:43continually, morning and evening.
00:07:45And it indicates that Jesus died once and for all
00:07:48and never needs to die again.
00:07:49His death was sufficient.
00:07:51One time, to forgive sins.
00:07:58Praise His name.
00:08:01Praise His name.
00:08:03He never needs to die again, friends.
00:08:06And we learned that the teaching of the once-for-all death of Jesus
00:08:10is counterfeited in the Roman Catholic sacrifice of the Mass.
00:08:14In the Mass, the once-for-all sacrifice,
00:08:17the death of Jesus,
00:08:17is repeated over and over and over and over and over again.
00:08:21And so, you see, instead of looking to the Lamb of God in heaven,
00:08:26Roman Catholic believers are taught to look at the wafer host,
00:08:30or the body of Jesus, in its totality.
00:08:32And it's called ubiquity, or the omnipresence.
00:08:37But that's where it's supposedly found.
00:08:39So, instead of coming boldly to Jesus at the throne of grace in heaven,
00:08:43believers are taught that they must be nourished by feeding on the literal body of Jesus on earth
00:08:49every time they partake of the Catholic Mass to receive forgiveness.
00:08:53We learned that the table of the showbread contained two stacks of unleavened bread,
00:09:01each with six loaves,
00:09:04twelve loaves of bread in total.
00:09:06And by this, God wanted to teach that there was sufficient bread to feed each and every one of the twelve tribes of Israel.
00:09:12This bread was called the continual bread,
00:09:20Tamed, that Hebrew word Tamed,
00:09:25because it was available continually to satisfy the spiritual needs as well of Israel.
00:09:30And so we learned also that the showbread first represents Jesus as he's contained in the written word of God.
00:09:40We learned also that the showbread is continually available to all the word of God,
00:09:46is continually available to all Jesus, all of God's people, all people.
00:09:50We learned that if you assimilate the word of God,
00:09:54it will nourish the life spiritually,
00:09:56leading to character growth and victory over sin.
00:10:01But what about Roman Catholicism?
00:10:04The counterfeit to the showbread.
00:10:06Well, we learned that they substituted tradition,
00:10:09the traditions of men for the word of God.
00:10:12In other words, they put the traditions of men over Jesus.
00:10:16And not just the traditions of men.
00:10:19The example of traditions of men is the Pope.
00:10:22So they placed the Pope over Jesus, essentially.
00:10:25But tradition over the word of God.
00:10:26We learned that last time.
00:10:27We learned that they removed the Bible.
00:10:30They essentially have removed Jesus from all the people.
00:10:33And this kind of, in a way, touches on the daily being a substitute
00:10:38and removing the continual instead of paganism.
00:10:42But I don't want to get into that.
00:10:44But they removed the Bible, Jesus, from all the people.
00:10:47It was no longer accessible, see?
00:10:49And Jesus, then, is no longer accessible for forgiveness of sin.
00:10:53A little bit more about that in just a moment.
00:10:56We also learned that they taught by these traditions that we're born sinners.
00:11:04And that no conversion is necessary.
00:11:06It's not even possible, really.
00:11:08As sinners can't overcome sin.
00:11:11But Jesus showed us we can, you see.
00:11:14But they say that and teach that you just need to confess sins continually, see?
00:11:22Continually to a priest.
00:11:24And again, with the showbread, we learned that the number, there were a number of unbiblical traditions in the Catholic Church.
00:11:33And that it's just hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of these traditions.
00:11:39Many of them pulled from paganism.
00:11:42Such as, and I shared some, purgatory, limbo, celibacy, confession, and eternally burning hell.
00:11:48That's not biblical.
00:11:49Lent, the mass, canonization of saints, the rosary, bowing before images, the immaculate conception, the assumption of Mary, baptism of infants,
00:12:01for they've even got their mind developed enough to make a decision, praying to saints, the observance of the Sunday, and on and on and on and on and on.
00:12:14That's what we learned from looking at the table of showbread, and the showbread specifically.
00:12:23We learned that one of the tasks of the high priest was to trim the wicks and replenish the oil in the seven-branched candlestick of the holy place.
00:12:31And in this way, he would make sure that the light of the candlestick burned, how long?
00:12:36Tamed, continually.
00:12:38The seven-branched candlestick represented all seven stages in the history of the Christian church,
00:12:46from the days of the apostles to the end of time.
00:12:50That's what we learned in our study in episode 7.
00:12:53We learned that papal Rome claims to be the mother church,
00:12:58and actually persecuted the true candlestick.
00:13:02Remember, we found out who the host and the stars of the prince were.
00:13:05It's the people and the leaders of the church.
00:13:07And the mother church of papal Rome persecuted God's candlestick
00:13:13and usurped Christ with a pope to stand in the midst of God's people as Savior.
00:13:20We looked at Revelation 1 for that.
00:13:24We learned that the incense upon the altar represent...
00:13:27that that incense that was offered upon the altar was called the perpetual Talmud, I'm sorry,
00:13:35because it was burned on the altar morning and evening continually.
00:13:42And that that incense upon the altar represented the prayers of God's people,
00:13:46which are mingled with the precious merits of Christ's blood.
00:13:51And then we learned, as we closed up the episode,
00:13:57that Roman Catholicism had established...
00:14:00And we learned this too as we went through our study of Daniel chapter 7,
00:14:04that they, in great detail actually,
00:14:07established a counterfeit priesthood
00:14:09to whom the faithful confessed their sins.
00:14:13That's to say,
00:14:15instead of people directing their prayers to Jesus in heaven for forgiveness,
00:14:18they utter them to a human priest on earth
00:14:21who actually cannot forgive sins.
00:14:25And in this way,
00:14:26the intercessory ministry of Jesus is cast down from heaven
00:14:30and placed on earth.
00:14:33We learned quite a lot last time.
00:14:35And we're going to continue to learn more and more and more.
00:14:40Let's now dig into Daniel 8 and verse 12.
00:14:45We'll start by reading it.
00:14:46Daniel 8 and verse 12.
00:14:49And it says,
00:14:50And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice.
00:14:54Again, that word sacrifice is added.
00:14:57By reason of transgression.
00:14:59We'll find out what that means.
00:15:01And it cast down the truth to the ground.
00:15:03We'll find out what that means.
00:15:04And it practiced and prospered amazingly.
00:15:09That's Daniel 8 and verse 12.
00:15:11Imagine Daniel seeing all this in vision.
00:15:14Imagine if you were seeing it.
00:15:15Wouldn't you be astonished at what you're seeing?
00:15:18And so,
00:15:21we previously found that the prince has his host.
00:15:25And now we discover here in verse 12
00:15:27that the little horn is also given a host
00:15:29to war against the daily.
00:15:32So, the battle is between
00:15:34the prince and his host
00:15:35and the little horn and his host.
00:15:39And a comparison,
00:15:40and I'm going to get to this in just a moment.
00:15:43But if you see a comparison of verse 12 here
00:15:47with Daniel chapter 11 and verse 31,
00:15:51you'll find that it clearly indicates
00:15:54that the little horn's host
00:15:55is composed of his armies,
00:15:57which is the secular power,
00:15:59the civil sword, you remember,
00:16:01who are also members of his church, by the way.
00:16:04The papacy is a church state power, isn't it?
00:16:07Now, you do know that during the Reformation
00:16:10and papal Rome has not changed.
00:16:14No matter what Protestants say today,
00:16:17papacy, all they need to do is get back into power
00:16:20and they're right back to that same character
00:16:22and persecuting the truth in God's people.
00:16:27But during the Reformation,
00:16:30kings that were Protestants
00:16:31were removed from membership
00:16:33of the Roman Catholic Church.
00:16:34They were considered anathema.
00:16:37That means they were cursed by the church
00:16:39and then they were excommunicated.
00:16:41I remember even sharing about King Henry
00:16:45about that in our study of Daniel chapter 7.
00:16:51Now, some scholars in Adventism
00:16:52teach that the host of the little horn
00:16:55is the Roman Catholic clergy.
00:16:59But friends, that doesn't line up with Scripture.
00:17:01For one thing, the clergy is not really a host
00:17:04that is given to him.
00:17:07And second, it limits the papacy
00:17:09to just having one sword
00:17:10and not two swords.
00:17:12The church state.
00:17:14If it were speaking about the clergy,
00:17:16it would limit this battle
00:17:16to just a theological one.
00:17:19And Sunday worship would remain a church law
00:17:21with no civil enforcement at all.
00:17:23Kind of like it is right now.
00:17:26So we've got to put our thinking caps on.
00:17:28Come let us reason together,
00:17:31we see in Isaiah chapter 1.
00:17:34God is saying,
00:17:35I've given you a brain.
00:17:37I want to communicate with you.
00:17:39Let's reason these things together.
00:17:42Let me help you understand.
00:17:44Right?
00:17:46Now, the Bible tells us
00:17:48in Revelation 13 and verse 15
00:17:50that the two-horned beast,
00:17:52which is the United States of America,
00:17:54would enforce the Sunday law.
00:17:57Let's read that.
00:17:58Revelation 13, verse 15.
00:18:00And he had power to give life
00:18:02unto the image of the beast,
00:18:05that the image of the beast should,
00:18:07listen to this,
00:18:08both speak,
00:18:09that means enact laws,
00:18:13and cause,
00:18:14and that means enforce these laws,
00:18:18that as many as would not worship
00:18:20the image of the beast
00:18:23should be killed.
00:18:27This is actually,
00:18:29this is the end time scenario
00:18:31that we studied in Daniel chapter 3.
00:18:34What happened there on the plains of Dora?
00:18:38If you recall.
00:18:39Now,
00:18:40I said we're going to compare this,
00:18:42Daniel 8, 12,
00:18:43with Daniel 11, verse 31.
00:18:44And let's look at
00:18:45Daniel 11, 31,
00:18:48which helps clear up
00:18:49any possible confusion
00:18:51about Daniel 8, 12.
00:18:54Let's read this.
00:18:54Daniel 11, verse 31.
00:18:57The Bible says,
00:18:58And arms shall stand on his part,
00:19:01and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength,
00:19:05and shall take away the daily,
00:19:07again, sacrifices added,
00:19:09and they shall place the abomination
00:19:12that maketh desolate.
00:19:14It's very interesting.
00:19:18And when you get into Daniel 11,
00:19:19I'm talking about the king of the north.
00:19:21Well, who's this king of the north?
00:19:24Some people think it's some,
00:19:27well, there's all kinds of theories about that,
00:19:29but what does the Bible lay out?
00:19:30Remember, when we're looking through Daniel,
00:19:32each chapter kind of builds on the other.
00:19:35We get more and more information,
00:19:37don't we?
00:19:37And so,
00:19:39let's first identify
00:19:41the king of the north,
00:19:43which is a must.
00:19:46And I'll get more in depth about this, of course,
00:19:48when we get into our study of Daniel chapter 11.
00:19:53But the Bible clearly teaches
00:19:54that the true king of the north
00:19:56is God,
00:19:58who dwells on Mount Zion
00:19:59in the heavenly Jerusalem.
00:20:01You can read that in Isaiah 14,
00:20:03Psalm 48,
00:20:04Matthew 5,
00:20:06you even find out,
00:20:07read verses 35 and 36.
00:20:10We know that thousands of years ago,
00:20:13Satan attempted to overthrow God
00:20:16and usurp his throne in heaven.
00:20:19But he failed.
00:20:20And he was cast out to the earth.
00:20:24Consequently,
00:20:25Satan succeeded in causing Adam to sin,
00:20:29and then he set up a rival kingdom on the earth.
00:20:31And we know that.
00:20:32We've read that in the Bible.
00:20:34And in this way,
00:20:37Satan became
00:20:38the counterfeit king of the north.
00:20:41And he was wanting to usurp
00:20:42the legitimate position of God,
00:20:44you see.
00:20:45As God sits in the
00:20:47heavenly Jerusalem temple
00:20:49in the sides of the north,
00:20:50Satan sits in the earthly temple
00:20:53in the sides of the symbolic north,
00:20:56planting a counterfeit religion in the church.
00:20:59Now, the north is not a denial of God and religion,
00:21:03but rather the establishment of a false god
00:21:06and a false religion.
00:21:10According to Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2,
00:21:12verse 3 and 4,
00:21:14God's kingdom
00:21:15is called Israel.
00:21:17Now, what is Satan's kingdom called?
00:21:22Well, it's called Babylon, right?
00:21:25But there's more.
00:21:28We know that God, the Father,
00:21:30has his vicar.
00:21:31That's Jesus.
00:21:33Satan also has his vicar, right?
00:21:35That's the Pope.
00:21:37Thus, the two invisible champions,
00:21:39you could say,
00:21:40of good and evil,
00:21:41God and Satan,
00:21:42have their respective earthly representatives.
00:21:48Jesus not only, friends,
00:21:50represents his Father in heaven,
00:21:53but he also represents
00:21:55his people as well.
00:21:59Now,
00:22:00and we can praise his name for that.
00:22:03Territorially speaking,
00:22:05Jerusalem,
00:22:07in the sides of the north,
00:22:09was God's holy sea
00:22:11in the Old Testament, right?
00:22:14I mean, there,
00:22:15David and all his successors
00:22:17sat as types of Jesus,
00:22:20the King of Kings
00:22:21and the Lord of Lords.
00:22:22You can read that in Revelation 17, 14.
00:22:24Now, on the other hand,
00:22:27Satan's sea
00:22:28in the Old Testament
00:22:29was Babylon,
00:22:31the archenemy of Israel.
00:22:33And there sat
00:22:35Nebuchadnezzar,
00:22:36the counterfeit king of kings,
00:22:39according to Ezekiel 26,
00:22:4138,
00:22:4339,
00:22:44you read about it in there,
00:22:47about Nebuchadnezzar
00:22:48in this.
