00:00Kainati, first of all, welcome to INS.
00:02Thank you so much.
00:03And first of all, you would like to know that
00:05how many years have you been in Bollywood?
00:08How did you see your journey and how did you evolve as an actor?
00:12Well, it has been a very, very fruitful journey.
00:17And the journey is still going on.
00:20And it's all about the process for every artist,
00:24you know, being part of the industry.
00:26And when I thought that I had to start from where I had started,
00:31it's like U.P. Uttar Pradesh is a small city of Saharampur.
00:39It's not easy that you can achieve a large city from a large city.
00:45So for me, this was a very big thing.
00:49When I came from Saharampur, I was able to study.
00:53And when I was crossing the road, I had a modeling coffer.
01:07So I didn't think that I would get to do modeling and all of that.
01:13And that was also a time when I was living in the hostel, in PG.
01:17And of course, I didn't get much money from home.
01:22And my father had a lot of issues going on in business back then.
01:29So by looking at his issues and plus our study and business,
01:34there were a lot of loans in their business.
01:36So I was looking at the journey, but back of the mind,
01:40it was that I have to do something in life.
01:42And as soon as I got to get the breaks of modeling,
01:45then whatever my income was at that time,
01:48I worked on 4-4 shifts.
01:50And I was sending all the money to my home.
01:53My father's loan was cleared.
01:55And I'm happy to say that I don't know how big of a star you are.
02:00Or how big of a star you are in your life.
02:04You also have a job of your mother-in-law or you have to do something for them,
02:08your life-in-law.
02:09So when I see my entire journey,
02:17it looks fruitful in my eyes and in my parents' eyes
02:21as I could do something as a child for my parents in their business world.
02:28And today everything is good.
02:29But that was also a time when I was eating cockroaches in the hostel,
02:33and I was working again.
02:38so I didn't have to eat food.
02:40And I had to sleep again and sleep again.
02:43So it's a long journey and it's still going on.
02:47And I'm enjoying the entire process.
02:49And I live a very, very simple life, just like any other girl.
03:02And I live a very, very simple life, just like any other girl.
03:14But what happens is that when you get out of the work,
03:18then it's a quote that beggars are not choosers.
03:22You don't have to fill the roles, you have to fill the roles.
03:25And I had a chance to work with Indra Kumar Ji, I had a chance to work with Indra Kumar Ji.
03:30And as a newcomer,
03:34I had a chance to work with Indra Kumar Ji.
03:35And Milab Zaveri had seen me in Autos Club, the first time.
03:38And I was with Saheli.
03:40And they actually offered me a movie called John Jenny Janardhan.
03:46And Milab Zaveri wanted me to be also one of the actors.
03:59So I was doing that film and the grand must be started.
04:03Milab was writing it.
04:04And of course, role was very, very totally a type of a role,
04:10which I could not even think that I am the real life.
04:15But I had to perform the actors and I did that.
04:20Indra Kumar Ji has instructed me as I did.
04:23Because I had to move forward, I had no choice.
04:25I had to work and I had to see my family as well.
04:29And the movie was super duper hit.
04:31So I can say that it's time to sleep, it's time.
04:38Because I did a lot of shows, I did a lot of events.
04:44I have been working for today.
04:47And I thank Parwale and Indra Kumar Ji, Milab.
04:52And all the people who believed in me and whatever it was,
04:55but it did give me a lot in my life.
04:58So I can live anywhere today.
05:01I can live well. I can live well. I can live well. I can live well. I can live well.
05:05I can live well.
05:06It's all because of that one movie, Grand Musti, which became a blockbuster.
05:10What my parents haven't seen today.
05:13By the way.
05:14My father, my mother, nobody has seen the movies yet.
05:18And yeah, even like before that, like Akshay Kumar, which I sang, Aila Reaila, Hathi Chamaila, In Khatta Mitha.
05:26He was also super duper hit.
05:28I showed a lot of shows that Priya Darshan Ji directed the movie.
05:33And when I was working with Priya Darshan Ji,
05:36they told me one thing.
05:38That I won't do a lot of things in the world.
05:40But after singing,
05:42your own house, your own car, your own house, your own good stuff,
05:46your luxurious life set.
05:48So they told me exactly what happened.
05:51And I was lucky enough to do, to work with Akshay Kumar in my first song in a movie,
05:58Bade Parde Par, Seedha Akshay Kumar Ji Ke Saath Kaam Karne Ko Mila.