00:22:49As we found
00:22:50in our study of Daniel,
00:22:52Nebuchadnezzar,
00:22:53as he grew older,
00:22:54repented
00:22:54and came to be
00:22:55a follower
00:22:56of the true God.
00:22:58Praise God for that.
00:22:59You know,
00:22:59one day,
00:22:59when we get to heaven,
00:23:01Jesus redeems us.
00:23:02We can meet Nebuchadnezzar.
00:23:04We can talk to him
00:23:05if we want.
00:23:06Won't that be exciting?
00:23:09Now,
00:23:10biblically,
00:23:11the kingdom of the north
00:23:13was Assyria,
00:23:14Babylon,
00:23:15because it was
00:23:15geographically north of Israel.
00:23:18And Jeremiah warned Judah
00:23:20that an evil would come
00:23:21upon them from the north.
00:23:23That was a clear
00:23:24reference to Babylon.
00:23:25And that's what happened,
00:23:26wasn't it?
00:23:28Significantly,
00:23:29the invasion of Judah
00:23:30by Nebuchadnezzar
00:23:31is described by Jeremiah
00:23:33as an all-encompassing flood.
00:23:38The flood of Babylon
00:23:40is identified
00:23:41as the river Euphrates,
00:23:44according to Jeremiah.
00:23:45You can read it also
00:23:46in Joshua 24.
00:23:48When the Assyrian king,
00:23:51Sennacherib,
00:23:52invaded Judah
00:23:53in the year 701 B.C.,
00:23:55his military campaign
00:23:57was also described
00:23:58as an overwhelming flood.
00:24:01Right?
00:24:01This is literally
00:24:02overwhelming flood.
00:24:03Isaiah tells us that.
00:24:05In Daniel 3,
00:24:06we find a clear description
00:24:07of Babylon's
00:24:08counterfeit religion.
00:24:10It seeks to impose
00:24:11by force its religion
00:24:12upon God's
00:24:13faithful people.
00:24:14Again,
00:24:15they're in the
00:24:16plains of Dura.
00:24:19Now,
00:24:20literally speaking,
00:24:21and I'm talking about
00:24:21Daniel 11,
00:24:22the king of the north
00:24:23here in Daniel 11
00:24:24is Babylon.
00:24:25and his invasion
00:24:27of the glorious land
00:24:27is compared to
00:24:28an overwhelming flood,
00:24:30according to Daniel 11,
00:24:3140.
00:24:34Symbolically,
00:24:35however,
00:24:36the king of the north
00:24:38represents the papacy.
00:24:42Think about this.
00:24:45It represents the papacy,
00:24:47which will employ
00:24:48a flood of multitudes,
00:24:51nations,
00:24:51tongues,
00:24:52and people.
00:24:53And you read about it
00:24:55in Revelation 17,
00:24:56right?
00:24:58So the papacy does this
00:24:59to attempt to overwhelm
00:25:01the end-time remnant church.
00:25:04Now,
00:25:04for several reasons,
00:25:06the king of the north
00:25:07represents the same power
00:25:08as the little horn
00:25:09here in Daniel 8.
00:25:12And we're looking at
00:25:13comparing here,
00:25:14Daniel 8, 12,
00:25:15here with Daniel 11,
00:25:16verse 31.
00:25:17Now,
00:25:18besides the fact that
00:25:19both the little horn
00:25:20and the king of the north
00:25:21follow media,
00:25:21and Persia in the
00:25:23prophetic chain,
00:25:24there are four other
00:25:25close parallels
00:25:27between the king of the north
00:25:28in this verse,
00:25:29verse 31,
00:25:30and the little horn
00:25:31in Daniel 8.
00:25:33And as we've learned,
00:25:35the little horn of Daniel 8
00:25:36represents the Roman
00:25:37Catholic papacy.
00:25:38It's the same little horn
00:25:39power in Daniel 7.
00:25:42Now,
00:25:42this being the case,
00:25:44the king of the north
00:25:45in Daniel 11
00:25:45must represent
00:25:46the same power.
00:25:47So let's take a look
00:25:49at the four parallels
00:25:50from Daniel 11
00:25:51and verse 31.
00:25:52Let's read here
00:25:53this part.
00:25:55Daniel 11,
00:25:56verse 31.
00:25:56It says,
00:25:57And arms shall stand
00:25:58on his part.
00:26:01That's what it says.
00:26:01And arms shall stand
00:26:02on his part.
00:26:05Regarding the words arms,
00:26:07Walter C. Kaiser
00:26:08makes this remark
00:26:09in his Theological Word Book
00:26:11of the Old Testament,
00:26:12volume 1,
00:26:13pages 253 to 254.
00:26:15Notice what Kaiser says.
00:26:16He says,
00:26:17In the plural,
00:26:19arms is equivalent
00:26:21to military
00:26:22or political forces
00:26:24or armies.
00:26:27It says,
00:26:27And arms shall stand
00:26:28on his part.
00:26:30This means that
00:26:31the king of the north
00:26:32would be helped
00:26:32by the forces
00:26:33of a political power.
00:26:36And this actually
00:26:37reminds me
00:26:38of the union
00:26:39of iron and clay
00:26:40that we saw
00:26:41in the feet of the image
00:26:42there in Daniel 2.
00:26:44Right?
00:26:44Church state?
00:26:47Civil?
00:26:48Religious?
00:26:50I'm also reminded
00:26:51that the little horn
00:26:52would arise
00:26:53but not by his own power
00:26:54which you read
00:26:55in Daniel 8,
00:26:56verse 24.
00:26:58Which again removes
00:27:00the theory
00:27:00that the arms
00:27:01represent just
00:27:02the papal clergy.
00:27:04I just can't see
00:27:04how they can come
00:27:05to that conclusion.
00:27:07Well, I can.
00:27:08But we don't need
00:27:08to get down
00:27:09that tangent.
00:27:10Revelation chapter 13
00:27:12and 10
00:27:12presents the same scenario.
00:27:15The beast used
00:27:16the sword
00:27:17to slay the saints
00:27:18and the same sword
00:27:19would slay him.
00:27:22And significant
00:27:23is the fact
00:27:24that the king
00:27:24of the north
00:27:25existed before
00:27:26this point
00:27:26but without
00:27:28the aid of arms.
00:27:30Paul tells us
00:27:31that in 2 Thessalonians 2.
00:27:33He underlines
00:27:33that the man
00:27:34of sin existed
00:27:35before the restrainer
00:27:36was removed
00:27:37and we know
00:27:38that the restrainer
00:27:39was the pagan
00:27:40Roman Empire.
00:27:41We looked at that
00:27:42a couple times
00:27:43in detail.
00:27:45This is the same
00:27:46idea that we find
00:27:48in Daniel 8.12
00:27:48where the little horn
00:27:49was given a host
00:27:50to execute
00:27:51his nefarious work
00:27:53against the sanctuary,
00:27:55against the prince,
00:27:57and the daily.
00:28:00And as we've
00:28:01previously seen,
00:28:02the word host
00:28:02in this context
00:28:03means army,
00:28:05political power.
00:28:06So what is
00:28:07pictured here
00:28:08is the union
00:28:09of the religious
00:28:10and political powers
00:28:12or the union
00:28:13of church and state,
00:28:15the two swords,
00:28:16you recall.
00:28:17Here's the second thing.
00:28:18Let's read on.
00:28:19Daniel 11,
00:28:19verse 31.
00:28:20It says,
00:28:21And they
00:28:22shall pollute
00:28:23the sanctuary
00:28:24of strength.
00:28:26I think it's
00:28:27significant here
00:28:28this change
00:28:29of pronoun
00:28:29from the singular
00:28:30to the plural.
00:28:32The pronoun
00:28:32they can be
00:28:33a reference
00:28:34to the armies
00:28:36or to the armies
00:28:37in union
00:28:38with the king
00:28:39of the north.
00:28:40I believe
00:28:41the proper context
00:28:42is the armies
00:28:43in union
00:28:43with the king
00:28:44of the north.
00:28:45In other words,
00:28:46the political power
00:28:47stands on behalf
00:28:48of the king
00:28:48of the north
00:28:49and then they
00:28:50together
00:28:50pollute
00:28:51the sanctuary.
00:28:54In what sense
00:28:56does this union
00:28:57of church and state
00:28:58pollute the sanctuary?
00:29:00Well, it's really
00:29:00interesting that the
00:29:01Hebrew word
00:29:02kalal
00:29:03means to pollute,
00:29:04to defile,
00:29:05to profane.
00:29:07So the king
00:29:08of the north
00:29:08does this.
00:29:10And we cannot
00:29:11miss that the
00:29:11little horn of
00:29:12Daniel 8 also
00:29:13tramples upon
00:29:14the sanctuary,
00:29:15the prince,
00:29:16and the host
00:29:16of the prince,
00:29:18for which reason
00:29:19the sanctuary
00:29:19must be cleansed,
00:29:20right?
00:29:22And so we see
00:29:23the parallel
00:29:23between these two.
00:29:26The third parallel,
00:29:28back to Daniel
00:29:2911,
00:29:29verse 31.
00:29:30And shall take
00:29:31away the daily
00:29:32and sacrifices
00:29:34added,
00:29:35shall take
00:29:35away the daily.
00:29:37In Daniel 8,
00:29:39the little horn
00:29:40with the help
00:29:41of a host
00:29:41that was given
00:29:42to him,
00:29:43remember,
00:29:43not by his own
00:29:43strength,
00:29:45it takes away
00:29:46the daily,
00:29:48Daniel 8.
00:29:48And Daniel 11,
00:29:49the king of the
00:29:50north,
00:29:50takes away the
00:29:50daily with the
00:29:52help of arms.
00:29:53And so it's
00:29:54clear that these
00:29:54two prophecies
00:29:55are definitely
00:29:57parallel.
00:29:57parallel.
00:29:59And let's go
00:30:00back to Daniel
00:30:0011,
00:30:01verse 31.
00:30:02Here's a
00:30:02fourth parallel.
00:30:04They,
00:30:05that's the king
00:30:06of the north
00:30:06and the forces
00:30:07that aid him,
00:30:08shall place
00:30:08the abomination
00:30:09that maketh
00:30:10desolate.
00:30:13Now this phrase
00:30:14is actually
00:30:15parallel to
00:30:16Daniel 8,
00:30:16where we're told
00:30:17that the little
00:30:18horn,
00:30:18with the aid
00:30:19of his host,
00:30:20set up the
00:30:21transgression
00:30:22of desolation.
00:30:23That's actually
00:30:24Daniel 8,
00:30:2513,
00:30:25which we're
00:30:26going to get
00:30:26to,
00:30:27I think,
00:30:27in our next
00:30:28episode.
00:30:29Now the word
00:30:31desolation there,
00:30:33Hebrew,
00:30:33is common
00:30:35in the Old
00:30:35Testament.
00:30:37It frequently
00:30:38refers to
00:30:39the trampling
00:30:41of Jerusalem
00:30:42by the
00:30:44pagan
00:30:46idolatrous
00:30:48nations,
00:30:49mainly because
00:30:50of Israel's
00:30:51unfaithfulness.
00:30:53You see,
00:30:53God's mercy
00:30:55was withdrawn
00:30:56because of
00:30:57the unfaithfulness
00:30:58of Israel,
00:30:59and so Satan
00:31:01gets a little
00:31:01bit more power
00:31:02and brings in
00:31:03idolatry,
00:31:04and we see it
00:31:04over and over
00:31:05and over again
00:31:05through the Old
00:31:06Testament.
00:31:08And so,
00:31:09we see,
00:31:11though,
00:31:11that the
00:31:11equivalent Greek
00:31:12word is used
00:31:14in Matthew 23
00:31:16and verse 38,
00:31:17where Jesus
00:31:17told the Jewish
00:31:18leaders,
00:31:18I touched on
00:31:19this last time,
00:31:20that your house
00:31:21is left unto you
00:31:22desolate.
00:31:23And also,
00:31:25in Matthew 24
00:31:26and verse 15,
00:31:27if you recall,
00:31:27where Jesus
00:31:28spoke about
00:31:28the abomination
00:31:29of desolation
00:31:31spoken of by
00:31:32Daniel the prophet.
00:31:33That's the Greek
00:31:34use of that word.
00:31:37Now,
00:31:37when you look
00:31:37at Daniel,
00:31:39excuse me,
00:31:40Matthew 24,
00:31:42it's well
00:31:43understood
00:31:44that it's a
00:31:45two-fold
00:31:45fulfillment,
00:31:46the first of
00:31:46which was the
00:31:47destruction of
00:31:48the literal
00:31:48city of Jerusalem
00:31:49because of its
00:31:51rejection of
00:31:52the Messiah,
00:31:52I mean,
00:31:54look at
00:31:54Matthew 24,
00:31:55look at
00:31:55Daniel 9,
00:31:56just read them
00:31:56and you can
00:31:58see it.
00:31:59But the second
00:32:00fulfillment,
00:32:00which carries us
00:32:01well into
00:32:02the Christian
00:32:03era,
00:32:05it's referred to
00:32:06in Luke 21
00:32:06and verse 24
00:32:07and Revelation
00:32:0811 too.
00:32:10And there we're
00:32:10told the holy
00:32:11city,
00:32:12the true church,
00:32:13shall they,
00:32:14the papacy,
00:32:14tread underfoot
00:32:15for 42 months,
00:32:16the same as
00:32:171260 years.