06:03So that was also something I had not expected.
06:06And of course, later, Grand Musti happened and posed that I was also shooting for
06:12Tamil song in Mankata movie opposite superstar Rajit Kumar.
06:19Machi Open The Bottle was a super duper hit song and movie was a blockbuster.
06:23So I got to work with great superstars and then Malayalam movie,
06:28I debuted with Mohan Lal Ji in Laila and Laila.
06:32And posed that with Gipi Grewal, I debuted with Ferrar movie.
06:37So I worked with different languages,
06:40I got to learn a lot.
06:42And in every language, of course, it's not easy.
06:45It's not easy.
06:46Our Hindi language is.
06:47I don't speak in Malayalam.
06:48I don't speak in Tamil.
06:49I don't speak in Tamil.
06:50I'm Punjabi.
06:51But I don't speak in Punjabi.
06:52But I don't speak in Punjabi.
06:53But I debuted with all the superstars in regional cinema.
06:57So that was, I think,
06:59I think,
07:00Naseeb Kehlo or
07:01Jobi Parmatma's
07:02Aashirwaad
07:04or Maabap's Aashirwaad.
07:05But then,
07:06I am grateful to Almighty.
07:08As you said,
07:09You have worked in Borewood,
07:11I worked in Punjabi,
07:13I worked in Tamil,
07:14I worked in Tamil.
07:15So which industry do you like?
07:18And why?
07:19For an artist,
07:20It doesn't mean that
07:22Which industry is a child.
07:23This will be the case
07:24that you ask someone
07:27that you have a child.
07:29So for parents,
07:30it's difficult to answer
07:31for parents.
07:32It's difficult to answer
07:33if you have a big child.
07:34Or like,
07:35you know,
07:36Who's the favourite child?
07:38It's a difficult question.
07:39For an artist,
07:40You are getting a job.
07:41You are getting a job.
07:42You are getting a job.
07:43And you are working.
07:44You are getting a job.
07:45You are getting a job.
07:46And you are getting a job.
07:47And you are getting a job.
07:48It's the only way to keep working with your work.
07:51And I am really enjoying all industries.
07:53But this is,
07:54If you are speaking your language,
07:55then you feel that
07:57you talk daily.
07:59So it's easy.
08:00And when you do Tamil,
08:02Maliyalam,
08:03Punjabi movies,
08:05or Telugu,
08:06then you are going to the school
08:09and you are studying again.
08:12You are being a teacher.
08:14I have also learned Haryanvi language.
08:17I have also learned Sanskrit.
08:19I have also learned Sanskrit.
08:20And things like that.
08:21I have done proper workshops,
08:23acting classes,
08:24dance workshops.
08:26I have all worked.
08:27I have also learned a lot.
08:28I have also learned a lot.
08:29For some artists.
08:30And for artists,
08:32it is that you do something
08:34every day.
08:35And you learn something new.
08:37in terms of your creative line.
08:39And I do a lot of shows also.
08:41So,
08:42you also do rehearsals daily.
08:44So you are busy.
08:46End of the day,
08:47you should work.
08:49And you should be self-independent.
08:50Every girl should be self-independent.
08:52No matter who you are marrying.
08:53Who is your boyfriend.
08:54No matter where you are going to settle.
08:57But a woman should be always self-sufficient
09:00and independent.
09:01Are you after comedy roles?
09:02Do you know a woman who is funny?
09:03Or do you think that her woman is more of a woman?
09:05Or do you think that her woman is more of a woman?
09:07I don't know if people think I am funny.
09:12And I don't even know if I am funny.
09:14I think I am more of a lover.
09:17I think people who know me,
09:18like my friends.
09:19Or people who are around me.
09:20They think I am very romantic.
09:21They think I'm very romantic.
09:23So I think I should do a romantic movie and maybe something more intense.
09:30Comedy is something, I think comedy is the most difficult genre.
09:35And there's a sense of timing that's very important.
09:39And I've seen a lot more in the comedies that the male actors, they get to perform a lot more.
09:46And very few films like I've seen where comedies more surrounded around a female character like Tannu Bedsmanu Returns.
09:56So that's also a black humor comedy and Kangana Ranavath had performed incredibly beautifully.