00:32:18And we're
00:32:23told in
00:32:24Revelation 13
00:32:24and verse 5,
00:32:27if we go
00:32:28back to there,
00:32:29we see that
00:32:29there are
00:32:30these two
00:32:30beasts,
00:32:31and we read
00:32:32in Revelation
00:32:3313 verse 5
00:32:34that the
00:32:34first beast,
00:32:35that sea beast,
00:32:37the Roman
00:32:37Catholic papacy,
00:32:40did this
00:32:40trampling when
00:32:41it allied itself
00:32:42with the
00:32:43political states
00:32:43of Europe
00:32:44from 538 A.D.
00:32:45to 1798 A.D.
00:32:47We looked at
00:32:47those times
00:32:48in Daniel 7,
00:32:491260 literal
00:32:51years.
00:32:52And this is
00:32:52the period,
00:32:53friends,
00:32:55which is
00:32:55described right
00:32:56here in
00:32:56Daniel 11
00:32:57and verse 31.
00:32:59The word
00:33:00abomination
00:33:00is consistently
00:33:02used in the
00:33:03Old Testament
00:33:03in conjunction
00:33:04with idolatry.
00:33:06And a notable
00:33:07example is
00:33:08found in
00:33:09Ezekiel chapter
00:33:108,
00:33:11which links
00:33:12the word
00:33:12abomination
00:33:13with idolatry
00:33:14in general
00:33:15and with
00:33:15sun worship
00:33:16in particular.
00:33:17And that's
00:33:17very important
00:33:18to put
00:33:19in the
00:33:19back of
00:33:19your mind.
00:33:20Let's
00:33:21look at
00:33:21Ezekiel.
00:33:22Let's go
00:33:23to Ezekiel
00:33:238 and
00:33:25let's begin
00:33:25with verse
00:33:2616.
00:33:28I brought
00:33:29this up
00:33:29before.
00:33:32Quote,
00:33:32this is what
00:33:33the Bible
00:33:33says,
00:33:33And he
00:33:34brought me
00:33:34into the
00:33:34inner court
00:33:35of the
00:33:35Lord's
00:33:36house,
00:33:36and behold,
00:33:37at the
00:33:37door of
00:33:38the temple
00:33:38of the
00:33:39Lord,
00:33:39between
00:33:39the porch
00:33:40and altar,
00:33:40were about
00:33:41five and
00:33:41twenty men,
00:33:42with their
00:33:43backs toward
00:33:43the temple
00:33:44of the
00:33:44Lord,
00:33:45and their
00:33:45faces toward
00:33:46the east,
00:33:47and they
00:33:48worship the
00:33:48sun toward
00:33:50the east.
00:33:51Do any
00:33:51Christians
00:33:52worship the
00:33:54sun today?
00:34:00I'll let you
00:34:01think about
00:34:02that.
00:34:05Maybe
00:34:06Easter?
00:34:07Sunrise
00:34:08services?
00:34:09something to
00:34:12think about.
00:34:14Verse 17,
00:34:15Then he
00:34:16said unto
00:34:16me,
00:34:16Hast thou
00:34:17seen this,
00:34:18O son of
00:34:18man?
00:34:19Is it a
00:34:20light thing
00:34:20to the
00:34:21house of
00:34:21Judah,
00:34:21that they
00:34:22commit the
00:34:23abominations
00:34:24which they
00:34:26commit here?
00:34:27For they
00:34:28have filled
00:34:28the land
00:34:29with violence
00:34:29and have
00:34:29returned to
00:34:30provoke me
00:34:31to anger,
00:34:32and lo,
00:34:33they put the
00:34:33branch to
00:34:34their nose.
00:34:34That means
00:34:35they mock
00:34:38God,
00:34:39is what he's
00:34:39saying.
00:34:40They mock
00:34:41me.
00:34:42In verse
00:34:4218,
00:34:43Therefore will
00:34:43I also deal
00:34:44in fury.
00:34:46Mine eyes
00:34:46shall not
00:34:47spare,
00:34:47neither will
00:34:48I have
00:34:48pity.
00:34:49And though
00:34:50they cry in
00:34:50mine ears
00:34:51with a loud
00:34:51voice,
00:34:52they pray to
00:34:53God.
00:34:54Right?
00:34:56But if
00:34:56you're committing
00:34:58abominations,
00:35:00in open
00:35:01rebellion,
00:35:02and know it,
00:35:04God's not
00:35:04going to hear
00:35:05your prayers?
00:35:07Notice what
00:35:08he says.
00:35:08I'm going to
00:35:09deal in
00:35:10fury against
00:35:11them.
00:35:13I'm not
00:35:14going to
00:35:14spare.
00:35:15I'm not
00:35:15going to
00:35:16have pity.
00:35:18They may
00:35:19cry in
00:35:19mine ears
00:35:19with a
00:35:20loud voice,
00:35:20yet will
00:35:20I not
00:35:21hear them.
00:35:24That's
00:35:25Ezekiel
00:35:25chapter 8
00:35:28verses 16
00:35:29to 18.
00:35:31And in
00:35:32the succeeding
00:35:32context,
00:35:33God predicted
00:35:34that these
00:35:34abominations
00:35:35would bring
00:35:36desolation as
00:35:37a result.
00:35:38And so,
00:35:39the abomination
00:35:39of desolation
00:35:40already existed,
00:35:42friends,
00:35:42in the days of
00:35:43Israel,
00:35:43immediately before
00:35:45the Babylonian
00:35:46captivity,
00:35:47and it
00:35:48foreshadows the
00:35:49abomination of
00:35:49desolation in
00:35:50the days of
00:35:51Christ.
00:35:53So,
00:35:54this
00:35:56comparison
00:35:57of Daniel 8
00:35:59verse 12
00:36:00with Daniel 11
00:36:00and verse 31
00:36:01clearly indicates
00:36:02that the
00:36:03little horn's
00:36:03host is
00:36:04composed of
00:36:05his armies,
00:36:06the secular
00:36:07power,
00:36:07the imperial
00:36:08sword of
00:36:09the state.
00:36:13Now,
00:36:13I want to
00:36:14touch on
00:36:14something here,
00:36:15mainly to
00:36:16Adventists,
00:36:18because there
00:36:21are some that
00:36:21have stated that
00:36:22because William
00:36:22Miller believed
00:36:23that the daily
00:36:24was paganism
00:36:25and the
00:36:25sanctuary was
00:36:26the sanctuary
00:36:26of paganism,
00:36:27we should
00:36:28believe the
00:36:28same today
00:36:28because he
00:36:29was our
00:36:29Adventist
00:36:30pioneer.
00:36:30And I
00:36:31want to
00:36:31give caution
00:36:32to everyone.
00:36:45How should I
00:36:45put this?
00:36:46we need to
00:36:50recognize,
00:36:51I guess,
00:36:52that what
00:36:55William Miller
00:36:55taught was
00:36:56by no means
00:36:57perfect.
00:36:58And maybe
00:36:59you know that
00:37:00and understand
00:37:00that, but I'm
00:37:00just going to
00:37:01say it.
00:37:02I mean, for
00:37:02example, and this
00:37:03is not to drag
00:37:04down William
00:37:04Miller, a lot
00:37:05of truth this
00:37:06man shared.
00:37:07word, and
00:37:09many Adventists
00:37:09don't know
00:37:10this, in my
00:37:12experience, it's
00:37:14because we
00:37:16haven't been
00:37:17taught correct
00:37:19principles of
00:37:20study.
00:37:20That's a whole
00:37:21other series that
00:37:23I have preached
00:37:24upon.
00:37:24Miller taught
00:37:25that the first
00:37:26beast here that
00:37:26we read about
00:37:27in Revelation
00:37:2713 was pagan
00:37:29Rome.
00:37:31And then he
00:37:31went on and
00:37:32taught that the
00:37:32second beast was
00:37:33an image of the
00:37:34Roman beast or
00:37:35papal Rome.
00:37:37So, we've
00:37:39got to be
00:37:39careful, friends.
00:37:42Now, he
00:37:43correctly taught
00:37:44that the 1260
00:37:45years of papal
00:37:46dominion began
00:37:47in 530 AD and
00:37:49ended in 1798 AD.
00:37:52But then he
00:37:53takes, it's just
00:37:55kind of interesting,
00:37:55he takes the
00:37:56number 666, which
00:37:58has nothing to do
00:37:59with years, it's
00:38:01really the number
00:38:01of the beast's
00:38:02name, but he
00:38:03applies it to the
00:38:04period of pagan
00:38:05Rome's dominion
00:38:05from 158 BC to
00:38:07508 AD.
00:38:08And that's an
00:38:09error in
00:38:09understanding.
00:38:12Now, Ellen White
00:38:13had a lot of
00:38:14positive things to
00:38:14say about William
00:38:15Miller.
00:38:17But I'll ask you,
00:38:18does this mean
00:38:19that she endorsed
00:38:20every detail of
00:38:21Miller's
00:38:21interpretations?
00:38:22Of course not,
00:38:24as we shouldn't.
00:38:26In 1843, one of
00:38:29those who preached
00:38:30the judgment,
00:38:31our message made
00:38:35this statement.
00:38:36It's from the
00:38:36midnight cry,
00:38:37October 4th,
00:38:371843.
00:38:38Notice this
00:38:38statement.
00:38:39It says,
00:38:40quote, the very
00:38:41heart of the
00:38:41gospel was
00:38:42removed when
00:38:43the little
00:38:43horn took
00:38:44away the
00:38:44daily or
00:38:46continual
00:38:46mediation of
00:38:47Jesus Christ
00:38:48and cast down
00:38:49the place of
00:38:50his gospel
00:38:51sanctuary and
00:38:52made it a
00:38:52den of thieves.
00:38:54End quote.
00:38:55Now, that was
00:38:55in 1843,
00:38:57friends.
00:38:57That's not
00:38:59new.
00:39:04And this
00:39:04statement most
00:39:05likely was
00:39:06written by O.R.L.
00:39:07Crozier,
00:39:09whose article on
00:39:11the sanctuary
00:39:11was actually
00:39:13glowingly approved
00:39:15by Ellen White.
00:39:16I'll share that
00:39:16with you here.
00:39:17Let's just share
00:39:18that.
00:39:18It's from A Word
00:39:19to the Little
00:39:19Flock Scattered
00:39:20Abroad,
00:39:20page 12.
00:39:22Notice what she
00:39:22says.
00:39:24This is really
00:39:25an important
00:39:25endorsement,
00:39:26actually.
00:39:26She said,
00:39:27quote,
00:39:28I believe the
00:39:29sanctuary to be
00:39:30cleansed at the
00:39:30end of the
00:39:312300 days is
00:39:32the New
00:39:33Jerusalem temple
00:39:34of which Christ
00:39:35is minister.
00:39:38The Lord showed
00:39:39me in vision
00:39:40more than one
00:39:41year ago that
00:39:42Brother Crozier
00:39:43had the true
00:39:43light on the
00:39:45cleansing of the
00:39:45sanctuary, etc.,
00:39:47and that it was
00:39:48his will that
00:39:50Brother C should
00:39:51write out the
00:39:52view which he
00:39:54gave us in the
00:39:54day star extra
00:39:55February 7,
00:39:561846.
00:39:58I feel fully
00:39:59authorized by the
00:40:00Lord to recommend
00:40:00that extra to
00:40:02every saint,
00:40:03end quote.
00:40:04This is actually
00:40:05a very important
00:40:06endorsement because
00:40:06it helps to keep
00:40:08the truth on
00:40:08track against many
00:40:09fanatical ideas
00:40:10concerning the
00:40:12work of cleansing
00:40:13the sanctuary,
00:40:14Daniel 8,
00:40:1514.
00:40:15A lot of these
00:40:17fanatical ideas are
00:40:19coming out again
00:40:20with some new
00:40:21ones,
00:40:21one of which
00:40:23actually involves
00:40:25the fit man
00:40:26who takes the
00:40:28scapegoat,
00:40:28you know,
00:40:28in the sanctuary
00:40:29service on the
00:40:30day of atonement,
00:40:31he takes the
00:40:32scapegoat out into
00:40:33the wilderness
00:40:33and leaves him
00:40:35out in the
00:40:36wilderness.
00:40:36That's the fit
00:40:37man.
00:40:39Now,
00:40:40Crozier,
00:40:42in his articles
00:40:43there,
00:40:44makes it very
00:40:45clear that the
00:40:46fit man is a
00:40:46symbol of Jesus
00:40:47Christ.
00:40:48But there are
00:40:48some preachers
00:40:49in Adventism
00:40:50that have
00:40:50inherent ideas
00:40:52that they're
00:40:52peddling about
00:40:53the fit man.
00:40:54And it's actually
00:40:55pulling many
00:40:56innocent Adventists
00:40:57away from the
00:40:57truth.
00:40:59Now,
00:40:59we may get into
00:41:00all that sometime
00:41:01later on,
00:41:02but I encourage
00:41:02you to test all
00:41:03things before
00:41:04accepting it.
00:41:04You've heard me
00:41:05for years if you've
00:41:06been listening.
00:41:07I encourage you,
00:41:09like always,
00:41:10to check me out,
00:41:11as Pastor Brooks
00:41:12would say.
00:41:13Go to your
00:41:14Bible.
00:41:15Study it out.
00:41:17Adventists,
00:41:18go to the
00:41:18spirit of
00:41:18prophecy.
00:41:20Study it.
00:41:21Read.
00:41:23Depend upon
00:41:23the Holy Spirit
00:41:24to lead you
00:41:26into the truth.
00:41:27We read in
00:41:27the Bereans
00:41:28in Acts 17
00:41:29and 11
00:41:29that these
00:41:30were more
00:41:31noble than
00:41:32those in
00:41:33Thessalonica
00:41:35and that they
00:41:35received the
00:41:36word with all
00:41:36readiness of
00:41:37mind and
00:41:37searched the
00:41:38scriptures daily
00:41:39whether those
00:41:40things were so.
00:41:41So,
00:41:41Paul would come
00:41:42in and preach
00:41:43these things
00:41:43and they just
00:41:44didn't take his
00:41:45word for it
00:41:46because here is
00:41:47an apostle of
00:41:48the Lord.
00:41:50Let's be like
00:41:51the Bereans.
00:41:51Amen?
00:41:54In the
00:41:55present truth
00:41:56article of
00:41:59December
00:41:591849,
00:42:02Ellen White
00:42:02used language
00:42:03that reveals
00:42:04actually her
00:42:05understanding of
00:42:05the daily.
00:42:06And I think
00:42:07it helps us
00:42:07out quite a lot.
00:42:08Present truth,
00:42:09December 8,
00:42:101849.
00:42:10She says,
00:42:11quote,
00:42:11Christ did
00:42:12close his
00:42:13daily or
00:42:14continual
00:42:14ministration
00:42:15or mediation
00:42:16in the first
00:42:17apartment of
00:42:18the heavenly
00:42:18sanctuary.
00:42:19She's talking
00:42:19about what
00:42:19happened in
00:42:201844.
00:42:21And shut
00:42:22the door
00:42:22which no
00:42:23man can
00:42:23open.
00:42:24And opened
00:42:25a door in
00:42:25the second
00:42:26apartment or
00:42:27holiest of
00:42:28all which no
00:42:29man can
00:42:29shut.
00:42:30And passed
00:42:31within the
00:42:32second veil
00:42:32bearing before
00:42:34the Father
00:42:34on the breast
00:42:35plate of
00:42:36judgment all
00:42:36for whom he
00:42:37is now acting
00:42:38as intercessor.
00:42:39That's what she
00:42:40says.
00:42:40She says,
00:42:41if this is the
00:42:41position that
00:42:42Christ now
00:42:42occupies,
00:42:43then there is
00:42:44no intercessor
00:42:45in the first
00:42:45apartment.
00:42:47And in vain
00:42:48do misguided
00:42:49souls knock
00:42:49at that door
00:42:50saying,
00:42:50Lord,
00:42:50Lord,
00:42:51open unto
00:42:51us.
00:42:53She lays
00:42:54out here
00:42:55her understanding
00:42:56of it.
00:42:56It's a very
00:42:59well statement
00:43:01for us to
00:43:02take into
00:43:03account.
00:43:04Now,
00:43:04David Arnold,
00:43:06he actually
00:43:08owned the
00:43:08barn that
00:43:09was used
00:43:09by Ellen
00:43:10White and
00:43:10the pioneers
00:43:11to hammer
00:43:12out all
00:43:13the beliefs,
00:43:14the summary
00:43:14beliefs of
00:43:15the emerging
00:43:17Seventh-day
00:43:18Adventist
00:43:18church.
00:43:20Notice what
00:43:21he stated.
00:43:21It was in
00:43:22the Present
00:43:22Truth article
00:43:23as well in
00:43:24December of
00:43:241849.
00:43:25Notice what
00:43:26he said.
00:43:26He says,
00:43:26quote,
00:43:27therefore we
00:43:28are brought
00:43:28by the
00:43:29force of
00:43:29circumstances
00:43:30and the
00:43:30fulfillment
00:43:30of events
00:43:31to the
00:43:32irresistible
00:43:33conclusion that
00:43:34on the
00:43:35tenth day
00:43:35of the
00:43:36seventh month
00:43:36Jewish time
00:43:37in the
00:43:38autumn of
00:43:391844,
00:43:40Christ did
00:43:41close his
00:43:42daily or
00:43:42continual
00:43:43ministration
00:43:44or mediation
00:43:45in the
00:43:46first apartment
00:43:46of the
00:43:47heavenly
00:43:47sanctuary
00:43:47and shut
00:43:49the door
00:43:49which no
00:43:49man can
00:43:50open and
00:43:50open the
00:43:50door in
00:43:51the second
00:43:52apartment or
00:43:52holiest
00:43:53hall which
00:43:53no man
00:43:54can shut.
00:43:54Sounds
00:43:54kind of like
00:43:55what Ellen White
00:43:56said,
00:43:56right?
00:43:59Now,
00:43:59let me share
00:44:00this with
00:44:00you.
00:44:01And I'm
00:44:01just kind of
00:44:01talking on
00:44:02what William
00:44:03Miller was
00:44:04thinking and
00:44:04what is the
00:44:07daily.
00:44:08Just throwing
00:44:08some information
00:44:10out there for
00:44:10all of us to
00:44:11consider.
00:44:14From the
00:44:15Spirit of
00:44:15Prophecy,
00:44:16Volume 4,
00:44:16page 263.
00:44:21Quote,
00:44:22the
00:44:22ministration
00:44:23of the
00:44:23earthly
00:44:23sanctuary
00:44:24consisted of
00:44:26two divisions.
00:44:27The priest
00:44:28ministered
00:44:28daily in
00:44:29the holy
00:44:29place.
00:44:29I've
00:44:30shared this
00:44:30before,
00:44:30actually.
00:44:31While once
00:44:32a year the
00:44:32high priest
00:44:33performed a
00:44:33special work
00:44:34of atonement
00:44:34in the
00:44:35most holy
00:44:35for the
00:44:36cleansing
00:44:36of the
00:44:37sanctuary.
00:44:38Day by
00:44:38day the
00:44:39repentant
00:44:39sinner brought
00:44:40his offering
00:44:40to the
00:44:41door of
00:44:41the
00:44:41tabernacle
00:44:42and placing
00:44:43his hand
00:44:44upon the
00:44:44victim's
00:44:44head,
00:44:45confessed
00:44:46his sins,
00:44:47thus in
00:44:47figure,
00:44:48transferring
00:44:49them to
00:44:50the innocent
00:44:50sacrifice.
00:44:51The
00:44:52animal was
00:44:52then slain
00:44:53and the
00:44:54blood or
00:44:54the flesh
00:44:55was carried
00:44:55by the
00:44:56priest into
00:44:56the holy
00:44:57place.
00:44:58Thus the
00:44:59sin was
00:44:59in
00:45:00figure,
00:45:01transferred
00:45:02to the
00:45:02sanctuary.
00:45:03Such was
00:45:04the work
00:45:05that went
00:45:06forward
00:45:07throughout
00:45:07the year.
00:45:09The
00:45:09continual
00:45:10transfer
00:45:10of sins
00:45:11to the
00:45:11sanctuary.
00:45:12Notice it
00:45:13was continual
00:45:13transfer
00:45:14of sins.
00:45:16Those who
00:45:17are talking
00:45:17about paganism
00:45:18and the
00:45:19paganism of
00:45:19the sanctuary,
00:45:20they lean
00:45:21on Antichus
00:45:22Epiphanes,
00:45:23who sacrificed
00:45:24a pig
00:45:25one time
00:45:26in the
00:45:27sanctuary.
00:45:28But that's
00:45:28not what we're
00:45:29reading here
00:45:29is the
00:45:29process.
00:45:35The
00:45:36continual
00:45:37transfer
00:45:37of sins
00:45:38to the
00:45:38sanctuary
00:45:38rendered a
00:45:40further work
00:45:41of ministration
00:45:42necessary in
00:45:43order for
00:45:43their removal.
00:45:45On the
00:45:45tenth day
00:45:46of the
00:45:46seventh month,
00:45:47the high
00:45:47priest entered
00:45:48the inner
00:45:48apartment,
00:45:49or most
00:45:49holy place,
00:45:51which he
00:45:51was forbidden
00:45:52on pain
00:45:53of death
00:45:54to enter
00:45:54at any
00:45:55time.
00:45:56The
00:45:56cleansing
00:45:57of the
00:45:57sanctuary
00:45:58then
00:45:58performed
00:45:59and completed
00:45:59the yearly
00:46:00round of
00:46:00service.
00:46:01They tied
00:46:02a rope
00:46:04to his
00:46:04ankle as
00:46:05he went
00:46:06into the
00:46:06most holy
00:46:06place in
00:46:07case he
00:46:08went in
00:46:08there with
00:46:09a sin
00:46:09in his
00:46:10record that
00:46:11he hadn't
00:46:12repented
00:46:12of.
00:46:14He would
00:46:14be struck
00:46:14down dead
00:46:15and they
00:46:15couldn't
00:46:16just walk
00:46:17in there
00:46:17and take
00:46:18him out.
00:46:19They'd
00:46:19have to
00:46:19pull him
00:46:20out.
00:46:23Now,
00:46:23Uriah
00:46:24Smith,
00:46:25an Adventist
00:46:25pioneer,
00:46:26he agreed
00:46:27that the
00:46:27sanctuary
00:46:27that was
00:46:28trampled
00:46:28underfoot
00:46:29was the
00:46:29heavenly
00:46:30sanctuary
00:46:30and that
00:46:31the papacy
00:46:31was the
00:46:32power that
00:46:32trampled
00:46:33upon it.
00:46:34Notice
00:46:35this.
00:46:36This is
00:46:37a track,
00:46:39track number
00:46:40five,
00:46:41Advent and
00:46:41Sabbath track
00:46:42that he
00:46:42had penned,
00:46:44the sanctuary
00:46:44and the
00:46:452300 days.
00:46:46Notice
00:46:46what he
00:46:47says.
00:46:47He said,
00:46:47quote,
00:46:48and I'm
00:46:48using old
00:46:49references here
00:46:50because I'm
00:46:50trying to show
00:46:51this isn't
00:46:51new.
00:46:54It's been
00:46:54claimed that
00:46:55there are
00:46:55these new
00:46:55theories and
00:46:57it's not
00:46:57new.
00:46:58That's what
00:46:59I'm just
00:46:59trying to
00:47:00show.
00:47:01Notice what
00:47:01Uriah
00:47:02Smith says,
00:47:03quote,
00:47:03again,
00:47:04we read in
00:47:05Daniel 8.13
00:47:06about treading
00:47:07the sanctuary
00:47:07underfoot and
00:47:09it may be
00:47:09asked how a
00:47:10sanctuary in
00:47:11heaven can be
00:47:11trodden underfoot.
00:47:13These expressions
00:47:14are figurative
00:47:15as we will be
00:47:17seen by
00:47:17Hebrews 10.29
00:47:19which speaks
00:47:19of treading
00:47:20underfoot the
00:47:21Son of God.
00:47:21The sanctuary
00:47:23can be
00:47:23trodden underfoot
00:47:25in the same
00:47:26sense that the
00:47:26Son of God
00:47:27its minister
00:47:28can.
00:47:29Thus,
00:47:29the Pope
00:47:30has trodden
00:47:31underfoot the
00:47:31sanctuary by
00:47:32calling his
00:47:33own sanctuary
00:47:34or temple
00:47:35the temple
00:47:35of God
00:47:36and turning
00:47:37away the
00:47:37worship of
00:47:38men from
00:47:38the temple
00:47:38of God
00:47:39in heaven
00:47:39to his
00:47:40own sanctuary
00:47:41at Rome.
00:47:42And he
00:47:43has trodden
00:47:44underfoot the
00:47:44Son of God,
00:47:45the minister
00:47:46of that
00:47:47sanctuary,
00:47:47by exalting
00:47:48himself above
00:47:49all that is
00:47:49called God
00:47:50and assuming
00:47:51to be the
00:47:51head of the
00:47:52church in
00:47:52the place
00:47:52of Jesus
00:47:53Christ.
00:47:53End quote.
00:47:55So you see,
00:47:56they had this
00:47:56understanding.
00:47:59What about
00:47:59James White?
00:48:02James White
00:48:03concurred,
00:48:04actually.
00:48:07In an
00:48:07Advent Review
00:48:08and Sabbath
00:48:09Herald
00:48:09article,
00:48:10January of
00:48:101851,
00:48:11notice what
00:48:12James White
00:48:13penned.
00:48:14Quote,
00:48:14It may be
00:48:15said that the
00:48:16heavenly
00:48:16sanctuary is not
00:48:18capable of
00:48:18being trodden
00:48:19underfoot.
00:48:19But we ask,
00:48:21is it not as
00:48:22capable of
00:48:22being trodden
00:48:23underfoot as
00:48:23the Son of
00:48:24God,
00:48:24who is the
00:48:25minister of
00:48:25the same
00:48:26sanctuary?
00:48:27Says Paul,
00:48:29and then he
00:48:29quotes Paul,
00:48:30of how much
00:48:31sore punishment
00:48:32suppose ye
00:48:32shall he be
00:48:33thought worthy
00:48:34who hath
00:48:35trodden
00:48:35underfoot the
00:48:36Son of God
00:48:37and hath
00:48:37counted the
00:48:38blood of
00:48:38the covenant
00:48:39wherewith he
00:48:40was sanctified
00:48:41an unholy
00:48:42thing and
00:48:43hath done
00:48:43despite unto
00:48:44the Spirit
00:48:45of grace.
00:48:46He quoted
00:48:47Hebrews 10
00:48:4729.
00:48:49He says,
00:48:49James White
00:48:50says,
00:48:50We say
00:48:50then that
00:48:51the sanctuary
00:48:52in heaven
00:48:52has been
00:48:53trodden
00:48:53underfoot in
00:48:54the same
00:48:55sense that
00:48:56the Son of
00:48:56God has
00:48:57been trodden
00:48:57underfoot.
00:48:59Was the
00:49:00Son of God
00:49:00trodden underfoot
00:49:01by sacrificing
00:49:02a pig on
00:49:03the altar
00:49:03by Antiochus
00:49:04Epiphanes?
00:49:07Think it
00:49:08through.