10:03She had portrayed that character where she had done that Haryanvi role in Tannu Bedsmanu Returns.
10:11And because Haryanvi is a different type of language, there are punchlines.
10:16And I think that we're talking about Haryanvi, we're not funny, but it's funny.
10:22So there are a lot of movies in which I get to perform a lot of actresses in which I think it's funny.
10:30But yeah, when I did Grand Musti, I was nominated at the Aifa Awards.
10:34And straight away, I went to the US.
10:36So, I mean, for me, it was something big.
10:40I had not expected that I'll be nominated.
10:41But yeah, if you think something funny, then it's okay.
10:46But I would like to do love romantic roles.
10:50Or maybe something like Achanni Bhaar, what Tabu did.
10:55Or something like Achanmeli, what Kareena Kapoor did.
10:59But yeah, when we met, it was beautiful.
11:01So I think Kareena was damn funny in that.
11:03So I think I would like to perform on different roles.
11:12I would love to do something like SADMA, like Shri Devi Ji has performed, one of the roles, which really, really inspired me as an artist.
11:21In the fashion, your choices are always fearless and statement-faking.
11:25So do you feel scared to be more daring than a character in a different outfit and your limits cross your limits?
11:34I didn't wear the clothes in Grand Musti, I wasn't comfortable in Grand Musti, I'll be very honest.
11:39I wasn't comfortable in any way.
11:41And now there are some roles in which I had a very bold, daring type of characters.
11:46But at the same time, if I have to perform, if I have to do a good role, but if it is a woman-centric role, like she came to her,
12:00in that central character, I mean like what she did, so which character is in that role, which director is in that role, it all depends.
12:09If you have to do a bold role again and you have to wear it, then I'll again ask, what is the script, who is the director and who is doing it?
12:19Because I'm not really comfortable wearing anything or everything just like for the heck of it.
12:24So again, if I have to perform, it all depends on the director I'm working with and what is the script like and who I'm working opposite.
12:32But just for the heck of it, I won't wear it.
12:36And in daily life, in normal life, I wear a lot of clothes, I wear a lot of blazer suits, and I wear a glamorous clothes, but it depends.
12:50I don't normally see what I've seen in Grand Musti.
12:53I think challenging was Grand Musti's role.
13:07Like I said, I'm not in real life.
13:09So I don't have to do anything, and you have to do it because you have to do it, you have to do it, you have to do it, and you have to do it with a good director.
13:20I have to do it with a good director.
13:22I had to do it with Indra Kumar Ji.
13:23So that role, I didn't have to do that character.
13:26So that I'm not doing it, and I have to do it, was challenging for me.
13:29And in that costume, you have to do it for 24 hours, you have to go on sets for 13-12 hours and you have to wear the clothing and wear the clothing.
13:38You have to wear the clothing and wear the clothing.
13:40So there are a few hundred people on sets, and everyone is watching what you have to wear.
13:44So it's challenging.
13:45It's not that you watch the movie in the cinema or the two-three hours.
13:50It's the same.
13:51You have to do it for a full day, and you have to do it for one scene, two or three days.
13:55So it becomes challenging for any artist.
13:59But then there are some people who are okay and actually bold in real life.
14:05But then there are people who are working because they want to work on good scripts or with good directors.
14:10It depends on people to people.
14:12I personally feel, right or wrong, I don't do anything.
14:33I don't do anything.
14:34I don't do anything, actually.
14:35Because every person is going through their own journey.
14:38And if somebody wants to be seen or if somebody wants to be famous, maybe they're doing it because they have their own reasons behind it.
14:45And you need to be comfortable doing what you're doing.
14:48So I don't want to be judgmental about any girl who is wearing anything to be seen and get papped.
14:56I'm sure they are going through their own journey.
14:58They have their own reasons.
14:59But I won't be comfortable doing something like that.
15:03When I was working with Ajit Kumar Ji, Ajit Thala in Mankata, when I did that song, he told me not to be part of the film industry.
15:27He said, Kainat, you're too simple in real life.
15:33And I think you should not get into the industry.
15:36And if you want to get into it, you have to be fully prepared because there will be a lot of hurdles, this, that.
15:42But I don't see you as a man.
15:44I don't see you being part of the industry.
15:46So they said that I didn't come to you.
15:49So I had to do something.
15:51Initially, I didn't do anything.
15:53I didn't plan that I had to come to movies.