00:49:11In a similar
00:49:12manner,
00:49:13he goes on,
00:49:14has the
00:49:14host,
00:49:15the true
00:49:15church,
00:49:16also been
00:49:16trodden
00:49:17down?
00:49:17Those who
00:49:18have rejected
00:49:19the Son of
00:49:19God have
00:49:20trodden
00:49:20him underfoot
00:49:21and of
00:49:22course have
00:49:22trodden
00:49:23underfoot
00:49:23his
00:49:23sanctuary.
00:49:25The
00:49:25Catholic
00:49:25church has
00:49:26trodden
00:49:26underfoot
00:49:27not only
00:49:27the holy
00:49:27city,
00:49:28but the
00:49:28sanctuary
00:49:29and its
00:49:29minister or
00:49:30priest,
00:49:30the Son
00:49:31of God.
00:49:32Rome has
00:49:32been called
00:49:33the holy
00:49:33city and
00:49:34the eternal
00:49:34city,
00:49:35which can
00:49:35only be
00:49:36said of
00:49:36the city
00:49:37of the
00:49:37living God,
00:49:38the new
00:49:38Jerusalem.
00:49:39End quote.
00:49:39And that's
00:49:41James
00:49:41White saying
00:49:43this in
00:49:44January of
00:49:441851.
00:49:47No,
00:49:47no,
00:49:47that's after
00:49:481844,
00:49:49but these
00:49:49are things
00:49:50that they
00:49:50understood.
00:49:52It's not
00:49:53new.
00:49:54They debated
00:49:54this back
00:49:55and forth,
00:49:55friends,
00:49:56don't get
00:49:56me wrong.
00:49:58And this
00:49:58is what
00:49:59you see.
00:50:01I mean,
00:50:01later on,
00:50:03Alonzo T.
00:50:04Jones,
00:50:04professor of
00:50:05history at
00:50:06the university
00:50:07there,
00:50:08the college
00:50:08in Battle
00:50:10Creek,
00:50:12he explained
00:50:12what the
00:50:13taking away
00:50:14of the
00:50:14daily was.
00:50:15This is
00:50:15in his
00:50:16book,
00:50:16The
00:50:16Consecrated
00:50:17Way to
00:50:18Christian
00:50:18Perfection,
00:50:19pages 102
00:50:19and 103.
00:50:21This is
00:50:21rather long,
00:50:22but listen
00:50:22to what he
00:50:23says.
00:50:23He explains
00:50:24it.
00:50:25Quote,
00:50:25In the
00:50:26place of
00:50:26Christ,
00:50:27the true
00:50:27and divine
00:50:28high priest
00:50:28of God's
00:50:29own appointment
00:50:29in heaven,
00:50:31she,
00:50:31and he's
00:50:31speaking of
00:50:32the Roman
00:50:33papacy,
00:50:33the Catholic
00:50:33church,
00:50:34she has
00:50:34substituted
00:50:35a human,
00:50:36sinful,
00:50:37and sinning
00:50:37priesthood
00:50:38on earth.
00:50:38In the
00:50:39place of
00:50:40the continual
00:50:41heavenly
00:50:42ministry of
00:50:42Christ in
00:50:43his true
00:50:43priesthood upon
00:50:45his true
00:50:45sacrifice,
00:50:46she has
00:50:47substituted
00:50:47only an
00:50:48enderful
00:50:49ministry of
00:50:49a human,
00:50:50earthly,
00:50:51sinful,
00:50:51and sinning
00:50:52priesthood in
00:50:53the once a
00:50:55day daily
00:50:56sacrifice of
00:50:57the mass.
00:50:59And in the
00:51:00place of the
00:51:00sanctuary and
00:51:01the true
00:51:02tabernacle,
00:51:02which the
00:51:03Lord pitched,
00:51:03not man,
00:51:04she has
00:51:05substituted her
00:51:05own meeting
00:51:06places of
00:51:07wood and
00:51:07stone,
00:51:07to which
00:51:08she applies
00:51:09the term
00:51:10sanctuary.
00:51:12Thus,
00:51:13instead of
00:51:14the one
00:51:15continual
00:51:16high priest,
00:51:17the one
00:51:17continual
00:51:18ministry,
00:51:19and the one
00:51:19continual
00:51:20sanctuary in
00:51:21heaven,
00:51:22which God has
00:51:23ordained and
00:51:23which is the
00:51:24only true,
00:51:25she has devised
00:51:26out of her own
00:51:27heart and
00:51:27substituted for
00:51:29the only true,
00:51:31many high
00:51:32priests,
00:51:32many ministries,
00:51:33many sacrifices,
00:51:35and many
00:51:35sanctuaries on
00:51:37earth,
00:51:37which in every
00:51:38possible relation
00:51:39are only human
00:51:40and utterly
00:51:41false.
00:51:43And it can
00:51:44never take away
00:51:45sin,
00:51:46Brother Jones
00:51:46says.
00:51:48He says,
00:51:49no earthly
00:51:50priesthood,
00:51:50no earthly
00:51:51ministry,
00:51:52no earthly
00:51:52sacrifice or
00:51:53service in
00:51:54any earthly
00:51:55sanctuary can
00:51:57ever take
00:51:58away sin.
00:52:00This is what
00:52:00we learn in
00:52:02Hebrews,
00:52:03the book of
00:52:04Hebrews,
00:52:05in which he
00:52:06says here.
00:52:07He says,
00:52:07in the book of
00:52:08Hebrews,
00:52:08we have seen
00:52:09that even the
00:52:09priesthood,
00:52:10the ministry,
00:52:11the sacrifice,
00:52:12and the service
00:52:12in the earthly
00:52:13sanctuary,
00:52:14the very service
00:52:15which the Lord
00:52:16himself ordained
00:52:17on earth,
00:52:18never took away
00:52:19sin.
00:52:22The inspired
00:52:23record is that
00:52:24they never did
00:52:25take away sin
00:52:26and that they
00:52:26never could
00:52:27take away sin.
00:52:28He says,
00:52:29it is only the
00:52:30priesthood and
00:52:30ministry of
00:52:31Christ that
00:52:32can ever take
00:52:33away sin.
00:52:34Praise God.
00:52:36And this is a
00:52:37priesthood and a
00:52:37ministry in
00:52:38heaven and of a
00:52:39sanctuary that is
00:52:40in heaven.
00:52:42For when Christ
00:52:43was on earth,
00:52:43he was not a
00:52:44priest.
00:52:45And if he had
00:52:46remained on earth
00:52:47until this hour,
00:52:48he would not yet
00:52:49be a priest.
00:52:50As it stands
00:52:51written,
00:52:51and he quotes
00:52:52Hebrews 8,
00:52:524,
00:52:53if he were on
00:52:54earth,
00:52:54he should not
00:52:55be a priest.
00:52:58Thus,
00:52:58by plain word
00:53:00and abundant
00:53:00illustration,
00:53:01God has
00:53:01demonstrated that
00:53:02no earthly
00:53:03priesthood,
00:53:04sacrifice,
00:53:05or ministry
00:53:05can ever take
00:53:06away sin.
00:53:06End quote.
00:53:08Just powerful.
00:53:09It's actually a
00:53:09very good book,
00:53:10The Consecrated
00:53:11Way to Christian
00:53:12Perfection,
00:53:12that Jones has
00:53:13laid out.
00:53:15It's a good one
00:53:15to read.
00:53:18But,
00:53:19guess what I'm
00:53:20saying?
00:53:21It's from these
00:53:22texts and many
00:53:25more statements
00:53:26that have been
00:53:29researched that
00:53:31have swayed me,
00:53:34have proved to
00:53:34me that it's
00:53:35not possible to
00:53:37maintain any
00:53:38longer that the
00:53:39daily of Daniel
00:53:398 refers to
00:53:40paganism and
00:53:42that it was
00:53:42taken away in
00:53:42508 AD.
00:53:43I think the
00:53:46history of that
00:53:46period actually,
00:53:49it just doesn't
00:53:49line up with
00:53:50that interpretation.
00:53:51There's nothing
00:53:52actually that I
00:53:53can find in
00:53:53Spirit of
00:53:54Prophecy which
00:53:54requires it.
00:53:56It's just another
00:53:57misunderstanding,
00:53:58you see,
00:53:58I believe,
00:53:59by William Miller
00:53:59and doesn't take
00:54:00anything away from
00:54:01the truths that
00:54:02he discovered and
00:54:03that he shared in
00:54:04the Great Advent
00:54:04Awakening.
00:54:05And I'll be
00:54:08addressing that in
00:54:08a separate message,
00:54:09I hope,
00:54:10here very soon.
00:54:11I'll just lay it
00:54:11out there.
00:54:12We're not to argue
00:54:13over this.
00:54:14It really is a
00:54:15kind of a minor
00:54:16thing that I
00:54:18touched on with
00:54:19others.
00:54:20It's kind of a
00:54:20minor thing we
00:54:21can get sucked
00:54:21up in.
00:54:22Satan would love,
00:54:23you know,
00:54:24who was it,
00:54:25HMS Richards would
00:54:27always say,
00:54:27the devil's
00:54:28rabbits.
00:54:29We've got to
00:54:29quit chasing the
00:54:30devil's rabbits.
00:54:32That's not our
00:54:33mission for today.
00:54:34Our mission is
00:54:35Revelation 14.
00:54:37This is to argue
00:54:39over this part of
00:54:40the daily by some,
00:54:43you know.
00:54:44But I think we
00:54:45should see both
00:54:45sides and just lay
00:54:47it out and just
00:54:48let it fall where
00:54:50it may.
00:54:51I think we can
00:54:51agree to that,
00:54:52right?
00:54:53Let's get back to
00:54:54Daniel 8,
00:54:54verse 12.
00:54:56Daniel 8,
00:54:56verse 12.
00:54:57Remember it
00:54:57said,
00:54:57And a host was
00:54:58given him against
00:54:59the daily sacrifice,
00:55:01the Lord's added,
00:55:02by reason of
00:55:02transgression,
00:55:04it was cast
00:55:04down to,
00:55:05cast down the
00:55:06truth to the
00:55:06ground and it
00:55:07practiced and
00:55:07prospered.
00:55:09Now I want you
00:55:10to notice that
00:55:13the little horn's
00:55:14host helps fight
00:55:15against the daily
00:55:16by reason of
00:55:18transgression.
00:55:21The word
00:55:22transgression there,
00:55:24pesa,
00:55:25it's the strongest
00:55:26in the Old
00:55:27Testament for this
00:55:27type of sin.
00:55:28It really means
00:55:29rebellion or
00:55:30revolt.
00:55:31revolt.
00:55:32The little horn
00:55:34and his host are
00:55:34not simply
00:55:35sinning.
00:55:36They're revolting
00:55:37or they're openly
00:55:38rebelling against
00:55:41the prince.
00:55:42They're openly
00:55:42rebelling against
00:55:43the daily in the
00:55:44place of the
00:55:44sanctuary.
00:55:47You know,
00:55:48we recall in
00:55:49Daniel 7,
00:55:49verse 21,
00:55:50the king of the
00:55:51north,
00:55:51in Daniel 11,
00:55:5236,
00:55:53the man of sin
00:55:53in 2 Thessalonians
00:55:542,
00:55:55in the beast of
00:55:56Revelation 13,
00:55:56they all
00:55:57manifest this
00:55:58same attitude.
00:55:59It's an open
00:56:00and willful
00:56:01rebellion against
00:56:02the prince,
00:56:03against the daily
00:56:04and the place
00:56:05of the sanctuary.
00:56:10And
00:56:10amazingly,
00:56:13in all these
00:56:14passages,
00:56:15we're told that
00:56:16the little horn
00:56:16and his host
00:56:17prosper in
00:56:19their endeavor,
00:56:19at least for
00:56:23a while.
00:56:26At least for
00:56:26a while.
00:56:27I meant to say
00:56:27Daniel 7,
00:56:2825 there.
00:56:29I think I said
00:56:30Daniel 7,
00:56:3021.
00:56:31Daniel 7,
00:56:3225,
00:56:33Daniel 11,
00:56:3436,
00:56:352 Thessalonians
00:56:362,
00:56:36verses 3 and
00:56:374,
00:56:37Revelation 13,
00:56:38verse 5 to 7.
00:56:40There we go.
00:56:42Look those up.
00:56:43Read them.
00:56:44Now,
00:56:45Daniel 7,
00:56:4521 tells us
00:56:46that the little
00:56:46horn made war
00:56:47with the saints,
00:56:48prevailed against
00:56:49them.
00:56:50Right?
00:56:51Daniel 11,
00:56:5136 informs us
00:56:52that the king
00:56:53of the north
00:56:53shall do
00:56:54according to
00:56:55his will.
00:56:56Paul tells us
00:56:57there in
00:56:582 Thessalonians
00:56:59that,
00:57:04well,
00:57:04when you read
00:57:05that,
00:57:05it's followed
00:57:05by a description
00:57:06of an extended
00:57:07period.
00:57:09Right?
00:57:10When the man
00:57:11of sin and
00:57:12the mystery
00:57:12of iniquity
00:57:12do their
00:57:13woeful work,
00:57:14Paul's talking
00:57:15about.
00:57:16And this same
00:57:17idea,
00:57:17again,
00:57:18is found in
00:57:18the book of
00:57:18Revelation,
00:57:19where Babylon
00:57:19mows down
00:57:20the saints.
00:57:22Revelation 6,
00:57:23right?
00:57:23They cry out
00:57:24for justice.
00:57:25Look at verses
00:57:269 through 11
00:57:27of Revelation 6.
00:57:29And eventually
00:57:30their pleas
00:57:31will be answered,
00:57:31but there is a
00:57:32period during
00:57:33which Babylon
00:57:33prevails over
00:57:35them.
00:57:36In other words,
00:57:37for a period,
00:57:38the little horn
00:57:39and his host
00:57:39gain the ascendancy
00:57:40over the prince
00:57:41and his host.
00:57:42And this is
00:57:45actually what
00:57:45necessitates
00:57:47the judgment.
00:57:50See,
00:57:51the purpose
00:57:51of the judgment
00:57:51in this specific
00:57:52context is to
00:57:54reverse the
00:57:54little horn's
00:57:55work.
00:57:57This is really
00:57:57the culmination
00:57:58of what began
00:58:00when Cain
00:58:01killed Abel.
00:58:03I talked about
00:58:04that before,
00:58:04if you recall.
00:58:06The blood of
00:58:06Abel,
00:58:07there in
00:58:07Genesis 4.10,
00:58:08cried out for
00:58:09justice.
00:58:12The judgment
00:58:13will vindicate
00:58:13God's faithful
00:58:14martyrs who've
00:58:15been mowed down
00:58:16in the course
00:58:16of history
00:58:17by those who
00:58:18claim to be
00:58:19followers of
00:58:20God.
00:58:22See,
00:58:22we'll see a
00:58:22repeat of that.
00:58:24They'll be
00:58:24seeking out
00:58:26to destroy
00:58:27the remnant
00:58:27of God's
00:58:28people here
00:58:28at the end
00:58:29of time,
00:58:30thinking they're
00:58:30doing God's
00:58:31will.
00:58:35Let me share
00:58:36this again.
00:58:37Go back to
00:58:37the consecrated
00:58:38way to Christian
00:58:38perfection.
00:58:40Book by
00:58:40A.T.
00:58:41Jones,
00:58:42pages 99
00:58:43to 101.
00:58:44Notice what
00:58:45he says here.
00:58:47Tell me about
00:58:47the reason of
00:58:48transgression.
00:58:49He says,
00:58:50quote,
00:58:50it was by
00:58:51reason of
00:58:52transgression,
00:58:53that is,
00:58:53by reason of
00:58:54sin,
00:58:55that this power
00:58:56gained the
00:58:57host that was
00:58:58used to cast
00:58:59down the truth
00:59:00to the ground,
00:59:00to shut away
00:59:01from the church
00:59:02and the world
00:59:02Christ's priesthood,
00:59:04his ministry,
00:59:05and his sanctuary,
00:59:06and to cast it
00:59:07all down to the
00:59:07ground and tread
00:59:08it underfoot.
00:59:09It was by
00:59:11reason of
00:59:11transgression that
00:59:12this is the
00:59:13consideration and
00:59:14the revelation
00:59:15upon which the
00:59:15apostle in
00:59:162nd Thessalonians
00:59:17defines this
00:59:18power as the
00:59:20man of sin
00:59:21and the mystery
00:59:22of iniquity.
00:59:25And in the order
00:59:28of God,
00:59:28it was Christ in
00:59:29his ministry and
00:59:30sanctuary in heaven,
00:59:31and this alone
00:59:32that in truth was
00:59:34the object of the
00:59:36Levitical system.
00:59:36That's another
00:59:37point.
00:59:38Think about that.
00:59:39And that is
00:59:40truly the
00:59:41Christian succession
00:59:42to that system.
00:59:44Remember when we
00:59:44started this whole
00:59:45series of prophecies,
00:59:46I said,
00:59:46we've got to learn
00:59:47some things about
00:59:47the sanctuary
00:59:48in order to
00:59:50rightly understand
00:59:52biblical prophecies.
00:59:53because the
01:00:00Christian system is
01:00:02the succession to
01:00:03the Levitical
01:00:04system, you
01:00:05see, literal,
01:00:08spiritual, right?
01:00:09He goes on, he
01:00:11says,
01:00:12therefore,
01:00:12when in and by
01:00:13the apostasy,
01:00:14the system of
01:00:14bishops as high
01:00:16priests,
01:00:16presbyters as
01:00:17priests,
01:00:18deacons as
01:00:19Levites,
01:00:19and the supper
01:00:20as a sacrifice
01:00:21was insinuated
01:00:23as the Christian
01:00:23succession to the
01:00:24Levitical system,
01:00:26this of course
01:00:27was,
01:00:27this of itself
01:00:31was nothing else
01:00:33than to put this
01:00:34false system of
01:00:35the apostasy
01:00:36in the place
01:00:37of the true
01:00:38completely to
01:00:39shut out the
01:00:40true and
01:00:40finally to cast
01:00:41it down to the
01:00:42ground and stamp
01:00:42upon it.
01:00:43Sorry, my notes
01:00:46started blinking.
01:00:47I'm like,
01:00:48what's it doing?
01:00:49He goes on,
01:00:50he says,
01:00:51and this is how
01:00:51it is that this
01:00:52great Christian
01:00:53truth of the
01:00:54true priesthood,
01:00:55ministry,
01:00:56and sanctuary
01:00:56of Christ is
01:00:57not known to
01:00:58the Christian
01:00:58world today.
01:01:00He says,
01:01:01the man of sin
01:01:02has taken it
01:01:03away.
01:01:05He's cast it
01:01:06down to the
01:01:06ground and
01:01:07stamped upon it.
01:01:08The mystery
01:01:09of iniquity
01:01:10has hid this
01:01:11great truth
01:01:11from the
01:01:12church and
01:01:12the world
01:01:13during all
01:01:14these ages
01:01:15in which the
01:01:15man of sin
01:01:16has held
01:01:16place in the
01:01:17world and
01:01:17has passed
01:01:18itself off
01:01:19as God
01:01:19and its
01:01:20iniquitous
01:01:21host as
01:01:22the church
01:01:22of God.
01:01:22End quote.
01:01:24What a
01:01:25statement.
01:01:29What a
01:01:30statement.
01:01:32And notice
01:01:33this statement,
01:01:34this is from
01:01:35Manuscript
01:01:36Releases
01:01:36volume 5
01:01:37page 45.
01:01:38It's
01:01:39referring to
01:01:40Daniel 8
01:01:41verse 12.
01:01:42Quote,
01:01:42here comes a
01:01:43power under
01:01:44the control
01:01:44of Satan
01:01:45that puts
01:01:46up the
01:01:47first day
01:01:48to be
01:01:48observed.
01:01:49God calls
01:01:50him the
01:01:50man of sin
01:01:51because he
01:01:51has,
01:01:52notice the
01:01:53terminology
01:01:53she uses,
01:01:55perpetuated
01:01:56transgression.
01:01:57what is
01:02:01the truth
01:02:02that the
01:02:02papacy
01:02:03cast down?
01:02:05Certainly
01:02:05it was the
01:02:06truth concerning
01:02:06the daily
01:02:07ministry of
01:02:07Christ and
01:02:08the place
01:02:09of his
01:02:09sanctuary
01:02:09where Christ
01:02:11hears prayers
01:02:11and forgives
01:02:13sin that
01:02:13papal room
01:02:13cast down
01:02:14or obscured.
01:02:15Surely it's
01:02:15that.
01:02:17But the
01:02:17Bible has a
01:02:18much wider
01:02:18and all
01:02:19encompassing
01:02:19application
01:02:20in mind
01:02:21for what
01:02:22this means.
01:02:23I mean
01:02:24notice what
01:02:24it tells us
01:02:25in Psalm
01:02:25119
01:02:26and verse
01:02:26142.
01:02:27It says
01:02:28thy
01:02:29righteousness
01:02:29is an
01:02:30everlasting
01:02:30righteousness.
01:02:31Notice
01:02:31and thy
01:02:32law is
01:02:33the truth.
01:02:36The Bible
01:02:37says God's
01:02:38law is the
01:02:39truth.
01:02:40So
01:02:40why and
01:02:42by whose
01:02:43authority is
01:02:44the law of
01:02:44God introduced
01:02:45in Daniel
01:02:458 verse
01:02:4612?
01:02:47Let's think
01:02:48about this.
01:02:50After the
01:02:51papacy cast
01:02:52down the
01:02:52truth to
01:02:53the ground
01:02:53or cast
01:02:54down the
01:02:54law of
01:02:55God,
01:02:56Daniel 8
01:02:56verse 12,
01:02:58thus proceeding
01:02:58in transgression
01:03:00in the full
01:03:00sense,
01:03:01the Bible
01:03:02says it
01:03:02practiced
01:03:03and prospered.
01:03:04That is
01:03:05for a time
01:03:06and times
01:03:07in the
01:03:07dividing of
01:03:08time or
01:03:08for 1260
01:03:09years.
01:03:10It did
01:03:10this without
01:03:10obstruction.
01:03:11It practiced
01:03:12and it
01:03:12prospered.
01:03:13I'll talk
01:03:13about that
01:03:15again in a
01:03:15moment.
01:03:17Daniel 7
01:03:18verse 25
01:03:18confirms this
01:03:19when the
01:03:19little horn
01:03:20thinks to
01:03:20have changed
01:03:21the law
01:03:21of God.
01:03:22And he
01:03:24shall speak
01:03:25great words
01:03:25against the
01:03:26Most High
01:03:26and shall
01:03:28wear out
01:03:28the saints
01:03:29of the
01:03:29Most High
01:03:30and think
01:03:30to change
01:03:31times and
01:03:31laws and
01:03:32they shall
01:03:32be given
01:03:33into his
01:03:33hand until
01:03:34a time
01:03:34times in
01:03:35the dividing
01:03:35of time.
01:03:39Now,
01:03:40let's remember
01:03:41that when we
01:03:43see the term
01:03:43speaking in
01:03:44prophecy in
01:03:45the context
01:03:46of a nation,
01:03:47it actually
01:03:47depicts an
01:03:48action in
01:03:49the process
01:03:50that represents
01:03:51the act
01:03:51of legislation
01:03:52and courts
01:03:52and enforcement.
01:03:55Notice what
01:03:56we read from
01:03:56the book
01:03:57The Great
01:03:57Controversy,
01:03:58page 442.
01:03:59The speaking
01:04:00of the nation
01:04:01is the
01:04:01action of
01:04:02its legislative
01:04:03and judicial
01:04:03authorities.
01:04:06And so,
01:04:08it was
01:04:08after the
01:04:10man of
01:04:10sin had
01:04:11thought to
01:04:11change times
01:04:12and laws,
01:04:12the law of
01:04:13God,
01:04:13that the
01:04:14Bible says
01:04:14he was to
01:04:15begin his
01:04:15reign and
01:04:16practice and
01:04:17prosper for
01:04:18a time and
01:04:18times in the
01:04:19dividing of
01:04:19time.
01:04:20And as
01:04:21we've seen
01:04:21in our
01:04:22studies,
01:04:23this was
01:04:23for 1,200
01:04:24long years.
01:04:27Now,
01:04:27during the
01:04:281,260
01:04:28years,
01:04:29the government
01:04:29of Satan
01:04:30was to be
01:04:30displayed,
01:04:31you see,
01:04:31before the
01:04:32entire
01:04:32universe.
01:04:34Satan
01:04:34was represented
01:04:35by his
01:04:35earthly
01:04:36representative,
01:04:36the Bishop
01:04:37of Rome,
01:04:38who was
01:04:39led on to
01:04:40destroy the
01:04:42mighty and
01:04:42the holy
01:04:42people of
01:04:43God,
01:04:44we read
01:04:44in Daniel
01:04:448,
01:04:44verse 24.
01:04:49I think
01:04:50this statement
01:04:50from page
01:04:5164,
01:04:52the Great
01:04:52Controversy,
01:04:53shows that
01:04:54the laws of
01:04:55God,
01:04:56that the
01:04:56law of
01:04:56God was
01:04:57to be
01:04:57cast down,
01:04:58trampled
01:04:59in the
01:04:59dust,
01:05:00unimpeded
01:05:01throughout
01:05:01all of
01:05:02Christendom
01:05:03at a
01:05:03specific time
01:05:04in earth's
01:05:04history.
01:05:05Great
01:05:05Controversy,
01:05:06page 64,
01:05:07notice this,
01:05:09quote,
01:05:09among the
01:05:10leading causes
01:05:11that had led
01:05:11to the
01:05:12separation of
01:05:12the true
01:05:13church from
01:05:13Rome was
01:05:14the hatred
01:05:15of the
01:05:15latter toward
01:05:16the Bible
01:05:17Sabbath,
01:05:17as foretold
01:05:19by prophecy,
01:05:20the papal
01:05:20power cast
01:05:21down the
01:05:21truth to
01:05:22the ground.
01:05:22Direct
01:05:23reference.
01:05:25The law
01:05:25of God
01:05:25was trampled
01:05:26in the
01:05:26dust while
01:05:27the traditions
01:05:27and customs
01:05:28of men
01:05:28were exalted.
01:05:30Haven't
01:05:30we seen
01:05:31this?
01:05:31I've laid
01:05:31out enough
01:05:31evidence of
01:05:32this.
01:05:33The churches
01:05:34that were
01:05:34under the
01:05:34rule of
01:05:35the papacy
01:05:35were early
01:05:36compelled to
01:05:37honor the
01:05:38Sunday as
01:05:39a holy
01:05:39day.
01:05:40Amid the
01:05:40prevailing error
01:05:41and superstition,
01:05:42many,
01:05:43even of the
01:05:43true people
01:05:44of God,
01:05:44became so
01:05:45bewildered
01:05:46that while
01:05:47they observed
01:05:47the Sabbath,
01:05:48they refrained
01:05:48from labor
01:05:49also on
01:05:50the Sunday.
01:05:50But this
01:05:51did not
01:05:51satisfy the
01:05:52papal leaders.
01:05:54This will
01:05:55be repeated
01:05:55by the way.