15:55But subconsciously, I thought that I didn't want to do anything.
15:58Consciously, everything happened.
16:00That was not a plan.
16:02But yes, Ajit Kumar said that on a personal level,
16:08that there will be anyone from here.
16:11So those who like them, they believe.
16:13One Sanjada told me, never get into the film industry.
16:19So that was more on a, like a sweeter side probably.
16:24Some people, even if they're an actor or director,
16:28some people, they're not very comfortable telling their own people.
16:31Like my parents didn't want to come to movies or do something.
16:36But when the work was good,
16:38then they didn't have such an objection.
16:41But they wanted to do a performance-driven role.
16:44Do something like that there will be a message.
16:48Right?
16:49And like when I was working with Akshay Kumar.
16:53So he was very, very highly, like he was someone who was motivated,
16:57like motivated person.
16:58So he never said that, don't do this, don't do that.
17:02In fact, he was very funny, very supportive.
17:05When I was working with Vivek Obroy, Ritesh Deshmukh,
17:08they were very supportive.
17:09And everybody was good in their own way.
17:11And I was lucky enough to work with everyone.
17:13Mohan Lal Ji, like he is such an incredible actor himself.
17:18He was very, very supportive.
17:20So I have learnt a lot in my silence while working with every actor I've worked with,
17:27even with Gippi.
17:29Because Punjabi, I am.
17:31But Pindu, Punjabi.
17:33It's not easy to speak Punjabi.
17:36And we were shooting in the US.
17:38So Gippi supported me a lot.
17:40The Dictionary of Punjabi, the lingo,
17:43just like a teacher, he was like on there on the set supporting.
17:48So from every actor I've learnt something or the others,
17:51in my own silence I was observing Ritesh Deshmukh
17:54being such a spontaneous actor and his one-liners and his spontaneity
18:01like in terms of dialogue delivery.
18:03I didn't write anything.
18:04And it was so great that you will only see and learn so much.
18:11And if you are a sucker for learning in this industry,
18:15and if you want to go a lot further,
18:17then you should have to silently observe it.
18:19I've learnt a lot in silence.
18:21I've learnt a lot in silence.
18:25Rather than, I've learnt tips.
18:27In today's films,
18:29which trends and new age roles do you feel interesting?
18:32Do you want to explore those trends in your future projects?
18:36I don't know the trends of today's events,
18:39but I can tell you,
18:41that I loved Rockstar movies like Rockstar.
18:45In 2011, when I saw it in the premiere,
18:50there was a lot of people on the head of Rockstar at that time.
18:55And I have seen the movie maybe about 80 to 90 times.
19:00There is no count.
19:02In 2011, I'm watching Rockstar.
19:04And when we met, I really liked it.
19:07I loved Omkara.
19:10I loved Langda Tyagi's character.
19:13I loved Ajay Devgani in Omkara.
19:15I liked Kareena Kapoor in Omkara.
19:17I loved Shri Devi Ji in Sadma.
19:19So, there are many movies like that.
19:22So, I would not say,
19:24what's going on in it today?
19:26But I like to watch movies.
19:28I would rather talk about that.
19:30Then, I also love DDLJ.
19:34Shah Rukh Khan movies.
19:35I love Meryl Streep as an actress.
19:38And Devil's Wear Prada.
19:40So, different kind of genres I enjoy.
19:43And, yeah.
19:45Lastly, what are your future projects?
19:48I have finished a movie with Casey Bukadia, sir, called Tisri Begum.
19:53And I have done a web series.
19:57We have done a big OTT.
20:01It's called Wraith, which is based on mining and mafias and all that.
20:06It's a true story.
20:07Where I have played a Muslim character.
20:09And in Tisri Begum, I have also played a Muslim role play.
20:13So, I have two releases.
20:15And Wraith's Season 2 will be starting very soon.
20:19So, I have two releases on the pipeline.
20:21And a lot of magazine covers we are shooting.
20:25Okay.
20:26Last thing, what message do you want to give to your friends?
20:28Nothing.
20:29Just be yourself.
20:30And be productive.
20:31Be progressive.
20:32And do something in life.
20:34And take care of your health.
20:36And respect your parents.
20:37Love your elders.
20:38And live a healthy life.
20:40And just pray and be happy.
20:43Be happy from inside.
20:44Okay.
20:46Thank you so much.