01:05:57They demanded
01:05:59not only that
01:05:59Sunday be
01:06:00hallowed,
01:06:01but that the
01:06:01Sabbath be
01:06:02profaned.
01:06:03Like I said,
01:06:03this will be
01:06:04repeated.
01:06:05And they
01:06:05denounced in
01:06:06the strongest
01:06:06language those
01:06:07who dared
01:06:08to show it
01:06:08honor.
01:06:09It was only
01:06:10by fleeing
01:06:10from the
01:06:11power of Rome
01:06:12that any
01:06:12could obey
01:06:13God's law
01:06:13and peace.
01:06:14Let me
01:06:14read that
01:06:14again.
01:06:17Please,
01:06:18think this
01:06:19through.
01:06:20Consider this.
01:06:21She says,
01:06:22it was only
01:06:23by fleeing
01:06:24from the
01:06:25power of
01:06:25Rome that
01:06:26any could
01:06:26obey God's
01:06:27law in
01:06:28peace.
01:06:33Here's a
01:06:34statement from
01:06:34the Bible
01:06:34Research Institute.
01:06:36Symposium on
01:06:37Daniel,
01:06:37volume 2,
01:06:37page 517.
01:06:39Quote,
01:06:39the next
01:06:39phrase in
01:06:40verse 12,
01:06:41that's Daniel
01:06:418,
01:06:41verse 12,
01:06:42states that
01:06:43the truth
01:06:44was to be
01:06:44cast down
01:06:45to the
01:06:46earth.
01:06:47The third
01:06:48scene dealing
01:06:48with the
01:06:49little horn
01:06:49began with
01:06:50the view
01:06:50of its
01:06:51reaching up
01:06:51to heaven
01:06:52to do
01:06:52battle with
01:06:53the prince.
01:06:54So it
01:06:54ends now
01:06:55with the
01:06:56truth fallen
01:06:56upon the
01:06:57earth as
01:06:57a result
01:06:57of the
01:06:58horn's
01:06:58activity.
01:06:59The action
01:07:00on the
01:07:01vertical
01:07:01dimension
01:07:01travels in
01:07:02both
01:07:02directions
01:07:03in this
01:07:03scene,
01:07:03just as
01:07:04it did
01:07:04in the
01:07:05previous
01:07:05one in
01:07:05verse 10.
01:07:06The verb
01:07:07to cast
01:07:08down is
01:07:09the same
01:07:09as that
01:07:09used for
01:07:10the casting
01:07:10down of
01:07:11the place
01:07:11of the
01:07:11sanctuary
01:07:12in verse
01:07:1211.
01:07:13Salak.
01:07:14This
01:07:15linguistic
01:07:15correlation,
01:07:17the position
01:07:17of this
01:07:18statement
01:07:18as a
01:07:19summary
01:07:19to the
01:07:19final scene
01:07:20in the
01:07:20vision,
01:07:21and the
01:07:21position
01:07:22of this
01:07:22statement
01:07:23in the
01:07:23literary
01:07:23structure
01:07:24of its
01:07:24description
01:07:25combine
01:07:26to indicate
01:07:27that the
01:07:28truth
01:07:28effected
01:07:29here is
01:07:29not just
01:07:30truth in
01:07:30general,
01:07:31but the
01:07:32truth about
01:07:33the prince's
01:07:34Tamed
01:07:34ministration
01:07:35in his
01:07:36sanctuary.
01:07:38It is a
01:07:39specific
01:07:40truth that is
01:07:40attacked here,
01:07:41not just
01:07:41truth in
01:07:42general.
01:07:42Here is
01:07:45a great
01:07:45statement
01:07:45from
01:07:47Pharaoh.
01:07:48It is
01:07:48in his
01:07:48particular
01:07:49publication,
01:07:50the book
01:07:50of Daniel,
01:07:50page 97.
01:07:52He says,
01:07:53It was the
01:07:54papacy which
01:07:55cast down
01:07:55the truth
01:07:56to the
01:07:56ground by
01:07:57changing
01:07:57the law
01:07:58of God,
01:08:00declaring
01:08:00that men
01:08:00burn
01:08:01forever in
01:08:01hellfire,
01:08:03and commanding
01:08:04the worship
01:08:04of men
01:08:04and women.
01:08:05Only the
01:08:06antitypical
01:08:07day of
01:08:07atonement,
01:08:08the investigative
01:08:09judgment,
01:08:09could prepare
01:08:10the way for
01:08:11Christ to
01:08:11rid the
01:08:11world of
01:08:12this
01:08:12ongoing
01:08:12error.
01:08:13That is
01:08:14something to
01:08:14contemplate.
01:08:16That's a
01:08:17very interesting
01:08:18statement.
01:08:20So,
01:08:21not only has
01:08:22the papacy
01:08:22placed tradition
01:08:23above the
01:08:23word of
01:08:23God,
01:08:24but they
01:08:25specifically
01:08:25deny the
01:08:26ministerial
01:08:27work of
01:08:27our true
01:08:28high priest
01:08:29in heaven
01:08:29in cleansing
01:08:30the sanctuary.
01:08:32His
01:08:33church
01:08:33of sin.
01:08:36Now,
01:08:36let me ask
01:08:37you,
01:08:38check this
01:08:39out.
01:08:40Is there
01:08:40any other
01:08:40Christian
01:08:41church on
01:08:41earth that
01:08:42teaches the
01:08:42sanctuary
01:08:43doctrine and
01:08:44the investigative
01:08:44judgment?
01:08:47Think that
01:08:48through very
01:08:48carefully.
01:08:49Do your
01:08:49own research.
01:08:52It's these
01:08:52truths about
01:08:53Christ's
01:08:53ministry that
01:08:54are cast
01:08:55down to the
01:08:55ground by
01:08:55the papacy,
01:08:56and you'll
01:08:57find that
01:08:57only the
01:08:58people of
01:08:58the advent of
01:08:59the seventh
01:08:59day of this
01:09:00faith teach
01:09:01these precious
01:09:02truths to the
01:09:02world.
01:09:03Same with the
01:09:03three angels'
01:09:03messengers.
01:09:06And friends,
01:09:07it'll be these
01:09:07truths that
01:09:08will save
01:09:08you from
01:09:08being deceived
01:09:09by the
01:09:09man of
01:09:10sin and
01:09:10the great
01:09:10lie when
01:09:12Satan
01:09:13impersonates
01:09:13Christ.
01:09:15Back to
01:09:16the Bible
01:09:16Research
01:09:17Institute,
01:09:17same volume,
01:09:18page 219.
01:09:19Quote,
01:09:20The vision in
01:09:21chapter 8
01:09:21places more
01:09:22stress upon
01:09:23his work as
01:09:23a priest than
01:09:25it does upon
01:09:25his role as
01:09:26a ruler.
01:09:27It is the
01:09:28prince's
01:09:28timid
01:09:29ministration
01:09:29that
01:09:30little horn
01:09:30attempts to
01:09:31take away
01:09:31and counterfeit.
01:09:32It is the
01:09:33foundation of
01:09:34his sanctuary
01:09:35that the
01:09:35little horn
01:09:35symbolically
01:09:36casts down
01:09:37to the
01:09:37earth.
01:09:38It is the
01:09:39truth about
01:09:40him and
01:09:40his
01:09:40ministration
01:09:41and his
01:09:41sanctuary
01:09:42that the
01:09:43little horn
01:09:43casts down
01:09:44to the
01:09:44earth and
01:09:44tramples
01:09:44upon.
01:09:46Well,
01:09:46part of the
01:09:47struggle between
01:09:47the little horn
01:09:48and the prince
01:09:49in chapter 8
01:09:50involves the
01:09:50host of his
01:09:51stars,
01:09:53the saints.
01:09:54More of it
01:09:55focuses upon
01:09:56the work of
01:09:56the prince and
01:09:57the sanctuary
01:09:57for his
01:09:57people.
01:09:58And then
01:09:59they say,
01:09:59why is the
01:10:00sanctuary so
01:10:00important?
01:10:02The evident
01:10:04reason for
01:10:04its importance
01:10:05has to do
01:10:06with what
01:10:06goes on
01:10:06in it.
01:10:07That's a
01:10:08common sense
01:10:09statement.
01:10:10And then
01:10:11they say,
01:10:11it is in
01:10:12the sanctuary
01:10:12through its
01:10:13ministration
01:10:14that the
01:10:16prince is
01:10:16working out
01:10:17the salvation
01:10:18of people.
01:10:21This is what
01:10:22the little horn
01:10:22attempts to
01:10:23take away
01:10:23and control.
01:10:24In this
01:10:25way,
01:10:25diverting the
01:10:26attention of
01:10:27the people
01:10:27from the
01:10:28true plan
01:10:28of salvation.
01:10:30But the
01:10:30true plan
01:10:30of salvation
01:10:31as executed
01:10:32by the
01:10:32prince will
01:10:33eventually
01:10:33prevail.
01:10:35The salvation
01:10:35of the people
01:10:36will be
01:10:36accomplished.
01:10:37You see,
01:10:39the little
01:10:40horn is just
01:10:40doing what
01:10:40Satan did
01:10:41at the very
01:10:41beginning in
01:10:42the garden.
01:10:43You shall
01:10:44not surely
01:10:45die.
01:10:47You don't
01:10:48need God.
01:10:54Can you
01:10:55imagine
01:10:55can you
01:10:59imagine
01:10:59what Daniel
01:11:00thought
01:11:00when he
01:11:02saw and
01:11:02vision this
01:11:03little horn
01:11:03trampling
01:11:04upon God's
01:11:05law and
01:11:07sanctuary and
01:11:09people and
01:11:11that it
01:11:11practiced and
01:11:12prospered while
01:11:15doing it?
01:11:15the
01:11:21ongoing
01:11:22nature of
01:11:23these two
01:11:24overhanging
01:11:26verbs
01:11:26acted or
01:11:27practiced and
01:11:28prospered.
01:11:30They indicate
01:11:31that the
01:11:31little horn
01:11:31was to be
01:11:32allotted a
01:11:32period of
01:11:33time to
01:11:33exercise its
01:11:34powers.
01:11:35It would
01:11:36practice and
01:11:36prosper for
01:11:371260 days
01:11:39or actually
01:11:39literal years.
01:11:41And this
01:11:41was just
01:11:41the
01:11:42beginning of
01:11:45Daniel's
01:11:46astonishment.
01:11:48Because we
01:11:50have yet to
01:11:50get to the
01:11:512300 years.
01:11:55We'll close
01:11:56up here.
01:11:57I want to
01:11:57share this.
01:11:58It's from
01:11:59Uriah Smith's
01:12:00book,
01:12:00Daniel and
01:12:00Revelation,
01:12:01pages 160
01:12:02to 162.
01:12:03He says,
01:12:04quote,
01:12:04Of this
01:12:05ecclesiastical
01:12:06power it is
01:12:07declared that
01:12:08it has
01:12:08practiced,
01:12:10practiced its
01:12:11deceptions on
01:12:12the people,
01:12:12practiced in
01:12:13schemes of
01:12:14cunning to
01:12:15carry out
01:12:15its own
01:12:16ends and
01:12:16aggrandize
01:12:17its own
01:12:18power.
01:12:19Likewise,
01:12:20it has
01:12:20prospered.
01:12:22It has
01:12:22made war
01:12:23upon the
01:12:23saints and
01:12:24prevailed
01:12:24against them.
01:12:25It has
01:12:26well nigh
01:12:26run its
01:12:27allotted
01:12:27career and
01:12:28is soon
01:12:29to be
01:12:29broken
01:12:29without
01:12:30hand,
01:12:30to be
01:12:31given to
01:12:31the
01:12:32burning
01:12:32flame and
01:12:33to perish
01:12:33in the
01:12:33consuming
01:12:34glories of
01:12:35the second
01:12:36appearing of
01:12:36our Lord.
01:12:37End quote.
01:12:38Praise his
01:12:39holy name.
01:12:41Jesus is
01:12:41coming soon.
01:12:42all this
01:12:44would be
01:12:45destroyed,
01:12:46friends.
01:12:47But as I
01:12:48close up here,
01:12:49I want to
01:12:49consider just
01:12:51what the
01:12:52little horn
01:12:52did to the
01:12:53sanctuary.
01:12:54I have six
01:12:55things to
01:12:55share.
01:12:58First,
01:13:00it acted
01:13:01toward the
01:13:01sanctuary
01:13:02somewhat in
01:13:03the manner
01:13:03of a foreign
01:13:04invader.
01:13:05The main
01:13:06symbols of the
01:13:07beasts and
01:13:07horns in
01:13:08chapter 8
01:13:08represent political
01:13:09powers,
01:13:09don't they?
01:13:11And so,
01:13:11when the
01:13:12little horn
01:13:12intrudes into
01:13:13the realm
01:13:14of the
01:13:14sanctuary,
01:13:15it does so
01:13:15somewhat in
01:13:16the same
01:13:16vein as
01:13:17those powers
01:13:18would have
01:13:18done.
01:13:20Second,
01:13:21it stood
01:13:22up or
01:13:22exalted
01:13:23itself against
01:13:24the prince
01:13:24to whom
01:13:25the sanctuary
01:13:25and its
01:13:26ministry
01:13:27belong.
01:13:28Though he
01:13:29carries a
01:13:29political title
01:13:30here,
01:13:31the prince
01:13:31exercises a
01:13:32priestly
01:13:32function as
01:13:33well,
01:13:34which I
01:13:35just read
01:13:35about.
01:13:36Some quotes
01:13:36about that.
01:13:37And you
01:13:38can see that.
01:13:38That's what
01:13:38the sanctuary.
01:13:40It's a
01:13:40ministry,
01:13:41right?
01:13:43So,
01:13:43in diverting
01:13:44that function,
01:13:45the little
01:13:45horn takes
01:13:45on a
01:13:46priestly
01:13:46character
01:13:46too.
01:13:48Church and
01:13:48state,
01:13:49right?
01:13:50Third thing,
01:13:51it disrupts
01:13:52or attempts
01:13:52to disrupt
01:13:53the services
01:13:53of the
01:13:54sanctuary.
01:13:56And according
01:13:56to the
01:13:57description of
01:13:57the vision,
01:13:58the little
01:13:58horn was
01:13:59to take
01:13:59away the
01:13:59timid,
01:14:00the continual
01:14:01ministration
01:14:02in the
01:14:02sanctuary from
01:14:03the prince
01:14:03who governs
01:14:04the sanctuary.
01:14:05And so,
01:14:06doing,
01:14:07it also
01:14:08endeavored to
01:14:09place these
01:14:09functions under
01:14:10the control of
01:14:10its host.
01:14:12In one way or
01:14:13another,
01:14:13therefore,
01:14:13the true
01:14:14services of
01:14:14the sanctuary
01:14:15were to be
01:14:15deflected out
01:14:16of their
01:14:16course.
01:14:17Fourth thing,
01:14:18it was to
01:14:19cast the
01:14:20foundation place
01:14:21of the
01:14:21sanctuary down
01:14:22to the
01:14:22earth.
01:14:24So,
01:14:25since we're
01:14:25dealing with
01:14:26a symbolic
01:14:26rather than
01:14:27literal movement
01:14:28from heaven
01:14:28to earth,
01:14:29one might
01:14:29think of the
01:14:30transfer of
01:14:30some of the
01:14:31functions of
01:14:31that sanctuary
01:14:32from the
01:14:33sacred realm
01:14:34of heaven to
01:14:34the secular
01:14:35realm of
01:14:36earth.
01:14:37From the
01:14:37holy to
01:14:38the unholy.
01:14:39Right?
01:14:41A fifth
01:14:42thing,
01:14:43it was to
01:14:44introduce
01:14:44transgression
01:14:45into the
01:14:47services or
01:14:48function of
01:14:48the sanctuary.
01:14:49It was to
01:14:49introduce sin
01:14:51into the
01:14:54church.
01:14:54In other
01:14:55words,
01:14:55they're not
01:14:55going to
01:14:55cleanse the
01:14:56sanctuary,
01:14:57they're
01:14:57defiling the
01:14:59sanctuary.
01:14:59It's not
01:15:00just a pig
01:15:01one time.
01:15:01Are you
01:15:03starting to
01:15:04see it?
01:15:07Meaning,
01:15:08in the
01:15:08statement which
01:15:09refers to the
01:15:09little horn
01:15:10being given
01:15:10a host over
01:15:11the timed,
01:15:12verse 12,
01:15:13the idea is
01:15:13added that it
01:15:14would do so
01:15:15by,
01:15:16in,
01:15:17through,
01:15:18with,
01:15:19transgression.
01:15:22In one way
01:15:23or another,
01:15:24therefore,
01:15:24transgression
01:15:25has been
01:15:25introduced into
01:15:26services or
01:15:27functions that
01:15:28were intended
01:15:29to treat
01:15:30transgression.
01:15:31their purpose
01:15:34has been
01:15:34subverted.
01:15:37I mean,
01:15:38it's easy
01:15:38for us to
01:15:39read the
01:15:40Bible and
01:15:40we look at
01:15:41Christian
01:15:41church today
01:15:43and we
01:15:43say,
01:15:43there's a
01:15:44lot of
01:15:44paganism in
01:15:44the church.
01:15:46How did
01:15:46it get
01:15:47there?
01:15:49Think it
01:15:49through.
01:15:52The sixth
01:15:52thing,
01:15:54the little
01:15:54horn was
01:15:55also to
01:15:55cast the
01:15:56truth to
01:15:56the ground
01:15:57and trample
01:15:57upon it.
01:15:59And in
01:15:59context,
01:16:00this does
01:16:00not refer to
01:16:01the truth
01:16:01in general
01:16:02as found
01:16:04in the
01:16:04Torah,
01:16:04for example,
01:16:05in the
01:16:05Ten Commandments.
01:16:07It refers
01:16:07more specifically
01:16:09to the truth
01:16:09about the
01:16:10sanctuary
01:16:10and about
01:16:11the prince
01:16:12and his
01:16:12ministry
01:16:13and its
01:16:15relation
01:16:16to God's
01:16:18law.
01:16:21Thus,
01:16:21the climax
01:16:22of this
01:16:22prophecy
01:16:22depicts,
01:16:24in essence,
01:16:24a struggle
01:16:25over the
01:16:25sanctuary
01:16:26between the
01:16:27little horn
01:16:27and the
01:16:28prince of
01:16:28the host.
01:16:29given the
01:16:31extent of
01:16:31this attack
01:16:32upon the
01:16:32prince of
01:16:33sanctuary,
01:16:33the question
01:16:34I think
01:16:34that naturally
01:16:35arises as to
01:16:36why the
01:16:37sanctuary
01:16:38assumes so
01:16:39much importance
01:16:40in this
01:16:41prophecy,
01:16:41we need to
01:16:42think about
01:16:42that.
01:16:43Clearly,
01:16:44this is not
01:16:44a dispute
01:16:45over real
01:16:46estate,
01:16:47right?
01:16:49Or a
01:16:50building,
01:16:51like we do
01:16:53here on
01:16:53earth.
01:16:54Oh,
01:16:55you can't
01:16:55use our
01:16:56name,
01:16:56you can't
01:16:57do that.
01:17:02I mean,
01:17:02whatever the
01:17:03physical
01:17:03makeup may
01:17:04be,
01:17:04it's not
01:17:04over that.
01:17:07What is
01:17:07of the
01:17:08utmost
01:17:09importance
01:17:09here is
01:17:10what goes
01:17:10on in
01:17:10that
01:17:11sanctuary.
01:17:13Whether
01:17:14the
01:17:15tabernacle
01:17:17in the
01:17:17wilderness,
01:17:19solemn,
01:17:20you know,
01:17:20that temple
01:17:21there,
01:17:22the second
01:17:22temple,
01:17:23or the
01:17:24heavenly
01:17:24sanctuary,
01:17:25these
01:17:26sanctuaries,
01:17:27all of
01:17:28them,
01:17:28have been
01:17:28the center
01:17:29for activities
01:17:29connected with
01:17:30God's plan
01:17:31for the
01:17:32salvation of
01:17:32mankind.
01:17:34And all
01:17:34of it
01:17:35revolves around
01:17:35the Ten
01:17:36Commandments
01:17:36law of
01:17:37God.
01:17:38For,
01:17:38you see,
01:17:39that is
01:17:39what defines
01:17:40sin,
01:17:41and the
01:17:42sanctuary
01:17:42is to be
01:17:43cleansed
01:17:44of sin.
01:17:46If you
01:17:46do not
01:17:47know what
01:17:47sin is,
01:17:50then there
01:17:52is no
01:17:52law,
01:17:53right?
01:17:53Paul's
01:17:53telling us
01:17:54all about
01:17:54that.
01:17:55But the
01:17:56commandments
01:17:56define what
01:17:58sin is for
01:17:59us.
01:18:01And why
01:18:01does God
01:18:02lay that
01:18:02out?
01:18:03So we
01:18:04know that
01:18:04we're sending
01:18:05sin into
01:18:07the sanctuary.
01:18:08We have
01:18:08defiled the
01:18:10sanctuary of
01:18:10God.
01:18:11God's
01:18:12government,
01:18:14our planet,
01:18:16has done
01:18:16this.
01:18:18Humanity
01:18:18has done
01:18:19this.
01:18:20to
01:18:24obtain
01:18:25salvation
01:18:25in
01:18:26Old
01:18:26Testament
01:18:26times,
01:18:27the
01:18:27believer
01:18:27went to
01:18:28the
01:18:28temple
01:18:28and
01:18:29practiced
01:18:29in
01:18:29its
01:18:29services.
01:18:31And what
01:18:32many
01:18:32Christians,
01:18:33most
01:18:33Christians
01:18:33today,
01:18:34don't
01:18:34realize,
01:18:35is that
01:18:35the same
01:18:36procedure
01:18:36applies to
01:18:37us
01:18:37today.
01:18:39The
01:18:39exception
01:18:39is that
01:18:40the temple
01:18:40to which
01:18:41the New
01:18:42Testament
01:18:42believer
01:18:43applies
01:18:44is in
01:18:45heaven.
01:18:47And they
01:18:48must go
01:18:48there by
01:18:49faith,
01:18:49not by
01:18:50physical
01:18:50act.
01:18:52In that
01:18:52sanctuary,
01:18:53we have a
01:18:53heavenly high
01:18:54priest ministering
01:18:55for us.
01:18:57And the
01:18:57book of
01:18:57Hebrews identifies
01:18:58him as
01:18:59Jesus the
01:18:59Christ,
01:19:00our Lord
01:19:00and Savior.
01:19:03Daniel 8
01:19:04refers to
01:19:05that same
01:19:05heavenly high
01:19:06priest as
01:19:06the prince
01:19:06of the
01:19:07host.
01:19:07This
01:19:08prince is
01:19:08not only
01:19:09ruler over
01:19:10his host
01:19:11or people,
01:19:12but he is
01:19:12also a
01:19:13heavenly
01:19:13priest ministering
01:19:14in his
01:19:16sanctuary
01:19:16for them,
01:19:18for us.
01:19:21And so
01:19:21it's this
01:19:22particular
01:19:23aspect of
01:19:23his work
01:19:24that is
01:19:24attacked by
01:19:25the little
01:19:25horn.
01:19:27And the
01:19:27focus of
01:19:28the prophecy
01:19:29underscores,
01:19:31I believe,
01:19:31the seriousness
01:19:32of the
01:19:33attack.
01:19:36The
01:19:36evident
01:19:36reason for
01:19:37this is
01:19:37that the
01:19:38prince's
01:19:38administration
01:19:38in his
01:19:39sanctuary
01:19:39deals with
01:19:40the
01:19:40salvation
01:19:41of all
01:19:42of us,
01:19:42of all
01:19:42mankind.
01:19:43And so
01:19:45a struggle
01:19:45over the
01:19:46plan of
01:19:46salvation
01:19:47is depicted
01:19:47as going
01:19:48on here
01:19:49in Daniel
01:19:518,
01:19:52in the
01:19:54daily.
01:19:57Now when
01:19:58we get to
01:19:59Daniel 8,
01:19:59verses 13 and
01:20:0014,
01:20:01we find
01:20:01Daniel hearing
01:20:02a conversation
01:20:03between two
01:20:04beings speaking
01:20:04to each other
01:20:05about the
01:20:06vision.
01:20:07And we'll
01:20:08dig into that
01:20:09the next time
01:20:10that we get
01:20:11together.
01:20:11I've gone
01:20:13over quite a
01:20:14bit.
01:20:14I apologize
01:20:14for that.
01:20:15This is
01:20:16important stuff,
01:20:17friends.
01:20:18And I hope
01:20:19I've helped
01:20:20you to
01:20:20understand it
01:20:21in some
01:20:21small way
01:20:22at least.
01:20:23Let's bow
01:20:23our heads.
01:20:23Father in
01:20:24heaven,
01:20:24I thank you
01:20:24for the
01:20:25opportunity
01:20:26to get
01:20:27into your
01:20:27word here
01:20:28in Daniel
01:20:288,
01:20:29to look at
01:20:30documented
01:20:31history,
01:20:32some,
01:20:32to consider
01:20:33these things,
01:20:34reason things
01:20:35out with you
01:20:36and the
01:20:36Holy Spirit.
01:20:37I trust
01:20:39you with
01:20:40my whole
01:20:40heart.
01:20:41I pray
01:20:41that those
01:20:42seeing this
01:20:43and listening
01:20:43trust you
01:20:44as well,
01:20:45that you
01:20:45will lead
01:20:46all of us
01:20:46into the
01:20:47truth.
01:20:49Please
01:20:49protect us
01:20:50from the
01:20:50evil one.
01:20:50Help us,
01:20:51Lord,
01:20:51to share
01:20:52these things
01:20:52with those
01:20:53around us
01:20:53and to
01:20:55share the
01:20:57love of
01:20:57Jesus that
01:20:58we have
01:20:58with all.
01:20:59May every
01:21:00person who
01:21:01sees us
01:21:01and we
01:21:02have contact
01:21:03with see
01:21:03Jesus alive
01:21:04in us.
01:21:05continue to
01:21:07be with
01:21:07those who
01:21:08are suffering
01:21:08around the
01:21:08world,
01:21:09Lord.
01:21:09May they
01:21:10come to
01:21:10know thee,
01:21:11the true
01:21:11God.
01:21:11I pray in
01:21:12the name
01:21:12of Jesus
01:21:13who is so
01:21:13worthy.
01:21:14Amen and
01:21:15amen.
01:21:16Well,
01:21:16friends,
01:21:17I appreciate
01:21:18that you've

01:21:45business,
01:21:45that's a

01:21:53Pastor Brooks
01:21:54always encouraged
01:21:55everyone,
01:21:55and I do
01:21:56it too.
01:21:57Check me
01:21:57out on these
01:21:58things.
01:21:59And trust
01:21:59Jesus with
01:22:00your own
01:22:00heart.
01:22:01Never
01:22:01doubt the
01:22:02love of
01:22:02Jesus for
01:22:02you,
01:22:03never doubt
01:22:03it.
01:22:04Keep
01:22:04looking up.
01:22:05And we'll
01:22:05see you
01:22:05the next
01:22:06time.
01:22:06Take care,
01:22:07good friends.
